The defence now in NBA is not as tough as in Jordan's era. The defender is not allowed to tauch the offender. But honestly, i can compare durant to one player in the league at the moment and that is dirk nowitzki. They are both tall guys who can shoot mid range and longe range and occasionally drive to the basket to get fouls. LOL only difference is that durant is 21 and led the NBA in most points per game in the regular season.
Don't hate me guys. Im just giving my opinion. I just keep thinking of dirk when i think of durants style. Both are great shooters.

barkley, malone,drexler were not good competitors? But howard and carmelo are? Come one friend i am over 30 years and I watch them all playing. Did you ever watch a prime Jordan, a prime barkley, a prime malone?
Jordan even when he was 40 years old he still managed to score more than 40 points. And in many games he had more than 20. If the defence was hard as in 90's he would not managed to score even 10 points. I have seen them all and kobe although now is the best player he is not Jordan

@nyse219 It does not matter if in ONE game (not important game and no hard defence) kobe scores 81 points. Jordan constantly scored 40+ in finals and all important games. You cannot judge a player from one match. Robinson had a carrer high of 71 points. However there were better centers than him (hakeem)
And to say that howard is hard competition reveals you have never seen hakeem ,ewing, robinson) and the other centers of his era. Howard is nothing compare to them.

The defence now in NBA is not as tough as in Jordan's era. The defender is not allowed to tauch the offender. Inside the paint the defenders cannot stay for long they have to move outside so it is much easier nowadays to get into the rim and dunk. I saw the 81 points of Bryant but the defence was a joke and only in one game it does not prove anything to score 81 points. I saw bryant against hard defences and he was facing problems. And I have seen Jordan against hard defences (New york, Pistons)

heas not flashy at all. man hes a skinnyn tall dude that can play ball but he has no class no demand no leadership... hesa foloower but he lets his game do the talk... hes no where near dwade or lebron in terms of leadership.. but hes close in skills... but skills dont win anything... durant is not going to be mvp... becuase he wont... durant will neevr win a championship either... hes just a young kid playing ball... while lerbon wade and bryant live basketball... thats all they do

Follower eh? There are people that lead by example. Durant is the first to attend practice, also last to leave. Shows maturity beyond his age,and shows determination on the court and is a leader in that aspect. He sets the tone on and off the court. He's EFFICIENT. Who cares if he's flashy if he constantly put up 30 point games last season? You must be joking. He was MVP runner up last year and he's just 22. plenty more years. He will win an MVP title but not sure about a ring.

People compare Lebron, Kobe, D-wade to Michael Jordan, but Kevin Durant cannot be compared to anyone, there is no need, he is an evolutionary player. Never before have we seen a 6-9, 230 lb athletic player who can play inside, outside and has unlimited range, in his third nba season won the scoring title and lead the team USA to win gold. Down the track Durant will win nba championships, mvp and scoring titles, and by the end of the career he may be known as the best player to ever play the game

It makes me feel smart when i saw KD as a freshman at Texas and said WOW this kid is meant for greatness, and living in Dallas i decided to always support KD and here he is now accomplishing great things as a person and a player.

guys I am from europe and I love NBA. Don;t get me wrong but after Jordan Era )with barkley,malone etc) there haven't been really great great players. Le bron and bryant were very good ,but not at the same level as the previous ones. For example Le bron does not have an impressive mid range jumper, while bryant keeps shooting form 7 metres 3-pointers with an efficiency of 3/12 FG. they are very impressive as players but not as efficient. However Durant IS the GREAT PLAYER

He was hitting 3's in practice 2 weeks ago from 15 feet behind the 3 pt line like he was shooting freethrows.... and he LOVES the game. There will never be another Jordan, but this is the Durant era

@ofis79 yah also u gotta think kobe doesnt have a great efficiency but the shots he does make are the biggest shots for the games which is why he is a great player. he is a player you know will do something crazy when the last few minutes of the game. jordan also had that. jordan also wasnt always efficient all through out his career. i remember wanting jordan not shoot the ball and rather have someone else shoot. it was like that for me for the 2010 finals with kobe

a bit too early to make this statement. Jordan earned his reputation over a life time course and so did other great one you listed. Great one sometimes is not defined by all aspect of greatness. Some players are born for particular task and as long as they fulfill with an outstanding result, they are great.
Kevin is good now, but i wouldn't consider him as Great. He has a lot to prove, just like Lebron, still need a lot to prove.

@ofis79 I agree with on the fact that the Jordan era was one of the best, but i think now the NBA is again at its best. I epxplain: U get great mature players like Kobe, Garnett, Pierce, Allen, Dunkan still dominating and winning championships, u have the current generation (Lebron, Wade, Melo, Stoudamire, Howard,...) making huge plays and all making Championship contenstands, and you get the new generation to be VERY promising in Durant, Rose, Blake Griffin (the Beast!!!!). What more to ask? :)

@knink24 how old are you 5? Kobe isn't 26 anymore, Wade dropped 55 at the garden, Kobe isn't better on either side of the ball, and Wade is definitely more clutch. On the long range shot, I'd say Kobe has a SLIGHT edge.
