"Too much dialogue" can not be used as a flaw in the franchise, its part of its essence. If you don't want that then just go play one of the many thousand of repetitive shooting titles that flood the market to exaustion.
I do have to admit that interrupting the gameplay with so much dialogue pisses me off though. And when you consider how short the games are it means the gameplay doesn't really get that fleshed out, at least in the actual main games.
The first hour of MGS3 has about ten minutes of playing.
Still, pretty much every conversation is important and great.

I guess one can always wait for them to get cheaper and then buy it. If I were to buy a crappy expensive game I'd be all "this game sucks sucks sucks!" but if I were to buy that same game way cheap I'd most likely be all "it was kinda fun, at that price it was worth it".

@zeldafreak701 He's not he's always talking to fans, he visit the USA military while making Metal Gear Solid 3 and 4. He also invites a lot of game designers to dinner. Kojima has been through a lot so he knows how people would feel if he was a jerk to them. This is someone who respects people for who they are not what country there from or what race they are.
Metal Gear Solid 4 was a compilation of everything the series was known for. The stealth mechanics from previous games were included within this installment. That is the reason why many were pleased with it.

MGS4's story was full of cop-outs, Hideo pulling stuff out of his ass, ruining character's previous characterizations (Raiden, Otacon, Naomi). It was just ridiculous. For example, there was absolutely NO clues or foreshadowing for Ocelot's "real" agenda; it didn't even make sense from what we've seen of him. How is that good storytelling? The magic arm in MGS2 was pushing it, but c'mon.

And it wasen't a magic arm it was just Liquid's arm it was the namomachines that were making Ocelot talk and act like Liquid. As for his real mission it was quite clear that he was gonna make his own Outer Heaven and kill everyone there was no need to explain it only a dumb person couldn't figure it out.

The arm was his idea: he used psychotherapy and other psychological therapeutic to learn how to act as Liquid Snake. He purposefully faked to be Liquid Snake. So unlike what some ppl think, he wasn't controlled by the arm... in fact the arm had no powers: it was all a disguise to confuse the Partiots and eventually bring them down. Ocelot was always himself, from beginning to end.
@warmslurm I think you missed big chunks of the MGS4 storyline...I'm not insulting you. I say this because you said there was no foreshadowing of Ocelot's mission and stuff...but in fact what he accomplished in the events of MGS4 is the culmination of the whole Metal Gear saga. I'd suggest you I'd play all of them again lol...that's what I will do soon :)

There were NO clues of Ocelot's real agenda in either MGS1/2/3, and if you say there are, you're lying (I know, I've played the first three a bunch of times because they're actually good games). It was a dumb, last second decision that Hideo (badly) pulled out of his ass. Any good writer knows how to foreshadow, or at least not make it come completely out of left field.

No I don't have a problem with the cut-scenes or the explanatory scenes, I'm just mentioning those who can't sit through those same clips for five minutes and tmiss out on the plot due to their shrunken attention span.
Metal Gear games are really the most memorable series there is, I played MGS1 and MGS2 years ago, and I remember everything unlike the other games I played then.
I watched the cutscenes dozens of times and I think that is the best part of the series, that it is movie like experince, not just shoot and quit game without any remarkable plot.
(In Sons Of Liberty the Metal Gear waking up in the ship was the best cutscene I've ever seen to date)

Hideo, is the best game designer and best writer ever for games. I'm sure he could write good manga's too if he wanted to but games are by far more exciting to write about. I cant wait till he makes a new game series it will be great i'm sure, he should of did Resident Evil, than the games would have better story lines.
Shigeru Myiamoto is, by far and very away, the greatest and most influent game designer of all time, but Kojima is great too! He just can't compete with Mya. To prevent it from becoming an ordinary discussion, lets just remember Miyamoto created the best 2D and 3D games of all time... yes, the greatest exponent from both those worlds... Super Mario and Zelda Ocarina of time (still ranked as the single greatest videogame since it's release, 11 years ago...). :) I still love Metal gear though.
[SPOILERS!!!]Metal Gear owns. Hideo should be a movie director, remeber when snake is in the oven thing with the sad music playing and you can see everyone else on one side on the screen getting owned. Also its soo cool at the end when they shut down JW and the Metal Gear just drops!!

Hideo Kojima and Shigeru Miyamoto are my idols and have been for ages. Truly amazing people and it's unfortunate they are unrecognized for a lot of their work. It's nice that Icons did a whole show on him, too bad the show isn't on anymore though :(

fallout 3 is a great game, but it doesnt own mgs, first of all they both are differnt type of games. altho i think fallout 3 and mgs are one of the best games there are right now, i think mgs surpassed fallout 3 for the amazing story it tells, thats just me of course

Certainly there's hype and expectation.
I guess being a MGS fan you have to accept that they are unlike just about any other game, and they are great experiences in their own way.
If you don't get it, you don't get it, I'm a tremendous fan so I get it.
I don't know if any other media form would be able to pull off the entire storyline the same way, but MGS2 made a pretty good book.
I love all the extra gameplay in MGS2 substance.

No I don't have a problem with the cut-scenes or the explanatory scenes, I'm just mentioning those who can't sit through those same clips for five minutes and tmiss out on the plot due to their shrunken attention span.

Metal Gear games are really the most memorable series there is, I played MGS1 and MGS2 years ago, and I remember everything unlike the other games I played then.
I watched the cutscenes dozens of times and I think that is the best part of the series, that it is movie like experince, not just shoot and quit game without any remarkable plot.
(In Sons Of Liberty the Metal Gear waking up in the ship was the best cutscene I've ever seen to date)

Hideo, is the best game designer and best writer ever for games. I'm sure he could write good manga's too if he wanted to but games are by far more exciting to write about. I cant wait till he makes a new game series it will be great i'm sure, he should of did Resident Evil, than the games would have better story lines.

Shigeru Myiamoto is, by far and very away, the greatest and most influent game designer of all time, but Kojima is great too! He just can't compete with Mya. To prevent it from becoming an ordinary discussion, lets just remember Miyamoto created the best 2D and 3D games of all time... yes, the greatest exponent from both those worlds... Super Mario and Zelda Ocarina of time (still ranked as the single greatest videogame since it's release, 11 years ago...). :) I still love Metal gear though.

[SPOILERS!!!]Metal Gear owns. Hideo should be a movie director, remeber when snake is in the oven thing with the sad music playing and you can see everyone else on one side on the screen getting owned. Also its soo cool at the end when they shut down JW and the Metal Gear just drops!!

Hideo Kojima and Shigeru Miyamoto are my idols and have been for ages. Truly amazing people and it's unfortunate they are unrecognized for a lot of their work. It's nice that Icons did a whole show on him, too bad the show isn't on anymore though :(

fallout 3 is a great game, but it doesnt own mgs, first of all they both are differnt type of games. altho i think fallout 3 and mgs are one of the best games there are right now, i think mgs surpassed fallout 3 for the amazing story it tells, thats just me of course
