  • Nice radio! Is that DAK? Looks old school. A-99 antenna?

  • @BananaJSSI colt excalibur...same as Jumbo1...antenna is now dismantled(was a GPA 5/8...Now i'm using inverted V

  • @micheldezanger I used a V-Quad back in the 1970's. It worked great for DX

  • @BananaJSSI haha back in the seventies here in Belgium...cb was illegal, or let us say hardly legal...so the antennas were often well hidden....

  • @micheldezanger That is very interesting because back in the 1970's I would work Germany on the DX. I have many QSL cards I have received from there, lol. I ran a Hy Gain Quad Beam way up high on a tower with a 500 watt Linear amp.

  • @BananaJSSI end the seventies propagation was good for DX, and with your 500watt on a 4element beam, i'm sure you worked the whole world!!! ...I did some nice contacts, but not in a legal way....I had a HAM international concorde, and a Jumbo back in time...without amp and on a vertical 5/8

  • @micheldezanger Nice set up you had! I did indeed work the world many many times. I still work DX daily. Ireland two days ago, Hawaii every night and lots of Australia. I will put up my Di-pole antenna tomorrow. I will set it on the horizontal for DX. I also had a 5/8 ground Place back in the 70's and early 80's. It was a Hy-Gain Penetrator.

  • 34 LSB is used for Portugueses truck drivers but not else, many people used that mode and frequency to speak with trucker driver when he go for other european counties to make your deliveries.

  • Correct: this guys talks in portuguese (not brazilian). Good catch. 73

  • I use to live for DX when I was a kid. Every day after school I would go the mailbox and pick up my QSL cards that had been sent to me. I use to use a CPI freq. counter with my high freq. rigs, made things alot easier. I currently have a Citizen MPL 5 hooked up as of this evening. Hoping to work some DX .

  • Nice radio! I have worked many stations world wide that use Colt Radios. I have many rigs, but it is my TRC 458 I like best. I bought it new in Feb. 1978 and it still works perfect. I had the high freqs. put in 30 years ago. I have older radios that I bought before my 458 and they all work great. DX is what it's all about.

  • this was a good radio at that time..to bad no freq. counter..but the audio is great..

Most DX i did with this Radio, and with a Ham international Jumbo, also a superb rig!

  • Still got to like the old Colt Excalibur! :)

  • yeah...somehow i regret not having it anymore..the audio from this rig was superb!...

  • I love my 2995dx! i have won the World CB Radio Championship twice with it! 2004 SSB champ and 2006 all around champion

  • congratulations!...it is indeed a very good and very robust rig and an excellent summer holliday rig!!...:-);....at this time mine is a litlle asleep and dusty :-) and waiting for the 10-11 meter band to go open..

  • ive got a rci 2990

  • hi,RCI is great! yours is better then mine :-)

    rci2950.....

  • Nice Station :) Had a similar looking one without SSB for many years. "Stabo XF-2100 Professional" 12 Channel AM/FM with 0.5W output. *lol*

  • Hello Berlin, It is(was) a good radio..I bought it for some 50 euro.. i had the same one some 20 years ago..couldn't resist (nostalgic i guess)...

  • for sure, had "BV-131" and a "K46-EuropeDX" antenna on the roof of my parents house. Remembering many DX in the mid 80's with Italy, Greece, Turkye, England and in the early morning hours (3:00-7:00CET) at channel 5AM with the states! It was a great time. :)

  • Ranger RCI 2950 is a lot bether radio

  • it sure is!!! lol!! the guy i've exchanged it with didn't know how to handle the RCI2950 (lol)..so it didn't take me long...done great DX with it...on 10meter and on 11!! fun fun fun!!!

  • It's Portuguese!

  • Vervolg....

  • Portugal is usually heard on cb channel 34-35-and 36 usb. Normally if you hear steady noise on just those channels it is good to say your open to portuagl and spain, they usually dont speak english..

  • that looks like a cherokee base. if it is hold on to it!

  • it is a Colt Excalibur SSB...very fine Rig...I exchanged it a couple of weeks ago for a Ranger RCI2950....

  • I agree, looks VERY simular!

  • what type of antenna are you using there,it looked like a half wave,if so change to a 5/8 wave or bigger and you will get better results on the dx.

    73s gm7

  • actually it is a 5/8 wave, but that's not very clear in the video....watch the video response..I have added a 3 meter long diamond X300N, easier to compare the lenght..

it is the same antenna I had some 25years ago,

at that time it was called skylab..

it catches a lot of wind :-))

  • colt excalibur ssb..a little like the ham international Jumbo...pll02A based..it is on old Radio i did some mods on..missing a frequency counter on the receive :-)..never the less it is my prefered radio..works very fine, very stable..clear modulation...

  • That is Portuguese 100 %, I speak Portuguese fluently, 34 LSB has been a channel used by Portuguese and Brazilians for decades. By the way Portugal and Brazil all speak Portuguese. Macanudo is the term used for radio operator. It was nice to hear that again, we haven't had propagation for years. 73 to all.

  • thanks for the info!

    73

  • Hi "macanudo" !

I think that you listened to Portuguese Station , it is not Brazilian station absolutely !, "macanudo" is used in Brazil too, macanudo = good operator ok !

Look my you tube videos ok

    73 / 51 from Brazil - David 3SD214

  • ok...this leaves me questions..anyway it's Brazil or Portuguese..,

This time of the year latin-americans come nicely true ...unfortunately, I don't understand much Portuguese, nor Spanish...will have to work on this :-))....I sure will look at your video's tonight..(and change the tittle of mine here)..thanks !

Hope to have a QSO one day with you..until then

    73, 51 from Belgium Michel OPEZ029

  • Actually is someone from Brazil speaking with a guy from Buenos Aires. If you pay atention you'll hear "macanudo" expresion very comun in brazilian wich means everything's ok...also you'll hear Radio Brazil

  • oh.. oops, thanks for the info!!I will correct this..right away!..I knew it was Portugees talking..that is why i presumed...thanks again!

  • CB Bakske...Heb ik ooit ook nog een aantal jaren gedaan ...yeah ''zenden'' kwamen die goeie tijden maar eens terug!...
