  • OMG.. the instructor is look like a walrus.. no wonder he can teach good..

  • I'm 11, i can't swimm at all!!! well I used to know how to but then I lost confidence and i guess thats what made me worse, but now that i've seen this video my confidence has starting to come back!!! thank you!!! :)

  • when i watch your videos i feel confidence but when im at the pool i feel panic

  • Mr. Bina, my five year old son is swimming better than ever after we watched your videos online together and implemented the techniques. He is trying to get his kicking down better before adding arm movement, but he always seems to stick his little bottom really high in the air while he is kicking, which definitely makes his kicks less effective. I am at a loss to correct this. Any suggestions? Thanks very much!

  • @southernredhead11 Hi, yeah that happens alot. He needs to arch his back (hips moved forward). This should bring his bottom down. Just tell him his rear end is too high and if he doesn't get it down he could get stung by a bee!!! See what happens!! All the best, Robert

  • ok here's my confession im 15 and don't know how to swim

i changed high schools and i just learned that we are going to swim

and i wanna learn before i become the laughing stalk of the school

so thanks you for these amazing tutorials Robert :)

  • hello mr. bina i'm 23 and shipping off to the navy soon. thank you for these great videos, you taught me to swim and now i feel like boot camp will be a breeze!

  • Yesterday was the day I learnt to swim, but Im having trouble keeping my head above the water and breathing is also a problem. As Ive only just learnt to swim, Im not a very strong swimmer, but I reach about half the length of the pool (4 metres) Im only stopping halfway because I can't hold my breath that long! I really need help on lifting my head out of the water and breathing. Has anyone got any advice?

  • Hello Sir Robet I always have trouble keeping my butt or my stomach up towards the water, then I start to fall in the water, is there any tips to that? Thanks :)

  • @MichelleMcCoolChamp Hi, You need to have an arch to your back while you are trying to float on your back. . On your stomach you need to place your hands out like you are giving up to the police. You should roll your shoulders a little forward. Take a deep breath and place your face down in the water with your eyes looking down at the pool.

  • Mr.Robert I'm a kid and today i went to my first swimming lesson, but when my teacher would say 'use your legs to kick and arms to stroke, i tried that i would end up going under water and sinking and start to panic. Please Help

  • The pool that i am learning how to swim in is 8 feet deep and when my feet left the bottom of the pool floor i panic . because the water gets a little deeper

  • Hi Thanks Robert, I am 40 but have started floating in 3 sessions just by watching ur videos. One suggestion i will make for newcomers ie to wear swimming goggles as seeing under water gives lot of confidence. I will be trying my kicking tomorrow with help of kickboard and will let you know. Thanks again for your wonderful lessons!

  • This video is going to help me gain swimming cofidence! I don't know how to swim

. Sometimes I get really scared when i try to float at the deep end. But now watching this vid is really going to help me. Thanks Robert!

  • @VictoriaVictoryable HI, If you are learning you should stay where you cn stand. Take care, Robert

  • I’m a P.E. / WSI instructor myself, great video's! I’ve implemented some of these strategies in my swim classes and seen great results.

  • @Septimius25 Hi, thanks alot. It is always nice to get positive criticism, especially from a colleague.

  • Hey im 13 and i still cant swim :( but its kind of embarrasing to do all this things in the pool in front of everyone so can you give me some other tips how to do it but not i water.

  • @gurlo1997 Hi, what can I say? If you want to learn how to swim you have to spend some time in the water. Find out what the pool hours are and then see that you are there when they open. Usually, when they open there are not so many people there and then you won't feel so self-conscious. Have Fun!!! Robert

  • Hey im 13 and i still cant swim :( but its kind of embarrasing to do all this thing in the pool in front of everyone so can you give me some other tips how to do it but not i water.

  • @gurlo1997 Hi, Try getting to the pool right when they open. Usually the first hour there are very few people at the pool. If the lifeguards are not busy they might also be able to give you some tips. Practice, Practice, Practice!!!

  • @gurlo1997 i'm 17 and just currently learning swimming

  • @biologyclass101 How?

  • @gurlo1997 it's a required subject in our P.E3

  • @gurlo1997 It's ok i learnt

  • Gosh...the only problem i have is i start to panic hardcore when I'm submerged too long. Even in the shallow end. :'( i may be claustrophobic but idk. :/

  • @xxPopurIxx Hi, you probably are claustrophobic. Pick yourself up some googles or a mask and then you will be able to see under water. Being able to look around should make things a little easier for you. Have fun!!! Robert

  • Ooh thanks!(:

  • I have a question; When I go underwater, I try to swim down but I keep goin up , why is that happening? I'm not even light, I'm kinda heavy . What am I doing wrong? :/

  • @loveyoumothermonster Hi, thats a pretty typical problem. When I tell kids to try and get things from the bottom of the pool they can't do it because they float so well. You are just a very bouyant person. Just try blowing some bubbles and then you should end up going down. Take care, Robert

  • Hi Robert. I am 13, and I do not know how to swim(isn't that sad?), but, every time I try to swim and kick my feet, it feels like they're going down to the bottom of the pool. Then, I stop kicking. Its kind weird, because it doesn't seem like it happens to other people. Please, tell me...what do you think the problem is. And, by the way, I love your videos! (:

  • @charlma1218 Hi, when you kick you should not keep your legs too straight. Your legs need to have more of a whip motion. Your knee bends in the up motion of the kick and then straightens in the down motion. Don't kick too far down. Watch the up and down part of the kick in the videos. Good Luck, Robert

  • nice

  • Hi robert, thnx for the videos. Iam 37 n just started learning how to swim. I can float n cover some distance by adding flutter kicks in a single breath but not able to add further breathing to my actions. please let me know what is my problem ? thnx

  • @obsolete00 Hi, Check out video 5 on the breathing technique. Alot of times the prblem is not blowing out enough air under water so then you don't have enough room to inhale the needed amount of new air. After awhile you start getting a feeling like your starving for air.

