  • OMG, it's Munchkin Quest! ! ! LoL

  • Bring back Heroscape!!!

  • i only just realized i am missing a ghoul from my game!?

  • Comment removed

  • These games make me miss Heroquest.

For someone who works for WotC he sure says figures in a weird way. "Fig-Yers"

  • I wanna be his kid if he gives them $1000!

  • Played this last night with a group of friends. We had a good time, it was hard and easy sometimes. We really enjoyed it.

  • Yeah...about the 2h axe....notice that its restings on the base. So it wouldn't be that hard....imaging holding a sledgehammer like that....not hard.

I knew dnd used a d20 after hearing about twice. Not to hard to remember. Imagination not to hard to use either with eye open either :) I haven't played dnd yet but i hope to soon.... just got books

  • I think wotc selling the paints they used for their pre-painted minis would be a good idea.

that way if you want to paint the minis so they look better for use with 4e, 3e, etc you could do so. I would personally re-paint them.

I hope they do more of these types of things so you can get alot of minis without the random element. :)

  • when will they make a Ravenloft PC game again?

  • Mike seems like a nice person :)

  • I have the game, its a lot of fun but i really don't; like 4th ed. Oh well.

  • Thats funny he has gray hair you dont see that much in gaming. Product seems pretty cool.

  • Wow, this is all soooo shiny, and colourful, and looks like jolly good fun!... yeah, right. Way to kill the atmosphere of Ravenloft, WotC. You're seemingly doing your best to persuade me to buy even more White Wolf products.

  • We played two games on Saturday night. What fun! A fun game

  • @jonanjello what's best for a start-up group (green DM and never-before-played players) - getting started with D&D or getting this box to familiarize ourselves with the mechanics?

  • @rhadiel

Well, it's definitely two different experiences. If you want straight D&D, well that role-playing. Ravenloft the board game is nowhere near a role-playing experience, although you could make your plastic miniatures speak, I suppose.

  • 5:22 .

    >TWO-HANDED AXE.

    >HOLDING AXE WITH ONE HAND.

    5:48 .

I THOUGHT IT WAS A 12 SIDED DICE.

SOMETHING I DONT GET ABOUT TRADITIONAL DUNGEONS AND DRAGONS... YOU USE YOUR IMAGINATION? WHY NOT JUST HAVE EVERYONE CLOSE THEIR EYES AND TALK AS THEIR CHARACTER WHILE THE DUNGEON MASTER SETS EVERYTHING UP? GOTTA LOOK AT THAT LIST EH? LOLL.

  • @ZEROEVILDARKCOOL First of all, the way you write is annoying, grow up. For the two-handed axe, the guy is not in combat, he has the strengh to carry a 2 handed weapon with one hand when not in combat. For the dice, i'm just thinking you are an idiot, because this is a 20 sided dice and that's what we need to fight monsters.

  • I might buy this just for the components themselves, and then use them for the AD&D2E version of Ravenloft. Wizards makes some good minis and board tiles, and I hope they start using the 'jigsaw' board pieces for the rest of their dungeon tile sets from now on. Definitely high quality stuff. Though I think that the color coding is a bit horrid.

Some of them can't be identified due to the 'coloration' of their pieces, such as the burning skeletons.

  • Mike Mearls Looks a bit like a clean shaven Santa Claus!

  • It´s a shame that this is already sold out in Germany. But nonetheless, the rules are easy to understand and it seems to be a great coop-dungeoncrawl-experience. As well I find it interesting, that there is an XP-system during the scenarios. After we played a lot of disapointing rounds of DESCENT (DOOM was so much better), this could be the next great dungeoncrawl-experience with a lot of replay value.

Hopefully, the reprint will be available soon.

  • I'm looking to get into D&D and this looks really cool.

  • a must have for me! thats for sure

  • Looks like a nice, if overpriced way to introduce people to the concept of role-playing games. (Like Hero Quest, but with a premium price tag.) Maybe OK as a stand-alone product, if viewed as a regular board game, not an RPG.

Fourth Edition is still terrible, though.

  • @the7ofswords its a bit on the high side yes, but i think with all the quality that Wizards put into it...ill still buy it!

