  • i love morningstar,i also eat tofu, my diet is similar to what your describing in your video...because of this my doctor says i'm extremely healthy,i've been a vegetarian since 2009.

  • Why would you wanna be a vegan bro?

  • @AKCharlie47 because of all of the ways animal protein has negative effects on the human body... from heart disease, 70% of all cancers, diabetes, cholesterol... they all related to animal protein in the system... and that is just a few

  • @Klimatik Kool man, I was just interested, I am 16 and could not live without meat.

It must of been a hard decision to make.

  • @Klimatik Hey dude, by any change did your parents ever criticize you about being vegan? my parents insist that eating meat is healthy and necessary, and of course we both know that`s a pile of b*llshit. Sometimes my grandmother comes home and there's 3 adults trying to prove me wrong, showing me "scientific evidence" (which i find EXTREMELY hypocrite according to their believes!) and you know that kinda puts me off track and i start believing shit that simply isn't true.. Any advice?

  • chana masala is the shiiiit

  • i want to be vegan, and like most things in life, it's most likely easier said than done. I'm doing a destroy and rebuild kinda thing with p90x and Insanity. I'm doing a round of Insanity,to lose weight, then p90x,to build muscle. can you help me out?

  • @xB1aCKOu7x @xB1aCKOu7x sure it is not a problem to help out, I assist with nutriton plan all the time, check out

  • great great video..good job encouraging the vegan and real food....I'm also vegan and you do eat a lot but with very few calories...keep up the good work and thanks for encouraging us with your ideas.

  • @rollininHislove I appreciate you watching!!! sorry for taking so long to get back to you!

  • Hey do you take the p90x recovery drink?

  • @selwyn21 actually I don't take them, since going vegan there are too many things in it I cant ingest.

  • You know I am really starting to believe that b12 isnt as big a deal as some people say, again great job with your success.

  • @scottsteezo I'm the opposite. I'm just now coming to the realization that it is a huge deal. B 12, along with B 6 and omega-3s, helps get rid of homocysteine. Without it all the potential benefits of our heart-healthy diet might be for naught. Just make it a part of your morning regimen; let one tablet dissolve under your tongue first thing in the morning.

  • @Klytemnest you are right, they are important, but you can get them from sources other than tablets and pills. plenty of fruits and veggies have the nutrients we all need

  • @scottsteezo it can be for some, myself I am not too worried about it but it can be found in other sources such as Tempeh, miso, sea vegetables, and other plant foods are sometimes reported to contain vitamin B12.

  • @Klimatik Also nutritional yeast flakes

  • Just curious how do you address the vitiman b12 defiency with the vegan lifestyle? Great job with your continued success.

  • @scottsteezo B12 s a water-soluble vitamin with a very low recommended daily intake requirement, about 2-3 micrograms per day. That's MICROgrams, not milligrams. In addition to having extremely low intake requirements, Vitamin B12 is stored in the liver, kidneys, and muscle tissue, and most B12 (65-75%) is reabsorbed by the body instead of excreted. A deficiency could take from 5 to 20 years of inadequate intake to develop.

    badassvegan com

  • @Klimatik . I mostly agree. Some authorities recommend 6 micrograms of B-12 per day. Also, while it is true that it takes some time for the body to use up its stores of B-12, such stores only develop if for years one has been consuming B-12 in excess of what one needs. So for vegetarians who are transitioning to veganism that means that they cannot really rely on having enough stores to last them for the rest of their lives. Play it safe - take one 500 mcg tablet daily. I do.

  • When you talk about the oat meal (3rd meal), is it cooked or uncooked? Stupid question but please reply.

  • @fireworkgalore actually you can do both at this time though I was just doing cooked.

