I will not try to define metal, but you are completely wrong about metal. Metalcore, which you are most likely referring to, is generally more hardcore than metal. Some bands like ATR are more metal, but generally it is hardcore with metal influences. Get this straight: having a shitload of breakdowns is NOT metal.
