  • Brilliant as ever Banner keep up the good work!

  • @wotdoesthisbuttondo You're welcome. :)

  • How good was that? Sweeney! & Sweeney 2 are overlooked classics, and the soundtracks to the movies, as well as the tv series are great.

  • @bobbygray100 I know what you mean. I've got the OST to The Long Good Friday and it has lots more in the way of synthesizers than Sweeney 2 of course which was a more orchestral soundtrack and a pretty good one too.

  • Watched this at christmas and really loved the end theme tune.

  • @bluevan12 I love it too. Can remember ITV showing this in 1983 and 1988. Someone told me that on both viewings, they cut out the gory deaths of Mrs. Hicks and Frank Hill.

  • @Banner1979 This has been shown a few times on digital channels recently. The climax is limited to Regan bursting into the room at the sound of a gunshot. I don't think the "FRANK! NOOOOO!" bit was there, and the subsequent cutaways to Ken Hutchison (Hill) were definitely cut.

  • @cbak12sg I know, so that they could show the film at an earlier slot like in the afternoon or early evening as it doesn't really have much in terms of graphic scenes, although there is a fair amount of swearing such as the f-word but doubtless that has also been cut out in recent showings. I'm fortunate enough to have both Sweeney movies on DVD, uncut and without any ad breaks at all.

  • Still as brilliant a theme as ever, Rock on banner keep up the good posts!

  • @wotdoesthisbuttondo Cheers, mate!

  • This is great to revisit every so often when drunk it boosts the mood brilliantly!

  • @wotdoesthisbuttondo Better than the Sweeney! theme tune which was pretty good, but more downbeat.

  • @Banner1979

Just back from a bit of Two Tribes long version and drinking more, i didn't even think of the first theme i'm off to that now cos that's great as well (but def not as good as this) cheers and cheers for the top posts!

  • @wotdoesthisbuttondo Two Tribes long version, eh? My sister used to have it on an old C90 tape back in the '80s. Just been listening to some live Deep Purple stuff from '70 and '72. Denis King did Sweeney!'s theme tune. You're welcome. :)

  • @wotdoesthisbuttondo 10/10 YES IT DOES, Well put :)

  • such a great theme. The first films theme is on the sweeney soundtrack cd, why isn't this??

  • @2008templar This was released as an LP back in the day. The B-side was "Regan's Key" which is the music played when the receptionist dumps his key in his trousers.

  • @Banner1979 thanks for that, never knew it was released. eres hoping the release it on cd sometime soon.

  • @2008templar There's supposed to be a new Sweeney book, too, written by Pat Gilbert that ought to come out later this year. Hope it's even better than the one that came out in 2003 that was done by Kenwood and Fairclough.

  • Thanks.. Propper memories

  • @graybermann I know. The best. :) Hard to believe ITV last showed this in 1988 and it wasn't until 2001 when Channel 5 screened it.

  • Any chance of uploading the end theme tune from the first film?

  • @MOSTechnology Could do :).

  • @Banner1979 Just watched the first film on TV and was digging that end theme. Make it happen.

  • @MOSTechnology I'll take out my magic wand and see what happens ;). Don't worry, I'll do it.

  • Utterly amazing music it stomps along nicely, good post!

  • @wotdoesthisbuttondo Cheers. It's a stomping tune and is so much more upbeat than the opener.

  • This theme music is absolutely brilliant, real funky 70s disco style! Just a pitty it is so rare. The theme music from this movie was released on 45 but is rather hard to find.

  • I know. I've heard it through an mp3 link, but I'm glad I managed to upload the full theme here.

I've heard a new Sweeney film will NOT be made. Ray Winstone has too many commitments and I think they also had trouble finding other actors for the movie. Personally, I'm relieved. There was only ONE Regan & Carter.

  • Received! Yes superb track and thanks for posting this. Does anyone have the single title details please?

  • You're welcome. I'm sure I put up the opening part of this film a while ago. I'll send it to you soon when I can.

  • John Flanagan played Matt in series 1. Why didn't they just keep it Matt? as Willard/Matthews are both squad members

Willard was also McGill's mate in Day of Execution :)

  • I guess they didn't expect that anyone would see the difference as it had been 3 years since Flanagan last appeared on the show.

  • Yep, you said it. Makes a very nice change. Maybe you can use it for another of your ace montage vids. :)

  • Already downloaded it! :) Could you please send me the links to ALL your Sweeney 2 vids? just in case I miss any! :)

  • Okay, no probs. :)

  • Brilliant theme :) and not in 8 different parts :)

  • Tony Hatch did a terrific score here. 8)
