  • Nastase is unique..,was the artist of tennis, not a tennis machine as Bjorg, Federer and others..

  • if he was such a natural talent he would have won more than the 2 majors he won or was it 3. he couldnt do it he wasnt talented enough.

  • wrong.Federer is the best ever tennis player.period.

  • who coached ilie nastase.??

  • Ilie Nastase was the best entertaining and funny tennis man in the world and i think if he was a little bit serious in his carrier he probably was the best tennis man of All Time.. He enter on the field just to amuse the people and make fun ! LOL Awesome man. Keep up the good work Ilie :)

  • Ilie Nastase made a difference in this world, and that's a great achievement !!

  • Multumim Ilie Nastase!

  • He may have been the greatest PHYSICAL natural talent, but, like Mickey Mantle, he could not escape his own inner demons. What is between your ears is also very important.

  • @trwent Completely agree. He should have won 2-4 more grand slams, but squandered his talent with a lack of focus, as you say. He was also an obnoxious pig--he once called Arthur Ashe the "N" word during a match.

  • The George Best of tennis...

  • who sings this song?

    thx

    Go ILIE!

  • The full title of the song is: "Opus feat. jerry - live is life (2008 version)"

  • Bravo Ilie!

A stellar career that unfortunately was never crowned with the Davis cup. The glorious years of the Romanian tennis have pretty much set when Ion Tiriac and Ilie Nastase retired from competition.

Thank you Ilie and Ion for everything you accomplished for yourselves but for Romania and the Romanians too. Just like Nadia Comaneci, you are the ones that brought Romania to the world's attention. Once again the only word worthy of your excellence is BRAVO!

  • Nasty Nastase was my favourite .....

  • Greatest Natural Talent. Yes. Many of peers have said the same thing. (Ashe, Connors, Mac..) Genius shot maker. In Toronto (1975) I saw him serve and then flip his racquet as he approached the net (holding it by it's head) to volley his opponents return OFF THE HANDLE for a winning forehand drop volley. The ball had so much spin it actually bounced BACKWARD toward the net !!! UNBELIEVABLE TALENT. No mental toughness but he did win the Masters 4X at least. (Almost 5)

  • my #1 fave, thanks for posting!

  • With his talent he should have won 7 or 8 majors. When he played great he was incredible. Total head case though.

  • I agree completely.

Poetry in motion; and I thought that years before McEnroe described him that way.

His effortless backhand smashes were astonishing, and he could connect with a shot when you thought he was going to miss it; kind of like Ali being able to pull back just far enough to avoid a punch when you thought he was going to get clobbered.

  • I luv u Nasty...my Romanian Tennis Idol...