  • I want those dungeon tiles.

  • I really want to play but no one around me plays D&D or any other rpg/boardgames....

  • Oh god.

    I need this game.

  • I am really loving this game. Perfect for the 40 yr. old school player with little time for games.

  • Soon to buy it! :-)

  • just played the first game, it is great.

  • Got it. Love it.

  • I cant wait for this game. It will be a good filler until someone plays a real D&D game. good for people who have no idea what D&D is like. It may not be a complete 100% copy of Ravenloft, but its good enough.

  • Must admit I felt the lack of a Stradh miniature is an oversight. And the Dragonborn whatever just screamed Ravenloft gothic horror to me :)

  • @stuartkerrigan Hahah, yeah. I think they missed the mark on what makes Ravenloft, well Ravenloft.

    Dragonborn. . . really? /facepalm

  • @stuartkerrigan The `Vampire' mini is, in fact, one of the previously-produced Stradh miniatures (there are a few).

  • Ambientazione fallita che cerca di riciclarsi in un gioco da tavolo... mi pare una gran cagata.

  • Another question why the miniatures are shiny and transparent, arent they supposed to be painted, is that transparent stuff easy to paint? It looks like we are all bitching up here but thats what the commentaries are for, for suggestions.

  • get this on a gamestore shelf already. If the deadline bumps again likely I'll be buying something else.

  • Dragonborn is a lame race.

  • hahah Classic @3:12 the kobold's spear is bent. Nicely done guys.

  • So basically we are looking at a diluted, overpriced Hero Quest. Pass.

  • Good try, but why they dont do this kind of packages for us DnD players, like a package with unpainted miniatures, not booster packs, but a pack that has half all of the Monster manual, well, a geek can dream..........

  • @bloodawn5 Yeah, I'd gladly give WotC a healthy sum of monies for something like an "Orc Raiding Party" set or something similar. Or maybe just make sets of minis that go with specific modules.

  • @papaskittels Anyway that shit is bend, Couldnt at least they pretend that the miniatures were made from "Awesomenonbendable" plastic, they want us to buy this game, and the first thing you see is the bended spear haha

  • @larlar752000 it's a board game

  • That spear has erectile problems

  • how cool would it be is if next year they do another ravenloft game based on gryphon manor?

  • What's up with the delay? I was expecting this on the 17th. MAD FACE

  • @plastermarks Why the 17th? The release date is the August 31st.

  • @willquestion Because the release date WAS the 17th. The official site had it listed as the 17th and didn't change that until a few days ago.

I'm just disappointed because I'm super excited to play this game. Can't wait.

  • I think it looks really good. I love the expansion ideas WOTC has been experimenting with to increase product name. I don't think "every" mini should " always" be painted. I allow for differences as long as the game itself is fun. I have an old Dragonlance board game and I still like the old-school look. I LOVE the interlocking map pieces ! ! ! Good Work Mike and the team !

  • They skimped out on miniatures IMO, at least color them if you are going to charge this much for a board game.

  • @ftrain65: I'm not sure it's that out of line...a big, deluxe boardgame like Twilight Imperium 3rd Edition retails at $65.99, and they seem roughly comparable.

  • @einhorn303 Those minis are horrible looking. There is no reason to color coordinate, just another way for hasbro to lower quality.

  • I'm a touched surprised that for an official unboxing video they didn't ensure that the minis were unbent.

  • I'm glad they finally created a figure just for my character: Azurak the (Blue) Dragonborn Fighter with an Execution Axe.

Some of the larger Minis look good but the bent Kobolds and the transparent blue "Blazing Skeletons" are terrible.

UK Price will ultimately decide if I buy this.

  • Played this at GenCon, and it's a ton of fun! I actually think this would be a fantastic way to introduce people to RPGs, as the rules are a nicely simplified version of the D&D 4e rules set. It's very easy to play, and requires teamwork if the group is to succeed. You can just play it as a straight-up board game, or do some role-play with your characters to liven it up a bit.

  • Very nice video. I'm thinking of introducing new players using this product so they can jump right in. I'm definitely loving the locking battle tiles. Hopefully you guys keep making these.
