  • Such a good song.

  • Lost it a bit before guitar solo, otherwise awesome. Thanks for posting...

  • Good song, good record.....but they can barely play live !!!!!!!

  • @shadyalan1 Can't you hear? The Kinks was agreat 'live band'! Yeah!

  • One of the best British Invasion songs hands down. You can hear elements of punk in this music as well as pop and rock.

  • haha that kid - oh shit, camera, better dance!

  • dos anyone no the bass tab for this please

  • The things I would do for that guitar tone.

  • @driftz0r Oh yes! Dave was godly when it came to tone.

  • just the definition of cool

  • my god, what that nigga is doing there in Germany????

  • @tiborvivi lol

Yup, he's like " oh yeah, (sweeps fro) watch how it's done bitches" lol :o)

  • 1:34, the guy is like: "ok, it´s time for my 15 minutes!"

  • Got some songs with a guitar sound that I love.

  • Brilliant. The Brits had us beat musically in the sixties. Tally ho!

  • high fidelity to the studio version

  • this vintage footage is the best!

    thanks!

  • Pete died? I'm shocked

  • I love this song

  • Came in a little early with the solo :)

  • @norrisonthespot Still, this 'proves' that this is a live performance.

  • OK, this live performance is raw, unpolished. But that's what I love about rock and roll. Its supposed to be that way especially live. Dave's solo wacked out on him a bit here but his chording is good. He created many of the great chord runs in Kinks music. I saw the Kinks "Low Budget" tour in Seattle at the Paramount August 1978. Dave Davies was on fire that night and really worked hard to give a great performance. He played impressive and exciting lead guitar that night.

  • Terrific video, thanks! After seeing the trainwreck at 1:19 though, does anyone doubt Jimmy Page played the solo on "You Really Got Me"?

  • @Beyer160 Having heard this, I'm positive Page didn't play You Really Got Me. It sounds like the same guitarist, he's just playing in a more controlled style here. Besides, Ray, Dave and Page all say that it was Dave playing that solo.

  • @BlackMonk66 Recently saw a Kinks documentary that was screened in L.A. Shel Talmy was in attendance and was asked if Jimmy Page did play the solo. He confirmed that Page was a session player on the Kinks first few singles but DID NOT play the solo on You Really Got Me.

  • @twentiethcenturyman I wouldn't trust Talmy's memory on these things. It's pretty well established that Page played on later album tracks. Ray insists that Page wasn't on You Really Got Me, though I'm not sure about his memory, either. The rhythm guitarist's name changes depending on the interview. My guess is it's a case of the famous name gets attached to the most famous songs.

But "first few singles?" That would include "Long Tall Sally" and "You Do Something To Me."

  • pete quaife died yesterday.

what show/concert is this recording from?

  • @5star555555555, this is from the Beat-Beat-Beat, German TV

  • @nyrainbow4 i got a question ...is dalton playing the bass on this 1966 tour?..cause quaife had a broken leg..thanks by the way excellent video!!

  • @5star555555555 damn didnt find out till now. That sucks so much :( All the rockstars from the 60's are by far the greatest and will be remembered even when they pass. RIP Pete!!

  • you dont see too many black guys getting into Kinks songs like the guy at 1:50

  • legendary song

  • Great classic video! Ron
