This song was played so much on German TV. I love it. Sure it's bad, but bad in a good way. It's so cheesy it's brillant again. You can't listen to this song without smiling (at least I can't). It definitely did not deserve the last place, becaue some songs were just boring, and this one is so catchy and bright. I forgot most performances right after the show, but I keep singing this one.
Pete Waterman should stick to what he is good at and that is playing with his model railways. The backing vocals on the night were bloody awful no wonder the UK came last! should n't graham norton be commentating on ireland and not the UK?

The staging looks very contemporary which is good, just wish josh would interact with the girls a bit as he walks by them. I bit more charisma and fun is needed.

@sebbivism if they didn't, chances are there just wouldn't be a eurovision in a few years time... the "Big Four" contribute a lot towards the running costs of this event, if they were dropped from the automatic final, chances are at least one would leave soon and the whole thing would start to struggle budgetry wise.
@DanielWhit Yes I already know that.. Big Four needs to put some afford in sending good songs and take the contest little more seriously! Germany did that this year - and they won.. UK produces good music normally, why not show it in Eurovision??

Did you see the male dancer in the red shirt make a mistake? When the men came out of the boxes they do a forward roll but that guy dropped his shoulder and he rolled on to his side and had to struggle to get up in time with the second dancer.
love the design of the UK set design! It's something new, however, if they were rotating, it would look like the boxes out of the Azerbaijani entries 2009 video!
that sounds cr*p to me.... what a let down after a great song last year.....this song would have been great about 25 years ago.... however everyone except pete waterman seems to have moved on - hes stuck in a timewarp and is abit of a joke... this will be 25 out of 25.... and i very much doubt would have got through the semi final route....

This has improved alot over all, his voice sounds better and the show looks alot better... but come on, Josh! Connect with the dancers, don't just walk by like that! Share the moment, for God's sake! :)
IMO I like the song but always go on and off it. I think Josh would have much stronger stage presence if he were to sing something in his own comfort zone, like when he sang 'cry me a river'. I think a process were the bbc could select a singer at first internally then get a variety of songs which we can choose from and vote for our favourite. That way the writers won't have to complain about writing a song for 6 different vocalists. :) just a thought

@TerenceLFC Sorry Terence I agree with shyic. It all looks a bit cheap to me and nothing particularly interesting happens, though I suppose they might have a gimmick to come. So far there's no new ideas, just copies. The light box from Ukraine 08, the fabric billowed and released from Bosnia 09, the breakdancers from Norway 09.
We need to put more effort in, like Greece, who have been rehearsing for months. This has been put together is a few weeks. But ... good luck to the UK.
@Fatima502 IT LOOKS CHEAP? WHAT ARE YOU ON? It looks very expensive. There is loads of effort in this choreography. That was a ridiculous comment to make. There are 11 light boxes, all of which make a very clear podium. It reminds me of Sydney harbour in a way. It looks good and not cheesy for the song. Love the drapes too :) Some people are never ever happy.
@TerenceLFC I want to agree with your Terence, what I was trying to say was that overall we need a bigger effort. Pete Waterman was on Loose Women this week saying that the singers only had six hours to learn the song before Your Country Needs You. Other countries had months of preparation to that point, of the song and the staging. Why not the UK ? As for the set I'm pleased you like it but perhaps you haven't seen as many contests as me. We've had this sort of thing before.

Whoever commissioned Pete Waterman for a start should be shot. Josh comes across as a nice guy but unfortunately the song and staging is so horific there's very little he can do. I feel sorry for him and the UK. Let's hope it beats dead last!
Thankyou for some of the nicer comments now. This song is not as bad as some of the entries and the choreography is up there with the best, this is a really good stage effort from the UK. How often do we see this? Not often.
@hamer73 I prefer the arrangement of the new (or should I say, soundtrack) version...but this is now the third reincarnation of the song (i.e. the music video version), and to me, I think the tempo, as you said, is far too slow. It sounds a little boring and laboured. It is a disco track dressed up as a pseudo-ballad (maybe to try to make it more "My Time", perhaps?). I do particularly miss the cheesy synth intro of the original version! :)

hey, it's not everyone's taste, but i think it will stand out from a ballad swamped contest this year because it's uptempo and the vocals are actually pretty good. :)
(and the only uptempo song other people like is France's, but have you seen him perform it live? :} not the best im afraid France.)
love the stage design too, it will get jury votes for sure. :)

Did you see the male dancer in the red shirt make a mistake? When the men came out of the boxes they do a forward roll but that guy dropped his shoulder and he rolled on to his side and had to struggle to get up in time with the second dancer.

that sounds cr*p to me.... what a let down after a great song last year.....this song would have been great about 25 years ago.... however everyone except pete waterman seems to have moved on - hes stuck in a timewarp and is abit of a joke... this will be 25 out of 25.... and i very much doubt would have got through the semi final route....

This has improved alot over all, his voice sounds better and the show looks alot better... but come on, Josh! Connect with the dancers, don't just walk by like that! Share the moment, for God's sake! :)

IMO I like the song but always go on and off it. I think Josh would have much stronger stage presence if he were to sing something in his own comfort zone, like when he sang 'cry me a river'. I think a process were the bbc could select a singer at first internally then get a variety of songs which we can choose from and vote for our favourite. That way the writers won't have to complain about writing a song for 6 different vocalists. :) just a thought

@TerenceLFC Sorry Terence I agree with shyic. It all looks a bit cheap to me and nothing particularly interesting happens, though I suppose they might have a gimmick to come. So far there's no new ideas, just copies. The light box from Ukraine 08, the fabric billowed and released from Bosnia 09, the breakdancers from Norway 09.
We need to put more effort in, like Greece, who have been rehearsing for months. This has been put together is a few weeks. But ... good luck to the UK.

@Fatima502 IT LOOKS CHEAP? WHAT ARE YOU ON? It looks very expensive. There is loads of effort in this choreography. That was a ridiculous comment to make. There are 11 light boxes, all of which make a very clear podium. It reminds me of Sydney harbour in a way. It looks good and not cheesy for the song. Love the drapes too :) Some people are never ever happy.

@TerenceLFC I want to agree with your Terence, what I was trying to say was that overall we need a bigger effort. Pete Waterman was on Loose Women this week saying that the singers only had six hours to learn the song before Your Country Needs You. Other countries had months of preparation to that point, of the song and the staging. Why not the UK ? As for the set I'm pleased you like it but perhaps you haven't seen as many contests as me. We've had this sort of thing before.

Whoever commissioned Pete Waterman for a start should be shot. Josh comes across as a nice guy but unfortunately the song and staging is so horific there's very little he can do. I feel sorry for him and the UK. Let's hope it beats dead last!

Thankyou for some of the nicer comments now. This song is not as bad as some of the entries and the choreography is up there with the best, this is a really good stage effort from the UK. How often do we see this? Not often.

@hamer73 I prefer the arrangement of the new (or should I say, soundtrack) version...but this is now the third reincarnation of the song (i.e. the music video version), and to me, I think the tempo, as you said, is far too slow. It sounds a little boring and laboured. It is a disco track dressed up as a pseudo-ballad (maybe to try to make it more "My Time", perhaps?). I do particularly miss the cheesy synth intro of the original version! :)
