If you're using Anex86, go to Config -> Sound, and look at the bottom left corner where it says "Type". It'll have a drop down box with -26 and -86 as options - I believe it's set to -26 by default for whatever reason. There should be similar options on other emulators.
I'm glad I found this video or else I might've not realized what I was missing out on. The music sounds good on -26, but it sounds GODLY on -86

PC-98's audio source is 2 kinds. (and more...? dunno)
86(high quality) or 26(economy quality).
KOTSUJIN has each different BGMs.
This sounds 86 version. You had heard 26 version BGM, maybe.

The music is different...I played this on an emulator and it sounds different.
