When I was 8 years old I begged my parents to let me rent this video game. I insisted it wasn't too violent or scary for me. At 0:14 - 0:24 during the intro I ran out of my bedroom in terror and never played any of the game the rest of the time we had it rented.

I liked a lot the first splatterhouse ending, Just simply, this must be the only game where the girl in distress dies at half part of the game and then you act for revenge.

The second game screwed a little the unique history of the first bringing her back to life.

But the history of the third game is so great, that i dont care the second game plot.

The best thing about the 3 is the fact you have time limit. and the monsters easily kill you. This game push your nerves to the limit, that rocks.

Namco pushed the Genesis HARD. Scaling, rotation, and all kinds of special software effects!

SH III was a sleeper & it completely destroyed the previous iterations.When I rented this (I spent a summer in this small city in the middle of South Dakota - long story) I had no idea what to expect but I was thrilled with the game...and scared. Late nights with this game as a youngster left me feeling WEIRD. I'll ALWAYS remember that summer - and all the great games I rented! Gunstar, Super SFII, etc.

This game scared me when I was just a little man. I made my older cousin play it as I cowerd half way under my blankets only peeking at the screen. The part that scared me to most (other than the music), was when the thing eating the bodies turns and looks at you (I forget which level).

Hollywood would ruin a movie of this like they have every other video game they have gotten their hands on. Resident Evil, May Payne, Final Fantasy, etc.

Movies based on games suck, and games based on movies suck too. Except for GoldenEye. that was awesome. everything else sucks.

Movies based on games only suck because they never make the movie like the game. They just use the franchise name and a few recognizable parts/characters and then change everything else with a completely original story.

Final Fantasy wasn't based on the games at all, neither was Resident Evil. You could rename those movies and it wouldn't affect them at all.

Now if they stuck to the exact game story and everything like that, they could probably make some decent movies.

Instead of actually using the game's unique plot, characters, motifs, etc., they spit something out at as low a cost as they possibly can just to make a buck. they know that there are people who will go see the movie purely because of the video game's name on it, and that it doesn't require any quality content to get an audience, because it already has one.

Another big problem is that games with unique storylines such as this get turned into such crap because the big movie studios aren't going to fund a move that say 10,000 fans want to see. They'll add their own "twists" or "improvements" to make it appeal to a larger audience. Just look at the Silent Hill movie. Word is on the sequel they want to have a teen cast so that it will appeal to a wider audience.

You kill Jennifer in 1, her spirit is trapped in the void, the mask use a spell to allow Rick to enter the Void, There, he removes Jennifer spirit from a cristal, taking her out of the Void, so she gains flesh again.

I forgive anyone who didn't make it to the Jennifer fight in Splatterhouse 1, but you all do need to realize that it is in fact Jennifer you fight and it is in fact Jennifer you kill in Splatterhouse 1. Splatterhouse 2 is about the mask helping Rick bring Jennifer back to life. Although this was just disguising it's own true motives.

Right, also taking her out of the void removes the only barrier that was holding back The Evil One, as I understood it. Hence why SH3 comes around. The mask wanted Rick to destroy the Evil One so that it could reign supreme.

I don't know there really is no explanation so until Namco releases an official statement the Splatterhouse storyline is pretty much there is a house now go kill stuff.
