Pushing Daisies was really cute, but cheesy. only two seasons. Dead Like Me was pretty good too, i have no idea why, but it was sort of addicting. regularly i watch The Office [although it's not as funny as it used to be] and Gossip Girl [the drama is ridiculous]
This is great!! Happy New Year and all good wishes to you too. My favourite TV Show is a new one actually that was released last year called Sherlock! It's so epically amazing. Even if there is only 3 episodes in the first series, I was blown away by how real the writers have made the plot lines, the characters, sets etc and how closely they have stuck to the original Conan Doyle stories whilst adding a new spin to them to create a thoroughly modern, awesome new adaptation.
As for your question, my favourite show is kinda a tie. My favourite Brit show has gotta be "Primeval" (and I'm soooooo glad it's finally back from hiatus!) and, well, I'm Canadian so I'm gonna pick "Lost Girl" as my fav instead of an American show -- hope that's okay? ...... Can you tell I'm a fantasy/sci-fi fan? lol
Good to see you home, hope you've had a great Christmas and New Year. Things to watch are Misfits, Fringe (I haven't seen it yet), 30 Rock, Ugly Betty, Desperate Housewives... the list goes on :) x
My LEAST favourite is 90210, even though I always seem to flick onto it! The love stories aren't even captivating or romantic, there was one scene with a guy and girl sat in a football stadium all alone talking about the girl's grandparents dying and then straight after he said he reaaally really wanted to kiss her... there was no romance up until then, where did that come from?! Oh yes, his willyyyy!
@IziiBee i love misfits, its like heroes would have been if it accepted that most people would have fairly shit powers, and just use them pretty well(eg milk guy).
besides, any show that can come up with "monkeyslut" as a password is genius!
Not a soap fan but I loved LOST when it was on. But I love me some Doctor Who and The Tudors on Showtime. American sitcoms can be quite good from time to time as well. Like How I Met Your Mother or Big Bang Theory. I think you'd like Big Bang Theory, it makes a lot of references that we nerds enjoy.
also, i went to a coffee shop recently with someone and it was ok, but then we finished our stuff, and i was thinking umm okay now we have nothing and are still sitting here, are we allowed to still be sitting here, would it be rude to suggest we leave or somthing why are we still here
I do the same thing, getting distracted by stuff that doesn't matter to the plot and whatever. Like the other day on an ep of Star Trek TNG there was a rift in subspace and it made this gigantic beautiful swirly purple hole right next to the Enterprise and they go to Ten Forward to talk about whatever and there are all these people in there, int he background, just talking, having romantic suppers or whatever, and there through the giant glass was the rift. LOOK OUT THE FREAKING WINDOW WHAT!
I get really annoyed when people don't eat the food that they just ordered too! Especially when they order something don't eat any of it and then leave.
Of course I had a wonderful Christmas. Don't you remember that time spent together at the Christmas market?! Did those glasses of mulled wine mean NOTHING to you!?
Gavin and Stacey! It does just that, it's very realistic and does the day to day things (half an episode if filled up with ordering a Chinese). But most importantly it's HILARIOUS :')
Also, I'm in love with your editing-style. If you could tell it I'm a great guy or an astronaut or something, ask if it'd be interested, that'd be awesome.
I'm mainly coping with the combined Dexter/Doctor Who (ironic...) addiction right now, but as a guilty pleasure I'll hit up Castle once in a while. I'm gonna put in another vote for Firefly, btw, as well as Arrested Development, which might be a comedic form of what you're looking for, and which is one of the best shows I've ever seen.
Watched 24 series 7 with parents in only two days and i loved it :P Don't normally like watching soaps and tv series because they take up so much time.
You might like Tenko- its an early 80's World War II series about women in a Japanese prison, and its slightly soap, slightly stagey and theatrical, it's got elements of female cattiness, includes eating and body function material to give it that realistic feel, but also has period details and intelligent writing.
My other favourite shows are Doctor Who, Dawson's Creek, Buffy, Captain Scarlet, Odyssey 5, Dirty Pair(anime), Evangelion(anime)
This is England 86 was also good but kinda upsetting.

