Yet, the "trying to bite you" test seems a strange and fallible indentification criterion, as I have been bitten by a conclusively identified ornate box turtle (twice). I also never knew Mississippi mud turtles had hinged plastrons. Most of the species descriptions online neglect to mention it. Thanks!
