With the MiniTool partition manager wizard, it is easy for you to delete partition, copy partition ,hide partition and other operations. Some editions are FREEEEE. Any of you who need it can have a try.
@HarmFlo: I had the same problem. I had created a Temp drive and as I wasn't planning on usingit I was able to delete and this allowed me to extend the C drive as the option was no longer 'greyed out'. You can then repartion from there again if you so wished.
Well i have tried it, i shrink my c drive with 100 GB and created as volume E:, when i again shrink the C: Drive with 113 GB and try to create it as a new volume, it gives an error at the end " You cannot create a new volume in this unallocated space because the disk already contains the maximum number of partitions". Please Help me with this.
how about adding a partition to an existing drive can i do that also in disk management?what i mean is i want to transfer a free space on my C drive to my D drive.
@stalingbg just a little time,Partition manager wizard is really a good thing, MiniTool partition manager wizard is a good choice for you. It is easy to use and it is efficient. Some editions are FREEEEE. Any of you who need it can have a try.
Guys, you are making things more complicated. I got an magic, MiniTool Partition Wizard, which is not only able to resize (including increasing and shrinking) active partition and data partition, but also system partition!!! ( resize system partition is not allowed). In addition, this program is totally free for personal users. MiniTool Partition Wizard Both text and video demonstrations are included at its official website.
@TheMols14 sorry for being so late to reply your question.
i think you should first employ the "Move/Resize" function of Partition Wizard to free up an unallocated space between your C or D(probably) ( namely shrink the size of D). Then you will be able to click the EXPAND button when increasing partition C! hope this would be helpful
when i try to shrink a volume of 100 gb and i get this message ''the volume you have selected to shrink does not have a recognizable file system. shrinking this volume will erase any data...'' and i get the options yes or no help me out here :/
can fing do this i need to extend and it wont do so >,< need some help (yes i got 100gb free not in any partition at all and i need to extend the c drive)
Are they possible to just move over 240GB to the already partitioned D drive? for I have all my music and games where I do not want to take away any of the disks. Just move 240 GB of disk operating system to gaming and music disk.
so if i had two partitions one windows xp(default) and windows 7 (Added Partition) if i take some space off windows xp can i then put it on windows 7?
Hey I have windows vista on disk C and widows 7 on another drive. I want to male windows 7 bigger but I can't extend it. It doesn't let me. I could only extend vista. Can u Guys help me.
You R right, the extend partition icon is inactive, so I can not extend my partition. Can anybody help how to activate the extend partition icon and then increase the size of my C drive.
I knew this but i partitioned one hardrive to make a virtual one and want to shrink the real one and extend the "artificial" one as I wanted to create another partition to allow me to dual boot, but didn't allow enough memory... can any one help??

my hardrive is super full - i dont know why as i regulary use disk cleanup and have no unecesary files would u recomend i partion my hardrive then format ? if not what should i do?
hello boss i have problem with windows 7 partition
massage apper on screen ( you cannot creat a new volume in this unallocated space because the disk already contains the maximum number of partitions.)
@lestube001, what, partitioning is fine (except once, read on), never had a problem, I tried on purpose once on the utility in the iso when you burn Ubuntu to a disc, can't remember the partitioning name.
That screwed the HDD up.
I just use either the Vista/7 inbuilt one, or better (can't remember name, it's been a long time) some other software, older versions are free
I know I said partitioning is easy to do.
But I guess it's a matter of - "It's easy to get right, and easy to get wrong."
