Ah Sir Harry. The man was legendary. My father had many Harry Secombe records and several Goons 78s that I listened to as a child which made me a life-long Goons and Harry Secombe fan. I now have every surviving Goons recording and I still listen to some of them when I need a laugh. The man had an amazing voice, a wicked sense of humour and some real acting skill, he is missed.
@renard801 I think he actually hit the wrong note at the end, accidentally, and then tried to cover it by gradually getting higher and higher. I could be wrong, but that is what it sounded like.
Hi: No, you have to understand that Harry Secombe was one of the British "Goons", an entertainer who was forever playing the fool. He was also a talented singer. Harry would often change key several times in a song, just to be an idiot! The man simply could not resist clowning around, couldn't be serious for too long before doing something absurd and bursting into maniacal laugher!
Love Sir Harry and miss him. Last saw him live in London back in '75 in the "Piumbers Progress" and have heard him in all the Goon Shows.
Amazing voice, amazing humour and a generally amazing man. Well deserving of the knighthood!
