Anytime you go to a psychiatrist, the ONLY thing they are trained to do is pump you full of drugs. They aren't trained like psychologists are to look at the bigger picture (thinking habits, behavior, etc). Apparently, learning about neurotransmitters and different lobes are more important than training psychiatrists that DRUGGING is not the same thing as CURING.
There are cases where children should be removed. That's the truth. But there should be more support for kids in these cases, in any case. But these stories just make me want to help these kids. I really hope I'll be in a place to help. We can't depend on this system, and it's not all the system's fault even. Where are the good people when these kids need them? Why aren't more people helping these kids? We need more good, honest people to help give these kids home.

when you were talking about aging out with no support I just started to cry because the same thing happened to me. they just gave me a list of homeless shelters and kicked me to the curb knowing i had no family to turn to. i didn't know how to live on my own. i just jumped around to friends houses or slept in my car. I'm sorry your foster parents were awful, mine were a little better than yours. But no matter how they treat you foster care is so terrible. It hurts so much to be without a family and therapists and nobody ever listens to how you are hurting inside. Nobody understands. I was put on pills at 15-18. I stopped taking them as soon as I aged out.

I wasnt a foster child, but my families kind of broken yeah I'm lucky but my mom can't function as an adult my fathers the only one who was able to actually teach me how to live on my own doctors put me on cocktails of drugs since I was little I hit about 14 and they gave me depakote now I can't remember half my childhood and I'm 16, I mean it's painful too cause at times that are completely random haunting memories come to me and it hurts so fucking bad.

As a foster child when I was young, they gave me coctails of all types of experimental and pysciatric drugs, documented me as insane, didn't allow me to go to school. locked me up with no charges (They said they couldn't find a placement), in and out of hospitals, emancipated me without me asking and left me and my infant on the street before I was 18, and even tried to take my child.

horrible people. they do dope the kids up to make the lies stick easier. when they were children, and were a bit hyper and anxious, did their parents fill them full of ADD, ADHD, ridilin, and all sorts of other nasty medications. prescribed by MANY doctors, not just one, who dont talk amongst themselves about the patient, and all the meds prescribed. ultimately, half the meds are being taken to combat side effects from the other half the meds, and unneeded. it truly is sad.and its done for MONEY

I can feel the hurt in your soul because I have felt the exact same pain. but please be determined to prove everyone wrong. i know you can do it. i am finally graduating from college in 3 months now that i am 30 years old. i am the oldest in my classes but i don't care. i couldn't do it any sooner because of having no support. but i got there eventually, i got things straight eventually. don't ever give up hope. i've seen the bottom and it's ugly but the top is so so beautiful.

when you were talking about aging out with no support I just started to cry because the same thing happened to me. they just gave me a list of homeless shelters and kicked me to the curb knowing i had no family to turn to. i didn't know how to live on my own. i just jumped around to friends houses or slept in my car. BUT PLEASE DON'T GIVE UP HOPE. i promise you that you can make it in life, BECAUSE THE FACT THAT YOU HAVE MADE IT THIS FAR THRU SO MANY CIRCUMSTANCES PROVES YOU ARE A STRONG PERSON.

I'm really sorry. I feel like I want to hug you. I grew up in foster care from the time I was 5 until I aged out at 18 also. I'm sorry your foster parents were awful, mine were a little better than yours. But no matter how they treat you foster care is so terrible. It hurts so much to be without a family and therapists and nobody ever listens to how you are hurting inside. Nobody understands. I was put on pills at 15-18. I stopped taking them as soon as I aged out.

No drugs for kids! Real shrinks won't prescribe them. Foster parents should be better screened and kids now-a-days can talk on cell phones more easily... if they are being abused. But all this, won't change what you went through. And for that I am so sorry. No person deserves that kind of treatment. I speak for many when I say, that I am so glad that you overcame your hardship. From now on, all we can do is support Boys and Girls Clubs and the like. Be positive influences in children's lives.

I wasnt a foster child, but my families kind of broken yeah I'm lucky but my mom can't function as an adult my fathers the only one who was able to actually teach me how to live on my own doctors put me on cocktails of drugs since I was little I hit about 14 and they gave me depakote now I can't remember half my childhood and I'm 16, I mean it's painful too cause at times that are completely random haunting memories come to me and it hurts so fucking bad.

As a foster child when I was young, they gave me coctails of all types of experimental and pysciatric drugs, documented me as insane, didn't allow me to go to school. locked me up with no charges (They said they couldn't find a placement), in and out of hospitals, emancipated me without me asking and left me and my infant on the street before I was 18, and even tried to take my child.

A child remains in Corsicana TX, & from age 9, CPS has done everything destroy him. He is 15, the size of a 10 year-old, and the staff cannot figure out why he acts out every afternoon, remaining in solitaire for days on end. I know exactly how he feels I was put in DSHS at 5-16 I was supost to be in state care till 18 but the state of Washington ODed me on pills and thought I was going to die so they sent me back to my grand partents so they could put me in the ground. I care about what your saying...not alot of people care..trust me.I was in the system from 5 to 18 as well.I care because i can feel the pain.I really hope you do something good with yourself don't let your past bring you down..you got to fight most of the world on your way.I didn't fight..i couldn't and still can't show emotions..i bottled it up and it ate a hole in my soul..i try and try to forget but i can't.You got to fight cause this world ain't for the weak.

My husband and I are planning to be foster parents and we plan on healing children the way God intended, with natural supplements, good nutrition, and getting in touch with nature. My kids feel the same way. They put my 3 year old on zoloft, ritalin, and many other drugs just because he through a temper tantrum. We fight and say no, and it always back fires.

I can't count the number of drugs I was on in foster care. I finally took myself off of all of them against doctor's advice at age 22. I didn't feel like a zombie anymore....I actually felt alive.