  • @fireworkgalore badassvegan com

  • awesome vid and great job promoting the veganism and fitness. I'm in Insanity now and am going to be doing an Insanity/p90x hybrid in 5 weeks or so when I'm done with Insanity. I'll check out "The China Study" for sure. You should check out Brendan Brazier's "Thrive" book, vegan tri-athlete and responsible for creating Vega. The book is great, and no I am certainly not affiliated with him or the publisher, just a great book about vegan nutrition for both athletes and non-athletes alike.

  • @insamsara002 One more thing.. the quinoa, that stuff is great... tastes great and full of protein and nutrition (it's pronounced "keen-wa"... took me forever to figure out the correct way to day it!) Keep spreading the word and have great workouts, Mike

  • @insamsara002 lol yeah I pronounce it wrong everytime and i actually know how to pronounce it... it is sad. Thanks for watching Mike!!!

    badassvegan com

  • @Klimatik I love quinoa! But it is not a particularly good source of protein. 100 g of raw quinoa ( 368 cal) contain about 14 g of protein. Not bad, not great. If you are looking for a better whole-food source of protein, consider lentils, beans and split peas. A head of cauliflower is about 11 grams of protein and has a lot fewer calories than quinoa. I am enjoying a delicious pink lentil/quinoa stew as we speak!

  • @insamsara002 wow sorry man I thought I responded to you, yeah I have met Brendan, and I am actually in the process of testing out some products for the company and reviewing them.

  • hey! I'm a vegan and I started p90x last week. Awesome to see someone else doing it that is also a vegan:)

    take care

  • How is the workout going for you?

  • @Klimatik great! well, of course it hurts

everywhere haha. I started my third week

today, I did core and did every move, I'm

so happy because I could barely move

on week 1. The one I don't like is Yoga, is

the only workout that I don't look forward to

    doing....

  • I know man I hated Yoga as well but man it is really the best thing for you. it helps the muscles grow.

  • @ilovehummus2 Oh yeah Vegan is the only way to go!!!

  • @ilovehummus2 badassvegan com

  • Morningstar farms patties are made with milk and eggs

  • not all of them, depends on the ones you get.

  • you kind of sound like JayZ lol but i Wonder...how do you maintain your BMI with so few cals?

  • lol yeah people say that. but I keep up my BMI because I eat a lot but not high calorie foods. my calories are low but my food intake is high

  • Great video! I'm a vegan who's going raw as soon as my Vitamix comes in the mail, and I'm also going to be starting my 1st round of p90x in a few months. I'm psyched.

One question - why are your calories SO low? As a guy who's working out intensely every day and planning on going more intense, shouldn't your be AT LEAST eating 3000/day? Eventually your going to start losing muscle if you're not providing your body enough fuel, because you're burning far more than you take in.

  • lol man I have been doing this for over 2 years, it is a myth that you have to eat that many calories. eating 3000 calories everday is not health, and you will see once you go raw, to get to 3000 calories you will be eating ever hour. you also have to take into consideration, every one has a different goal, I am 32 now and I have been the huge muscle guy in the past. I like the way I am now... lol getting to old to have all that weight on me.

  • Hmm, it seems to me that lots of raw vegans take in far less calories than I'd expect, so I'd been starting to wonder if it was a myth too. I just really want to make sure that I don't lose weight, because I'm trying to GAIN back from being really ill. I don't know how many calories I really need, then, if the average calorie intake recommendations aren't actually true. I guess I just try to follow my body and if I start to lose weight eat more, but if I'm not then I know I'm fine.

  • actually the avg calorie intake is only 2000 so you will be fine and it depends on what you are eating if you use up a portion of your intake with complex carbs you will be able to gain

  • i am vegan to also like 8 month ago, what recomendation can you give me of nutrition for have a better body with the gym? i know that there is vegan creatine do you eat vegan creatine?

  • actually I have not heard of the vegan creatine . but I will check into it though. as far as nutrition goes try to get as much UN processed food as you can.

  • Ok, thanks. iam thinking of doing that also. How did that half marathon work out for you? I hope you represented for us p90xers. lol. any more videos for us?

