  • Not wat I was looking for but glad I klicked it I learned something today thank yhu

  • 3:55 Run Cap FAIL!

  • what will happen if you install a condenser fan motor blade up side down?

  • @texloi1 The fan won't be able to circulate the air through the coils and the system will shut down on high head pressure.

  • sweet.... that run cap got owned

  • that blade reminds me of a exhaust fan that I opened up the louvers and it had a bad metal smell that made me sick not sure what that smell was

  • @yoheath66 It could have been mold or just dust. Dust will make my nose swell up.

  • This is awesome, Thanks, I really appreciate the help!!! That took out the confusion about blades!

  • @phxhvac Thanks for watching.

  • helpful thanks

  • I wonder if this blade can be fitted onto a RC plane...

  • lol. That would be worth watching.

  • @DrZarkloff the plane would have to be raise more than 1.5 feet for it to work.:/

  • scary

  • What was going on at the end? Would like to see more and what caused it?

  • The fluid had leaked out of the run capacitor.

  • I honestly liked the fan description better than the booby cap.

  • This vid was about fan blades and 90% of the comments about capacitors, lol. I'm guessing they're related...?

I liked your digging into the ground analogy. But I'm sure someone out there might try to check it upside down, since the air blew up, haha.

You had it all building up to the universal hub. These too can be tricky given distance you need from the motor. The middle of the blade should align with the furthest recess of the shroud. Right?

  • Alot of the times replacement motors are longer than the OEM, and the shaft is too! Another thing to look for is the RPM's. If you walk upto a condensing unit and there's no stickers, odds are it isn't 1075. +/- 10% won't cut it for an 850. 3 prop, to a 4 prop, cfm's aren't the only thing that's gonna matter, Amperage (+/-5%) is also very crucial when sizing a blade to a retrofit motor.

Reguardless if you salvage the blade or not OEM's can be a headache sometimes.

  • it took me 3 times to figure out how to measure a 3 blade(head up my ass)measure radius and double. maybe this will help some one, cause the buttholes at the supplyhouse wont tell you.

  • Very good. I guess that I should have mentioned how to measure a three blade.

  • Im just waiting for the next Baker Distributing givaway! Making cap guns helps me wait too.

  • sneeky how you added in that cap gun you made at the end.

  • Thanks. I figured someone would get a kick out of it.

  • every video i become a better tech. thank you

  • Thanks for watching.

  • i want the full video of that failing cap

  • The fluid leaked out of the run cap. I already replaced it.

  • great vid dr z , what is up with the cap

  • The fluid leaked out.

  • I'd like to see a full video of that cap going bad and you replacing it.

  • Sorry I already replaced it.

  • What just happened to that cap? Was is it your fault? What did you do?

  • The fluid leaked out of the run cap. I replaced it.

  • ahhh what just happened to your run cap lol? please don't tell me that was not the ran cap for that new condenser fan motor that you installed?

BTW I have sad news I am afraid the college of whom I worked for had a turn over and decided to lay me off. Owe well the run cap shorting out made me smile :)

  • I'm very sorry to hear that you lost your job. But I'm glad that the run cap gave you a smile.

  • cool vid. that run cap was funny. you could do ha hole vid on it.lol was that a bard unit with a new motor? if yes why was the cap their?

  • The run cap was in a Bard unit. It wasn't the one that I showed in my most previous Bard video.

  • I'm guessing that's what happens to some run caps just before they fail completely. That was way cool to watch!

  • Thanks. I knew that everyone could appreciate a little fire.

  • Dr Z I have a question for you. I was changing a Condensor Fan Motor. I put my meter across the cap to let it discharge through my meter in case anything was left in it "my nerves are too shot for the screwdriver method" I then used a screwdriver to double check and nothing. So the cap was just laying in there "run cap bandit" and I then went to pull a wire from the cap and got a shock. I tingled some not really hiurt. Why did this happen?

  • Maybe you didn't make a good connection between the two posts with the screwdriver. That's the only thing that I can think of.

  • i enjoy your video's there dr. I just got back from 2 yrs HVAC work in Iraq (HVAC guys are the most loved- and hated guys there) You need any video,s on repairing rocket damage?

  • Dude, I so admire you. If I were a single guy I'd try to get a HVAC job over there to help them get some cooling during the hot months. Are you in the military?

  • lol- no, sorry. just one of the dispised contractors- a doubley dispised KBR contractor to be honest. but the mortors or snipers dont care if yer military or not- If you wanna see my camp check out g-6 camp echo mortor attack here on you tube- man we had ALOTA work that next day!!!!!! coulda used some help--- keep up the vids doc I enjoy em.

  • I did a search for the video. There seem to be lots of "camp echo mortor attack" videos. I couldn't find any at all with "g-6". Could you please private message me the link to the exact one?

  • good vid the run cap lol

  • Thanks. I thought you'd enjoy the run cap.

  • Lol! that run cap is nasty!

Good demo on the fan blade though, the Pitch angle also has a big impact on motor horsepower too, too steep, on a small motor and the motor will overload!

  • This blade is for 1 horse motors.

  • Hey Dr Z. Not trying to be an ass. But you did not ex plane how to get the pitch. BUT THANKS FOR ALL YOU DO.. Great job..

  • Sorry, I didn't explain that you have to use a pitch gauge. I didn't have one on my truck so I didn't bother to go into it.

  • I think you are doing a good service for the average person. the people that are complaning about losing work are not that good to begin with. I have been doing this for 21 yrs and have never been out of work. learn all you can about all parts of the trade ie ductwork, service, and install and you will never be out of work. I have even move on to chilled water and am i charge of a chiller plant. so i watch because you can always learn some thing.

  • Thanks. I've been trying to make my videos more aimed for the tech and the student of the trade. That's why you'll see more commercial air conditioning systems in my videos.

  • nice run cap installation there...i wonder why the unit wasnt working properly

  • It makes one wonder. lol
