  • Last Ninja was the game that got me to buy a 64, but LN2 is still my fave 64 game, all three versions look better than their converted counterparts and all three are some of the best music ever written on the sid chip.

  • very very very good!! more like this please : ) - i cant believe the amount of views this video has had it deserves way way more!

  • Nice Game! Nice video!

    ;)

  • Awwwww yeah. Outrun is next. Excellent review.

  • out run next?

  • Good review. I have never played the origonal last ninja only the remix edition in 91. Will have to grab an origonal copy for amiga or dos i think. Look forward to more arcade updates and more reviews.

Young blooded retro gamer me! Haha

  • Brilliant review! Funny that although the Amiga versions looked better, the Commodore 64 versions of all the Last Ninja games were in my opinion the best versions on any platform.

  • @stujwilson: I don't even think the Amiga version really looks better, tbh...

  • I thought your favorite game was After Burner?

  • Good video man!

  • I'm from the 70' too and still playing , so I'm part of the last gamer generation

  • The viewpoint in this game reminds me of Landstalker. Keep up the great reviews!

  • @Retroradboy Taking not rushing an episode to new levels. lol. Glad you enjoyed it. :)

  • dat graphics

  • @vintagevideogamegeek And THAT is part of the reason why we do these episodes. :)

  • @Retroradboy Yeah, I can't imagine the making of the next episode dragging out anywhere near as long as this one did.

  • @MetalJesusRocks Thanks. Editing this thing was pretty crazy and tiring.

  • @whitetiger2nv We pissed ourselves scrubbing through the raw footage. So why not include it!!!

  • Nice ninja suit! I never realized this was on so many computers. I have the NES version.

  • @imjustsaying85 AHHH Link to the past is in my Top 10. Love it so much

  • By far the best review you have ever done.. Well worth the wait. I have watched it a number oftimes and have to say its a classic! Love the bloopers at the end. Well done Joel.

  • very cool...always a treat to see a review of a game I'm not familiar with

  • @paridisegrowth Yeah, I like doing reviews on games that are not too mainstream

  • For 1987 those graphics are awesome!

  • @DoorMat444 I know and for an 8bit computer!

  • Great review from the Last Gamer! Totally rocking game, nice one Jop.

  • @PSI236 Thanks tony. Glad you enjoyed it

  • Little correction it's Amstrad CPC 464 not 64.Great review never played the first Last ninja only Last Ninja 2 but it was a great game.

  • @Honshu88 Yeah Sorry, slip of the tongue

  • Really enjoyed your overview on this classic. I think when i had the original Amstrad version back in the day, it came in a double cassette boxset with Shuriken & Ninja Mask. I'm not 100% on this but just have vague memories prancing around like a wannabe ninja, hehe!!! Great stuff man! :)

  • @MENDEZ1628 Yeah the sounds right

  • :)

  • I had this on some C64 compilation tape with no instructions. I think i got about 4 screens in, got stuck and gave up lol.

  • @RvYooK LOL. Its not the easiest game

  • Wow that's messed up System 3 took all credit for the game and didn't even mention softview.

  • @MajorDisaster4u Tell me about it!

  • Awesome

  • @PoWeRx325 Thanks man

  • Excellent video! I was born in '74 and started gaming perhaps in '79 or '80 :) Had a Hanimex Pong System, CBS Colecovision, Atari 2600, C64, Amiga 500 and 1200, then PC but stopped gaming in about '05 :( Although I still use my Amiga ;)

  • @blade004 Wow. Some classics right there. Nothing wrong with using an amiga!

  • @TheLastGamertube Sorry for the late response :( Yes, those old systems definitely are classics and yes I am glad you agree that there is nothing wrong with still using an Amiga :) Again, the video you have produced here is brilliant :)

  • Awesome game and channel!

  • @ninjastare Thanks!

  • Nice review! Loved the bloopers at the end.

