the effect it has is

without the red everything would just blend in making it harder to see the messed up/things that need to be erased on the drawing

where as with the red it makes the messed up/need to be erased parts stand out more so you can better erase and see a finer outline drawing

Technically, people, chocopiezz isn't "drawing", per se, because "drawing" is used with the pencil or brush tool, and this is all using the curved line tool. Now, I'm not hating on anything, but a lot of people can "draw" using the curved line.