  • lol well I am still training for the marathon, it is Feb 21st so I am almost there. and I will have a vid most likely at the end of the marathon,

  • Whats up man, what kind of result did u get from doing p90x in the morning and insanity at nights?

  • I actually was getting good results but stopped after 30 days because I started training for a half marathon.

  • nice video :). vegans r awesome!!

  • lol thank you, we are aren't we?!?!!?

  • Do you have a meal a week that you eat what ever you fancy?

    Thanks.

  • naw just the same thing everyday.

  • Don't you get bored? Don't you want variety or different flavors?

  • Hey, nice diet. Have you thought of adding more salads and raw veggies?

What is the "kanoy" that you're having for dinner? And how do you spell it?

    Thanks. nice vid.

PS: What do you do for craving if you have any ;))

  • that is tru i just finished day 3 and i can barely walk!

  • lol

    you will love it though

  • danng dude just finished day 2 of insanity. Officially 100000000's times more intense in p90x!

  • oh yeah P90X gives you more size and insanity kills the legs

  • hey bro. i play a bit of basketball and read that u do too. i want to increase my vertical jump. did p90x increase yours? if so by how much? any other tips u know of? i know plyo helps but acc. to u is anything better out there? also, can u dunk?? :)

  • oh yeah is will help with that, now I was dunking before I had surgery, but it got my legs very strong and the jumping came back quickly

  • I am 6'6"

  • :( me at a measly 6'. i am getting highly demotivated coz my jump aint improving. thanks for the reassurance. i hope i make it

  • good good....just ordeered insanity im stoked!

  • it is a hell of a program!!!

  • wasssup long time no talk! haha just finished p90x 1 year!posting video soon check it out

  • lol what is going on how are the workouts going for you.

  • bigsho post some more vids or photos, i need more inspiration lol.

  • Mc Lovin I will soon, lol

  • awesome! I like that you are not using supplements or protein powders. I am in the middle of phase 2 with p90x. I don't use any recovery drink, supplements or anything. I just mostly fruits and veggies through the day and then at night I cook something up. I am mostly vegan too. I enjoy your videos. keep posting your progress. Great Job!

  • thank you so much for watching, got love what you eat!!!

  • I'm so glad you made this video. I'm going vegan and doing the P90X and pretty skinny i wanted to know are you maintaining your weight and what books do you recommend for preparing Vegan food . I'm already reading the china study as well.

  • to be honest I find alot of my recipes online so that helps alot. FREE, lol.

  • i just watched your video and i had the calculator out while you were saying the numbers, and it was under 1300 calories, but you said its close to 1800. I have eaten a diet that averaged 1800 calories and i lost 50 pounds that way, but 1267 calories seems so low if your numbers are correct.

But man 6 rounds, wow. Im aboutto complete my first round, i hope i can do 6 rounds.

  • not sure where I messed up but yeah it is around 1800. thanks man I apprediate it too, you will be at 6 rounds before you know it

  • i dont understand why go vegan to each is own but i think its ridiculous but good job bro

  • you really cant call something ridiculous if you don't understand it can you...

  • dont take it the wrong way i dosnt make sense but like i said to each is own your diet seems complicated but if it works for u more power to ya

  • No, lol not at all but if you think about it eating the wrong way is more complicated all the way. I just eat everything you eat without meat and I don't eat all the things that people know is bad for them but still eat anyway. nothing complicated at all.

  • Are you worried about eating too much soy products?

  • naw to be honest after reading my book of the month, lol I havent had processed foods

    I make everything now

  • whyd you go vegan? nutritional benefits only? or was there a deeper meaning lol

  • just for nutrition reasons, just wanted to put pure goodness in my body, lol

  • its ridiculous to me going vegan lol i eat what i want and i am in shape granted i just eat clean but this dudes diet is a little too much u cant live your life counting calories

  • Love your videos! I am just about done with my first round of p90x (4 weeks to go) and plan on doing it again. When you start a round, have you been going back to the beginning of the nutrition recommendations (40 protein, 40 carbs, 20 fat) or do you just continue along the with the final stage (60 carbs, 20 protein, 20 fat). Sounds like the you just continue the final stage but wanted to check.