  • @HelloComics Yeah, it worked well

  • Oh YEAH!!... Now your talking Last Gamer!!!!!... Some memories with this one!!

  • @blade004 :)

  • You said fucking lol

  • @dave2kxxl I know, first time for everything LOL

  • Excellent look at a sure classic! I fondly remember playing this on my c64, even though I never was very good at it. Didn't get far into the game. Always was impressed by it though, really one of those games I wish I knew how to play better back in the day! Haven't tried it in years now... might need to dust it off sometime soon to give it another go :).

  • @HalfBlindGamer You have to man, It still holds up very well. Gameplay is awesome

  • Cool

  • GREAT as always! Man, you really need to make more video's!

  • @Geondp I am trying!

  • Dude! I also started gaming in the 70s. My first console was a pong machine ;-) Although a lot of my gaming in the 80s and early 90s was pretty much on computers. I had a VIC-20, Amiga 500, Amiga 3000, and lots of PCs I put together my self :-) Now I am pretty much back to consoles.

  • @FullMoonStudio the days of the best computers. Amiga rocks!

  • i loved this game when i was a kid.

the music has stayed fresh in my head for all these years.

    great game

  • @69lover68 yeah the music is gold

  • This game looks pretty sweet; I've seen it a few times in my retro mags, but never saw much of it outside of that.

My personal favourite game (based on nostalgia) is Gargoyle's Quest on the Game Boy, which was my Xmas present some time in the early 90s when I was 5 or 6 .

    GB + Gargoyle's Quest + Mario Land + Being a little kid = Best Xmas EVER! :)

  • @Quimbyrbg Cool, I will have to give Gargoyles guest a go

  • Fantastic episode. I learned a lot. Very fun history lesson.

  • @leannaramadingdong Thanks, :)

  • i remember wanting to play this after seeing for the NES in a magazine

  • ok now the next game i know xD and i like how you added you as a ninja between certain parts slashing at the screen, it added a good touch to the review

  • @Mysticfateee thank you, and yeah out run.. that was an easy one!

  • @TheLastGamertube yeah but seeing as im a 90s kid most of the games you talk about and stuff i wouldnt really know haha, but im learning

  • Wow! I played this ages ago on C64! It's like the granddaddy of isometric games. :D

  • @Lupucillo Yeah, yet it never gets old

  • @TheLastGamertube Yup. That's the mark of a good game. You can play it in 1983 or 2023, and it will be just as fun.

  • great vid mate..boy this game drove me mad with frustration when it first came out...my fav game ever is contra 3 on the super famicom..

  • @brewt1mer Thanks, Love contra 3, timeless classic

  • Really enjoyed your overview Joel of such a great game and look forward to the Outrun one. Im 40 and have been gaming all my life since the 70s, so there is still a few others of us out there. It is rare however to meet someone else like yourself who has also been gaming since the 70s and still does so alot. All the people I know have gone on to raise familys and now only game on occassions if at all. Tried to add you on XBL ages ago, but your friends list is full, oh well lol

  • @Dakthore Thank you. I will clear some of my friends that are no longer on live.

  • @Dakthore Hey !! im 41 and still gaming! send me a friend req on xbox live!

  • You would thought a ninja would be on stealth mode all the time, but nah, there he is casually walking on the streets and parks wearing his black costume and a sword on his back with no issues at all. Attention whore maybe? Nah he is THE LAST NINJA, he can do whatever he wants :)

  • The intro of this episode is great!

  • @tunicaroja86 Thanks

  • The long awaited overview finally arrives!

I used to play this game on the C64 but i always found the combat to be really difficult (i think i was about 10 at the time) I remember the graphical style stood out as being very different and like nothing that i had seen before.Hearing you talk about the game now makes me realise that i missed out on something special. The outakes made me laugh,im always making similar mistakes when i make videos :)

  • @darrenwalshsock LOL, yeah its funny when that happens.. Had to do a bloopers

  • Nice review mate :)

  • @marioandsonic1986 thanks josh