I'm kind of like that with movies, in that if the slutty girl and the slutty boy get together, what the hell do they talk about? They have no personality between them and can't spend every minute of the day having sex, so what conversations happen in between?
As for my favourite show, it's either Doctor Who or Daria.
I don't have one particular favourite program but the ones I do love are Doctor Who, Sherlock Holmes, Misfits, Supernatural and Primeval. My taste basically revolve around British TV.
Urrmmm... Doctor Who, but although that's British and not American, they don't deal with normal stuff like going to the bathroom. Admittedly, they do sometimes eat...
My favorite shows seem to be ones that are off the air now. Absolutely LOVE Arrested Development (American) and Monk (American), but I just started to watch Spaced (British) and I really like it :).
If you think American shows are missing out on the day to day things, try Japanese dramas D8 they're literally 10 episodes long or less LOL. My favorite shows would have to be Merlin (BBC) House MD, Supernatural (both American) then there's Zeni Geba, Nagareboshi and Buzzer Beat (Japanese) If a show is unrealistic and cliche, i wouldn't watch it XD and no, i don't love you D: AWKWARD XD
Have you tried Firefly? It's one of my all time favorite shows and I think it's one of the best things that's ever been on TV. One of the many reasons I love it is that it balances reality and entertainment value. It's really funny and it's got amazing, dramatic story lines, but it's also kinda gritty. The characters eat, sleep, pee, get sick and encounter practical problems that are woven right in with the more traditionally compelling parts of the show.
Yes! I agree, why don't television characters ever lay in bed all day and watch bones just and eat chocolate just because they have nothing else to do? They're only lazy when something is wrong! That's not real life, I'm lazy all the time!
I'm not really bothered that tv-series that lack the "realistic" parts, Like going to the loo or what ever.. But that dose bother me in books. I "love" how some of the most epic tales have characters that you follow for years yet not once have they expressed the discomfort of really needing to go to the loo or brushing their teeth.. Oh and favourite series.. From american television probably Fringe. From British tv it HAS to be Merlin, from asia I like Mary Stayed Out All Night (Korean)
I've been an anti-soap person all my life, but then I started watching coronation street because of the lesbian story line and it has really helped me understand my own situation better and given me the courage to admit to people around me that Im gay too. so that's been a plus for soaps. Other than that Veronica Mars was the most amazing and overlooke TV show, I miss it =( P.s Your videos are amazing!
HAH. Random nerd moment, but in the books that trueblood was based on, "The Sookie Stackhouse novels", Sookie consistently had problems with her menstrual cycle. Well... maybe not consistently, but it was TOTALLY a factor.
I used to watch Eastenders, then I noticed that the story lines went on for months and months and everyone was depressed and angry 24/7. then started watching Hollyoaks which was slightly more cheery and they actually got on with things and sorted problems quickly. But stopped watching that too cos i didn't have time lol. Now i'm all for Desperate Housewives, 90210 etc. (and Friends obviously). :)
And I wish we had Doctor Who in Germany. Seriously, I can't stand the german soaps. The bad music in the five rooms they play in is killing me. American TV shows all the way. :)
Funny you said American shows have 'great storylines' etc. cuz I actually find British ones more entertaining. Mostly cause they are more reliable - you expect solid quality work and usually you're not disappointed (depends what you watch). Am. shows are mostly annoyingly predictable and uneven.
I love the everyday of British shows, it gives them more credibility.
I absolutely love Doctor Who, Misfits, Skins (seasons 1,2). Among American ones Sons of Anarchy and Supernatural are my picks.
EastEnders - Ronnie just swapped her dead baby for a living one...
I'm not sure our soaps are that realistic.
Although, if you watch EastEnders, you might disagree. But if you've been listening to the radio and watching the news, you can see all the controversy that EastEnders has caused.
i like youtube better than tv. i think people here are more realistic and more fun to watch than the people on tv :) but i like funny shows like friends, the office, mr. bean( yeah mr. bean he's the best!) etc.
My mother had me watch Desperate Housewives with her the other night. After one of the wives cheated on her husband with another guy who broke up with her because he was actually in love with her neighbor who had the wife's husband's baby, I left the room... never to watch the TV show again.
The Wire. I think it might be what you're looking for. The greatest plot lines and drama I've ever seen, but it's certainly not clean and easy and it's full of little quirks that make the characters seem like actual people. I really would encourage you and anyone else to watch it, or just to search reviews of it on Google. Best money I ever spent on some TV DVDs without a doubt.
I agree with you Laura!!! Haha, do you watch True Blood? That one is my favorite XD I do love how there's supercool people like Bill and Sookie mixed in with the amazingly normal townspeople like Mrs. Fortenberry and Andy Bellefleur
I really really enjoy watching Supernatural. It's about two totally hot brothers and they hunt for the supernatural! :D Most people I know say it's scary, but I don't think it's scary at all!
But other favourites are Doctor Who, Bones, Sherlock, Medium, Fringe and Glee. Oh, and the Big Bang Theory. ♥
house and the new doctor who (I've only seen a small part of the old series but they seem to old school for me) i also adored Kyle XY but they fraking canceled it :/
Well, it's weird. I generelly like American TV more.. but I think I'm going to like Misfits more than Heroes (eventhough I liked the first season of Heroes).
I don't understand why characters order food and drink, get a phonecall, and then leave! I'm like, 'You paid for that!' - American TV is better, with the exception of a few BBC comedies of course.

YES! When they don't eat, never need the loo and never get a cold. Or sneeze. Driving without looking at the road is by far the most frustrating!

EastEnders - Ronnie just swapped her dead baby for a living one...
I'm not sure our soaps are that realistic.
Although, if you watch EastEnders, you might disagree. But if you've been listening to the radio and watching the news, you can see all the controversy that EastEnders has caused.
It's crazy.

i like youtube better than tv. i think people here are more realistic and more fun to watch than the people on tv :) but i like funny shows like friends, the office, mr. bean( yeah mr. bean he's the best!) etc.

My mother had me watch Desperate Housewives with her the other night. After one of the wives cheated on her husband with another guy who broke up with her because he was actually in love with her neighbor who had the wife's husband's baby, I left the room... never to watch the TV show again.
I love Dexter. That's by far the best show.

Favourite show is either Sherlock or Doctor Who.

Awesome video! The bit about soaps was completely true, they do get a bit repetitive. Happy new year!
vortexguyz934 1 year ago
I don't understand why characters order food and drink, get a phonecall, and then leave! I'm like, 'You paid for that!' - American TV is better, with the exception of a few BBC comedies of course.

I love american shows, they're so much better, and (this may sound weird) more 'colourful'? Lol.
But that's just my opinion :P
Happy new year! :D

This will be such a typical response but... my favourite TV programmes are Doctor Who and Outnumbered joint.

Haha the soaps at the minute are terrible. We need a good 'richard hillman' storyline again. That was awesome haha.
On a side note, I love a good BBC comedy like Outnumbered or a classic like Fawlty Towers :D