As a fellow vegan, I love having you as a spokesperson for the lifestyle!

  • yeah start the begining, but I keep the nutrition the same as when I finished, so you don't have to go back to the fat shredder, lol and thanks for nominating me, lol

  • ive been looking for a good protein bar that is low in sodium and sugar and also hi in fiber do you know of any good ones?

  • clif bars are the best out there I think

  • Will you increase your calorie intake when you begin incorporating insanity?

  • NOPE KEEPING IT THE SAME.

  • Hola brother! I'm also hollestic for 2years now.

How ever, i want to say thanks on the protent shake. i was about to spend so much money on protent powder's. I also do the veggie cheese good job and oakmeal. Now, i had request the receipt on protent bar.

    Hotep,

    Johanna

  • lol I havent made my own bars in a while but I did put the recipe on here though

  • Big Sho! What kind of camera did you use to shoot this?? it looks and sounds great!

  • actually it was a Sanyo, can't think of the name of it though, it is great for video, but it sucks for stills, lol

  • Oooo those Sanyo cameras a niiice. Beachbody sent me one to record my transformation story, but I had to give it back. Finally just got one of my own this week! You should probably do the same before Beachbody's "legal eagles" find out.

  • lol no this one is not theirs , lol I saw that it was a good camera so I went and got one of my own

  • Hey man i just started P90x yesterday and its really no joke. Im hurting lol but my concern is the nutrition. i know you are a vegan now and all but is there a way to eat and make it easy and healthy cuz for for real all this measuring and watching calories i dont really have time to be watching that and im not becoming a vegatarian until jan 2010. So you got any advice?

  • I am not sure how you don't have time to watch what you eat, that is an excuse, you had time to write me and to look on youtube... that means you have time to take care of yourself... don't cop out now, if you really want it, then you will do it... it takes longer to get in the car and wait in the drive through than it does to do something good for yourself

  • I feel you on that and im on my third day and honestly i want the best results from this p90x and your right i do want to do something good for my self i wasnt making an excuse just wanted to know if there was an easier way to make sure you eat right i was watching your video and there were alot of measurements and everything thats all

  • no I understand, but you have to watch how you word things, saying you can't do things means that it is impossible and really the fact is you just choose not to do it. but it really isn't work at all, lol in fact that is the easy part of working out

  • is a after workout drink good like p90x recovery drink or should i just drink water

  • Look for "Vega Whole Food optimizer". And also "Living Harvest Hemp Protein". Biochem also makes a 100% vegan protein

  • the HEMP IS GREAT, lol

  • you can do which ever you choose, just remember to count all of your calories

  • I say forget the calories, and watch the ingredients. only whole plant foods like fruits veggies, nuts, seeds and all the dishes you can make with them.

We were not meant to be putting chemicals in our body instead of calories. when you see low fat low sugar, think "chemical shit storm". You should know what everything is on your ingredients label without needing to be a scientist.

    truth

  • I am so with on you about eating natural, but you still have to watch what you eat to get the body that you want, there is truth in the saying " too much of a good thing"

  • oh yeah and LMAO @ "Chemical Shit Storm" you are so right

  • hey man i started doing p90x because of your videos so i would like to say thank you.

but i do have a few questions

lm on my 3rd week of p90x except i don't exactly do p90x totally i only want to work on my arms back chest shoulders and abs so ive been doin ab ripper 3 times a week and the chest and back, back and biceps, shoulder and arms, and chest and shoulders and along with that i do interval training. i eat a 1800 calorie diet and get 62g of protein a day.

I'd love to know what you think.

