@casmatori they do look confusing from what you see in the vid however if you were able to see the whole roundabout they would make more sense. The driver filming was in the correct lane for his entry and exit point (let's say it's entrance 3). The driver to the right also entered the roundabout from entrance 3 from the right most lane therefore he should have kept to the inside lane. The road markings indicating a crossover of lanes are for those entering from entrance 1 and 2 only.
Bad road markings, but that's no excuse for not looking where you are going!
And as for the guy who thinks roundabouts don't work and cause congestion: all the research shows exactly the opposite: they are the best way to organise an intersection, if you have room to build one, for traffic flow and safely (except for cyclists where they are slightly more dangerous than traffic lights ). Perhaps you are just not a very good at using them.
Roundabouts are my number one pet hate. I drive for a living and every day, without fail, they cause me stress, grief and I've even experienced road rage because of a flaming stupid roundabout. Roundabouts really need to go because they don't work. They cause congestion, road rage and accidents.
thats one shite of a road, fair enough if you drive it everyday but if your not from around it can be confusing...and everyone makes mistakes including you>>>
Why are there two sets of intersecting lane markings? You were both following your own lane marking, so why does he have lane markings that send him into your lane?
The different lines correspond to different entry points on the roundabout.
The lines that might seem to direct him into my lane are meant for drivers 1 or 2 entrances (to the roundabout) to the right so he should not be there as he entered the roundabout at the same entrance I did but I didnt include that in the video unfortunately.
It is a joke of a system alright but I was right beside him when he changed lanes without looking or even indicating first.
@Scruit Look at 0:06 - the lane markings that appear to merge into the cameraman's lane are for people coming from the far side of the roundabout (which is traffic light controlled). The guy just to the right should have maintained course in the direction he's pointing at 0:06
The lines on the roundabout are confusing - a cut off is inevitable.

The fault lies with the roundabout. the markings are VERY misleading.

In New Jersey, a move like that would be called giving a lot of clearance.
