  • my pony had to have colic surgery the other day too :'( it went well though!

  • pardon me,So what was the cause of the colic this time?

  • Ahhhh, Fairfield Equine! I live about a half hour from there. Thought I recognized the setup. My dream workplace.

  • was this at Fairfield Equine?

  • RUB MEH BELLY!!!!

  • i am going to be a vet some day

  • I wish I was able to afford a surgery like this, for our horse when he coliced...at least her recovered well.

  • you should wear caps ALL THE TIME at the surgery suite!!!!!!!!

  • so this is what my baby went through....

  • my horse had to have this :(

  • Was that yellow stuff she was rubbing on her hands like Soap on Steroids? o.O?

  • those are some huge f***ing intestines

  • never invisioned horses intestines to be that large... amazing that he is alive^^

    ~~~Dortae~~~
  • @Dortae a horses entire digestive system is about 100 ft long.
  • we just lost a two year to colic yesterday.makes me wonder how much damage is done when a horse is put on illegal drugs.he was trained by a chemist just before he came to us.about a month ago.he was dead lame too.colic is such a fucking piss off.
  • thats absolutely amazing. i never thought anything like that was possible. im so glad it is <3 so many horses die from colic so its amazing that they can be saved <3 :)
  • It's amazing how you can cut the body open, take out the guts and then just put it all back in nice and neatly with the patient surviving.
    One Question: Is colic caused by the twisting and derangement of the gastrointestinal tract?
  • There are many types of colic, the one you just described is a possiblilty, there is also impaction and gas colic.Impaction is when things get caught up in the digestive tract (very common in the flexures of the large colon) and these impactions can become a twisted gut if gravity takes effect.There is also gas colic which happens mostly in the foregut of the horse due to the cardiac sphyncter. Horses can't burp or regugitate. This can cause a build up of gas in the foregut which can cause colic
  • Thank you very much for your answer. I was confused. I used to think that colic referred to the twisted intestines and not the abdominal pain.
  • @screwusernames050
    my pony had the large colon colic.. bad times
  • no wonder they call it the LARGE intestine - at first i thought is was an enourmous grub and i said OH SHIT out loud
  • Yeah my lesson horse died of colic, if you have a horse and don't know much about it, please learn more!!! It is the most I can say because it is deadly and is a serious matter. I want to become and equine vet and try to find easy cures to specific kinds. Great video btw. Never seen a colic surgery.
  • colic is the main cause of death in horses. if it is dianosed early its easy to fix but if it is not noticed the animal can die on the spot. it true. i happened to this mare who had her first baby and 2 weeks later he coliced and dies right there on the spot. its sad to lose a horse like this.
  • i hope the horse is doing okay
  • did the way they put it in the room hert him
  • no. The way he's supported doesn't hurt him at all.
  • Doctor lady is hot!!!!!1
  • The way they took him out of there looked painful!
  • really cool video!! Very well done glad to see the horse got exceptional care!
  • wow super intéressant merci du partage c'Est assez impressionnant merci!!!
  • !!!!!!!!
    wow
    i was surprised when they pulled out the large intestine. it was so huge!!!! well, much bigger then that rat i've dissected.
  • i have never seen surgery berfore...now i know why so may horses don't make it
  • whats sad is when most horses get the more serious, twist collic, people just cant afford to pay for surgery :(
    -owner of 13 horses-
  • May i ask what i juat experienced?!?!?!
  • No surgery hurts any horses. I am an Equine Surgeon myself, and nothing that we do that involves surgery can harm any animal. Each seperate piece of equipment has been tested many times on "fake" horses, and made sure that no injury is taken. So, no worries. Each procedure done for horses is taken with extreme care and caution. There is no worries unless your horse is extremely ill or injured! :)
  • oh poor horse i think they should be more gentle
  • This is a wonderful educational video!!
    Thanks for offering it on this site.
  • Amazing Sterile Technique!! *CLAP CLAP CLAP CLAP*
    C-
  • wow it`s amazing i like this
  • does it hurt the horse any when it's hanged like that?
    It doesn't seem to nice to be hanged by the legs but I guess if they are vets then they know it's okay.
    Glad to hear the horse waas okay.
  • The horse was under anasthesia, he couldnt feel anything
  • o my god thats my horse!he got surgy not to long ago!he is a quarter horse gelding wo made a full recovery! he also looks like that it has to be him!his name is frosty.