  • well ok I am going to be honest, you are robbing yourself of the program. if you actually apply yourself to the program you will get the same results that you see others get, but the way you are going now won't cut it.

  • How many grams of protein do you consume a day? and how many daily calories? Do you consume any nuts in your diet?

  • no nuts and as far as calories I would say it is right at 1800

  • hey man iv looked at the insanity program and it looks like p90x im on day 63 of p90x and was thinking of after day 90 to to start the insanity is it rely as hard as all the hype says and iv been doing the vegan nutrition that you said on your last video and im loving it thank you have helped me with a life change for the better

  • it is like the X but way more intense, there is no lag time at all, Tony may take a couple of seconds to explain a move and Shaune just keeps going, lol

  • You are so inspiring to me. I am a vegetarian and try my best to be an "at home vegan". You've given me some good nutrition ideas that I think I can stick to. I am on Day 4 of P90X and plan to stick with it for a long time. I am exhausted right now, hopefully that decreases over time. Thanks and keep posting, it's motivating to see someone with such amazing will power.

  • thank you for watching, and you can do it, you are already half way there

  • Sorry for the last partial post....... I accidentally posted the comment before I was done writing...... Anyway I would like to ease into a diet like yours. As you know it is hard to break years of bad habits and work good habits into your professional work day. Thanks for the info and videos. These really help keep me motivated on my little p90x journey.

  • I am glad I could help!!!

  • Hey man you're real inspiring. I have been doing p90x for about 60 days now and I am down 26 lbs. I am working hard to clean up my diet. The vegan thing your in to is where I

  • wow man way to go

  • Hey whats up :). first of all i am pretty impressed what you did ! respect! i just got one question for ya. did you grow taller over the tme you did p90x, or worked out in generel ? hoola @ me

  • lol no didnt grow after it, lol.

  • p90x and insanity? you're freakin amazing, lookin forward to the new vid

  • lol I know one week down and I survived, lol gut it is crazy man.

  • Check out raw food (things in their natural state, less any processed, etc.,) There are so many all natural things you can be implementing without having to resort to packaged "foods."

  • I certainly will. I am in a smooth transition to it. but love help

  • hey man im about to start p90x and i am trying to figure out the best route for me on food. I'll say how you use to look I'm like that 6'3 250 and im trying to lose this weight and get healthier.

  • just follow the nutrition guide and you will be fine.

  • bet ill try to go by the health store tomorrow. mr.indiana man lol..

  • np lol

  • heh, the chana masala is good!! i should know, i am an indian! gonna dump my sack of that expensive whey for sure. btw, u should try other indian meals as well (go ask ur indian friend) coz most of us are vegetarians. and our meals are like real high protein as well. best part, real low calories!! could u please give an estimate of the amt. of protein u get with ur current diet. i know u mentioned earlier that u dont really know, but just an estimate would do.

  • to be honest I really don't keep track at all, lol sorry.

  • INSANITY?....OOOOOH I'M SCARED FOR YOU!!!!! i WATCHED THAT INFORMERCIAL....GOOD LUCK WITH THAT!!!!!! :o)

  • lol I am on day 4 now, it is insane for sure. lol it is more cardio based.

  • I've been trying to go vegitarian for religious reasons but I could never workout because I wouldn't have enough energy/protein. This vid really helped me out man thx

  • no problem I am so glad I could help

  • youtube to see if its legit and sure enough I find you. And I just wanted to ask you think given my age will this work or maybe I should just stick to what im doing just wanted your opinion; hit me back later.

  • hey man im 15 to i was just like you just one grade higher. I used to be overweight just like your saying so i got the p90x and it works great ive been doing it for 10 days and have lost 34 pounds because my mom is a personal trainer so i have a very strict diet and she pushes me very hard. I highly recomend you get it because it works very well and those pounds you are looking to cut will be gone with much more. If you get it let me no and ill post a video of my diet for you. message me back

  • lol thanks mjjjj!!!

