Easily one of the best shows ever, not just sci-fi but of all tv shows, it had everything, politics, religion, it highlighted human frailty, aggresion and often our own stupidity. The fact that the series depicted a war between two groups who both believed in a ''supreme being'' but were locked in fighting for their own viewpoint over the details of God(s) was genius and a reflection of what's happening here right now - amazing show :)
Without Star Wars, this whole genre wouldn't exist. it's to this show's credit that it could take the infuences of decades of SF, the zeitgeist of its socio-political context and the legacy of much-loved telly and craft something truly brilliant. So say we all.
Of course... as we all know George Lucas invented space, planets, stars, spaceships, fleets, the military, and goddamn everything else, despite what all the mountains of evidence would suggest.
So much crazy talk about this amazing tv show being reimagined! I have no interest in watching a direct do-over of a previous show. Same with Superman Returns and Star Wars. Some people hated it and wanted it to be just like the older versions. Been there, done that! Time to modernize your minds people. BSG is the single greatest show ever put on television and you know it! Do fight it. And listen to all of the commentaries. They make the show even better!...

I suppose there has to be a naysayer somewhere, so it might as well be me. Too bad they had to waste all these good visuals on this terrible remake. Or "re-imagining." They should have just brought the original (1978) up to date. This series didn't do it.
I agree it seem's to have started out good but went down hill fast. the series dose have it's place in T.V. just not in fashion of the original series....this series place lies in the lines of
theres more fighting and dram in the fleet then with the cylon's.

The old version states that the Cylons wiped out humanity because they were jeaous of Colonials way of life and that they were different. A great way to explain it to a simpleton and a great way to give simpathise to warmonging right wing elemts who just want to bomb the world for no reason.

Sure i can see people bickering and having there little fights but the military and civilian government getting pissy with one another is a grate way to get killed. Its interlectual storyline matches that of Blade Runner when talking about the relationship between Man and Machine And the space battle is far more intense than the Battle of Endor and realistic

I disagree with you. Maybe the story as a whole might be a little better but episoide to episode bsg was kinda boring. It had no drama it in it and all there was is talking the entire time. Don't call the talking drama because its not. It did not invoke emotions in me. In the 3rd stars wars movie when the jedis were betrayed now that left me with an unsettling feeling. The last ep did the same but the entire series felt like my mothers soap opera. Which is not good television for guys.
and atleast people died and had the risk of dyeing where as star wars none of the gd guys die unless they want to and even then they can come back to say hi

You probably weren't there in 1978. But, you're right, a lot of it was crap. The stories sucked. We knew it was lifted from Star Wars, but that was the idea. People wanted more Star Wars. That's why many paid to see it many many times in theaters. There was no VHS or DVD we could buy. There was HBO, but SW didn't come to pay TV until the early 80s. BSG tried to fill the appetite for Star Wars type action. It was done hastily. But for the time, it was hi-tech, which was unheard of on TV in 78.

At $1 mil an episode, we thought the fx were super for '78! Many of us who were, at the time, hungry for sci fi on TV saw the potential of BSG, even though the writing sucked. Better writing would have really helped. However, the SciFi channel version was NOT (my opinion) an improvement. Too dark. Too R rated. Not family-friendly like the original. But, I guess that doesn't matter anymore. Blood, gore and boobs make TV shows popular these days. New BSG is more popular than old, but I don't care.
Out all combat scenes from the series...Resurrection Ship was the best. 2 Battlestars taking on Basestars, the view from Lee's position seeing the fight as well...awesome.
This theme is embedded in the BSG matrix of its mythos. It couldn't be surgically removed ! The re - imagined series opening score is great, but THIS is - Well, I already said it !!
This is a great video. Great music, great editing. A very nice job and I play it a lot. Just a comment about the new show: It's a good concept to have unknown Cylons among the survivors and it has given us some gripping episodes. The only downside is when they run a string of courtroom battles on board ship. That's when my eyes glaze over and they lose me.

battousai, the M1 Abrams does not have reactive armor. The armor of an Abrams is known as Chobham. Now there is the Tank Urban Survival Kit, TUSK, that can be added to the Abrams.

I think the new series has a pretty deep soundtrack. The original theme worked well with the classic's premise, but the reimagined series doesn't match well to the relatively upbeat music in my eyes.
just occured to me that probably the closest thing in history in real life to the galactica and its immigrant fleet trying to run and survive from their enemies that are trying to wipe them out is the history of the Jewish people if they had space ships too Im sure wed enjoy watching a tv show of them hehe nice video hammillermn pure class.
The history of the Jewish people to my understanding theyve been driven from where ever theyve been many times and had to survive isn't it basically the same thing on galactica ? that whole survival spirit thing wasn't insulting the Jewish culture or anything i find theirs an admirable history and i like galactica for that same reason great survivors
lol yeah they do indeed if they didn't don't think id watch much my only issue with this show is i could do with a bit more fighting especially ground based and a bit less social fights amongst everyone considering their crisis i think some of them have sooks a bit too much lol.

Editing wasn't the greatest use of the clips. Transitions would have been useuful for the first section of the music up until the main theme breaks out, where fast cuts, explosions, and patriotic looking footage would have made it much more moving.
Right now it's just music with video put next to it, without any connection or timing between them.

No, no shields. Colonial Battlestars just have exceptional armor compared to the Cylons. It was the same way in the original series.

just occured to me that probably the closest thing in history in real life to the galactica and its immigrant fleet trying to run and survive from their enemies that are trying to wipe them out is the history of the Jewish people if they had space ships too Im sure wed enjoy watching a tv show of them hehe nice video hammillermn pure class.

The history of the Jewish people to my understanding theyve been driven from where ever theyve been many times and had to survive isn't it basically the same thing on galactica ? that whole survival spirit thing wasn't insulting the Jewish culture or anything i find theirs an admirable history and i like galactica for that same reason great survivors

lol yeah they do indeed if they didn't don't think id watch much my only issue with this show is i could do with a bit more fighting especially ground based and a bit less social fights amongst everyone considering their crisis i think some of them have sooks a bit too much lol.

Editing wasn't the greatest use of the clips. Transitions would have been useuful for the first section of the music up until the main theme breaks out, where fast cuts, explosions, and patriotic looking footage would have made it much more moving.
Right now it's just music with video put next to it, without any connection or timing between them.
