very cool...all though I think a traditional dry sound would have suited the more acoustic, clean sounds of the music. The distortion took away from the sweet jazz sounds of the band.
I'll tell ya after reading all the equipment you were using I was expecting bad playing and just a lot of equipment, but you really nailed that jam. Inspired me to start looking at getting some equipment myself. Thnx.
Always great to see someone having a blast playing music (especially when it's this good!)
RE: earlier comment on Hohner harps & sticky reeds--any harp will get sticky reeds if you don't rinse your mouth well with clear water before playing! (Advice from Toots Thielemans.)
this is a hohner blues ms blues harp? It there anyone who might be able to answer this for me? I have a bunch of those harps and im starting to think they aren't very good. i like the tone, but the reeds seem to stick after playing them for a while. I have marine band too, which is much easier to play the higher notes, and without any reed problems. what is the best harmonica out there? i hear special 20 is good. any thoughts?
what i do know, i just read it (just gathering some information, just started playing a little) that the Honer's from after '90 aren't that great, the guy mentioned the MS blues harp, he doesn't advise hohners to anyone anymore, except for older models, maybe this helps, if you want ill give you the url to his tutorial-site.
Marine Band is defiitely the best known one around. IT's pretty much decent in everything, which makes it versatile. The Special 20 is the easiest model to use for bending, from what I've read on the internet. There are others, like the Big River, that are a bit harder to bend with and take a while to really break into. That's all I know.
That was Killer! Hey check out my vid BLACK SWAMP BLUES to hear my take on instrumental old school original blues....not chezzy blues.....your really good, Play out much i take it?
Hey man, how did you recorded this? Whitch equipments do you use? Did you put the playback, pluged the mic on the amp and recorded everything? It'a tube amp, and the mic, what's this one you use here?
Also, dude, play some really dirty stuff for us! Want to hear it! Play some South Side Boogie stuff... Man, what a thought... Or Roadhouse Blues... :-D
Man, you are amazing! Who are your influences? I am so into Paul Butterfield man! Well, hopefully soon, well, Christmas, I am getting a Green Bullet, and hopefully a nice low-watt tube amp. I will post some stuff of me... Keep Harpin'!
What was the backup from? Nice to see the closet you came out of...

I have a "special 20" and really like it.
I guess MS series are just made for repairing them and buying new reeds)