  • being that you want to run track and get into shape, you will be fine. just make sure you work on your form

  • Hey, I just started high school I'm 15 and well for my age I should be out running track and all that stuff. I'm in bad shape in my age I shouldnt be I think aout 20 pounds overweight I started working out have dumbbells been doing push ups, running , situps ect. for about 2 months and havnt seen any results because well I dont know what Im doing wanted to go to the gym but theres the whole I'm 15 thing so I sit down watching tv while Im going to bed and see P90x and I think why not I check

  • cool video, i am a new vegan just about 4 months into it, but it is going really well. I am feeling great, love to run into others doing the vegan thing and making videos. very cool

  • Thanks for watching, it is a great thing to eat clean, you can feel the difference huh?

  • hey you haven't made a video in a long time I actually became a vegan because of you i was a vegetarian before and now I'm raw vegan would wish for you to be my coach.

  • that is great to hear man. I have been transitioning alot with jobs and thing, but still havent missed a workout. I would love to coach you man, I am actully on the website under "DaBigSho"

I am actually going to be recruiting a coaching team, I just want to make sure that I get some dedicated people under me so they can coach others and make sure they take care of their people like I try to.

  • hey are u a coach for the beach body website? cuz im trying to find a coach so i can register.....i just recieved my p90x ....I thought before u order p90x they say being a member of their online support group is free but i dont know now because when i go to Wowy it says if I want to sign up with a credit card....but it shud b free!!!!??????did u use the website and how do i get free membership??

  • Yes I am a coach on there, Well to be honest man I have been a member so long that it WAS free when I joined, lol. Now to be apart of the message boards you can do that for free but to take full advantage of the site that is how they get you. you can find me under "DaBigSho"

  • very good. one of the best i have seen on youtube. 5 stars

  • Thank you so much I appreciate it

  • Big Show Much respect! Your commitment to vegan lifestyle is amazing. Question? Do you drink vegan alcohol or any alcohol at all? W/ football season on the horizon, I had to ask. I love beer. Ive lowered my intake to 1 or 2 a week followed by twice the amount of water. However, I hear vegan wines are not bad. Your thoughts

  • Actually I don't drink at all. I mean if you think about it, all drinks are vegan really, so by slapping vegan on the bottle they can charge a little more, lol but it is all the same.

  • very informative!

  • Thank you very much I appreciate it.

  • no thank you, your video's have been very informative and have inspired me to get alot fitter and you need to keep the videos coming. after watching your p90x videos i started pushing iron and have changed alot. again thanks

  • not sure, they should be good, just make sure that you still count those calories

  • do u think these natural protiens like Jarrow and the others are good?....what you think of taking vitemen pills with the

    p90x? (vegie vitemns)

  • Oh yeah and sorry I stopped using the vitamins, eating healthy will get you the vitamins that you need.

  • klimik you crazy i hear insanity is crazy, but good luck man.

  • LOL yeah I know, but I am Hype about what the results are going to be

  • what exactly is INSANITY? and nice to see you working hard.

  • it is intense workout that is basically more cardio than the P90X. But still as effective in 60 days

  • Are you going to do INSANITY like everybody else? Seems to be the trend right now...

  • Disregard! :):) I wrote that before the end of the video and you answered my question. P90X/INSANITY at the same time....that is a LOT of working out, but no doubt you can handle it! Let us know how it goes. Great video.

  • lol oh yeah, and if I can't handle it, I won't let my body know, lol

  • naw I am actually going to do it WITH the P90X. I will do the P90X in the morning and Insanity at night, it is going to hurt... but good, lol

  • thanks bro, still pushing all the way, make sure you keep me posted on how your results go

  • You weren't a vegetarian before were you?

Been watching ur videos and they are very inspirational stuff. I will be doing p90x program all the way through in January when we slow down on our lifting program, which isn't all that great. I already have all the equipment and stuff and did some workouts to check it out.....DAMN is all I have to say. Keep up the good work!