  • I can float (learnt it from your previous tutorial) but whenever I try to kick my feet sinks down and I come to an upright position. I think I am getting my weight distribution wrong (maybe im putting weight on my legs instead of the front portion of the body!) ...I'm keep trying! I'm determined to learn this thing!

  • @johnxxx9 Hi, I think your legs are too straight. They need to have more of a "whip" motion. The foot is heel up when bringing the leg up and then foot "ballerina" style in the downward part. Your longs are not stuck out straight. You see the kids practicing this when they are outside on the pool apron. Notice that only the bottom half of their upper leg is over the water. Keep up the good work.

    Robert

  • what's the ideal height for swimming?

  • i think yuhh shud b my instructor im 15 and still cant swim. :/ it sucks cuz we just started swimminq at skoo and im like the only one not knowinq how to swim uqh

  • Hi Robert, thank you so much for the feedback..means a lot to me. I will try to work on your tips.I'm sorry for the repeated messages, they were not getting displayed..so I posted it again.please can you delete the repeated one's?thanks!!

  • Hi Robert,Im 28 and just learning. As soon as I try to lift my head out of water while kicking,my legs sink.I've been trying, but something seems wrong.

Also I can put my head in nd out of waer for 3 times, after that it becomes overwhelming. What should i change?

  • @deepa7982 Hi, sounds like your lifting your head too high out of the water. If your head is too high it forces your legs down. Then your kick is pushing you out of the water not across it. Practice, practice, practice.

  • hi Robert,Thanks for the videos.Im 28, taking classes and just started kicking with the kickboard.I can go a little distance with kicking, but as soon as I lift my head to take a breath, my legs begin to sink.

Also, after putting my head in and out for 3 times,it becomes overwhelming and i stop

How do i overcome these 2 problems

  • @deepa7982 Hi, I think you have several problems. See if this helps. It sounds as if you are not blowing out air while your face is in the water, When you raise your face you should mostly only be breathing in. You might also be raising your head too high when you take your breath. In addition, you might be pushing down on the board when you lift your head. All these are unnecessary movements and work against you while in the water. Relax, Relax, Relax!! Good Luck, Robert

  • Hi Robert, thanks for the lessons.Im 28 and just started learning.I couldnt move an inch unless I put my head totally in the water while kicking.

But the main problem is when i put my head out for taking a breath, immediately my legs start to sink..

The other problem is I can just about put my head in and out for 3 times..after that it gets overwhelming and i stop swimming.

I have been trying for 4-5 classes..but i cant seem to understand if there is some technique im missing...Please help!!

  • These lessons are the best not only on YT, but on whole Internet.

    Thank you very much Robert!

  • hello im turning 9 i need to learn how to swim especially the kicking and the using my hands im getting much better thx

  • everytime i try to attempt to float, like lifting my feet i always think am going to drown how can i get over that fear? - thanks

  • @zeelelynn Hi, I know that is a pretty scary feeling. I have kids who have the same problem and it just takes alot of repertition. Just repeating one skill so often it becomes boring. It also helps if someone holds your hands and walks slowly backwards as you take your breath, put your head down and glide. Good Luck, Robert

  • Im 11 too...*SIgh* I want to learn to swim so I dont get embarraseed at school!

  • I am 11 i don't know how to swim! ut im learning

  • @bratkaonrs Hi, be patient and practice, practice, practice! Take care, Robert

  • I live in New Jersey and I just can't wait for summer to come so that I can open my swimming pool. I was almost drowned last year.. Thank God! I servived and lesson I learned was never ever swim alone..irrepective whether u know swimming or not. There should be someone to keep watch on you OUTSIDE the water (my wife threw me rope to pull out) and dont push too hard if u feel tired or in general not feeling well, get out of the pool. Thanks for great Videos, I am going to try it this year.

  • Your vids r great!!! im 14 n dont know how 2 swim but im getting! there thanks 2 u and my mum!!

  • Thanks Isabell!!!

    Robert

  • Hats off Robert! I live in Mumbai, India, and I just got my daughters, 3 1/2 and 8 1/2, to learn swimming. Your videos have been extremely useful. My kids love 'em and keep watching 'em. Keep up your good work.

  • tarakanobis , I am 41 and just got finished with swimming lessons. The main thing about swimming is learning to be relaxed in the water.

  • unbeliable .. a kid thats like 5 years old can learn how to swim.. :( i dont know how to swim . l0l & im 14.

  • Yeah it's always amazing, like you see kids even younger than that like 3 or 4 swimming around like it's nothing and I'm like...really?

I'm still working on my techniques and the little kid is just doing it like it's nothing.

Then again they probably have more buoyancy since they have more bodyfat.

  • Im 13 and i can't swim. I'm trying to teach myself but these videos really going to help when i go swimming (it winter now, so yah.)
