  • When Snape reached for his wand to cast the Patronus charm, I expected Dumbledore to flinch or somethng but he was very calm. That shows how much he trusted Snape.

  • it takes Alan Rickman only one word to beat up 4 twilight films. Always.

  • "always"

  • :'(

  • i can watch this a million times and still tear up... snape <3

  • @firecrackers4391 Same here I can only really watch it if I change it to a different language.

  • Little Harrys face at 3:04 :( so cute

  • This scene makes me cry. Always.

  • This scene always makes me cry, every time.

  • "Always"

It's amazing how powerful that word is in this scene. He deserves much more credit for that part of the film than he has got. Snape will always be my favourite Harry Potter character...

  • 2 people were killed by the dark lord

  • who disliked this!!!

  • can someone explain this to me please? its really confusing me!

so in this scene, (2:50) snape sends that thing to protect harry when the dementors are going to kill him, but in harry potter 3 (prisoner of askaban) its harry that protects himself when he goes back in time! whats going on?

    someone please explain! thanks! x

  • @CheerleaderKatiexx it wasn't snape's patronus. at 2:50 he didn't send it anywhere they only showed that his patronus was a doe like Lily's he helped him later by giving him Godric sword. and at prisoner of askaban harry did patronus and his patronus was a stag

  • @tomislav61 ohhh, thankyou! :P

  • 50 years later at LeakyCon-

*Dumbledore appears looking at us, all in our late 60s*

Dumbledore: Potterheads, after all this time?

*We raise our wand up in tears*

    Potterheads: ALWAAAAAYS!

  • "ALWAYS" that one word is enough to get him an Oscar.

  • Alan Rickman's line-delivery of the "Expecto Patronum" had me in tears!... so beautiful..

  • "Always" That may be the single most moving line in the entire book series.

Oh Snape, to be the victim of unrequited love

  • @ Stratisfactionx7

It's 'Severus and Lily' by Alexandre Desplat.

  • 3:02 almost had me crying in the theater.

  • @AdamWe631 I was sobbing

  • what is that sad music? its beautiful? does somebody know?

  • @Stratusfactionx7 In the later parts of the scene it's Dumbledore's Farewell.

  • After all this time?

    Always...

This is the scene by which I was impressed most.

  • When I first saw this, I was sitting in a movie theatre between my boyfriend and his mother. It was quite embarassing having to stop myself from crying.

  • Alan Rickmans voice is amazing, my fave part was when the Lily? after all this time and the Expecto Partonum bit

  • the only movie I ever cry to...

  • this sence made me cry so hard

  • this 8 minute memory sequence was one of the best parts of the movie. just perfect the way they did it with the effects color correction and oh the musical score for this scene. emotionally powerful.

  • Snape himself, not the actor, should have won an oscar for playing Voldemort like a fiddle XD

  • voldermort made to accounts to dislike this video

  • @MichaelTumulteTV

No, the second one was Petunia for sure.

  • its hard to believe that little boy from the first movie has grown up into a man. they don't look anything alike.

  • 'ALWAYS'

That simple word made me wish I had never cursed when he killed Dumbledore. That simple word made me change all my thoughts and reconsider the whole Harry Potter series from thr moment i started reading to the moment i finished reading fot the tenth time. That simple word changed my whole heart at this excact moment. Thank you Severus Snape. I will always remember you. R.I.P.

  • @mariatvd7 Agree. I never knew how intense HP got. It got so powerful and it builded and builded, then the first part of the war, I was already pretty shocked. But, then Severus's death scene complety freaked me out, then he was like "You have ur mothers eyes" I was like, oh no. Then the Snape memories, nearly emotionally kiled me. Then in the forrest to the end of the battle. Basically I was the dead XD, even more when he named his kid Albus Severus. Snape is my hero. RIP

  • @mariatvd7 omg this makes me sound like a sissy but as soon as he said "always" in the theatre, i broke out into tears. it was pretty embarassing, I didn't sob or anything but it hit me deep. Such an emotional part, I even teared up when i read taht part in the book. Alan rickman NEEDS to have won an oscar or something just for that powerful line.

  • @jualkyn I so agree with you. Really strong and emotional performance. I admire him so much.

  • The part that is the saddest is when snape is holding lilys dead body and you can see baby harry crying in the background :( Plus fun fact my name is Lily :)

  • 2 people will be killed by Voldemort

  • @luisnarro100 DONT SAY HIS NAME YOU FILTHY MUGGLE XD

  • @luisnarro100 thats stupid

  • i thought harry is suppose to have lily's eyes.. and yet the little girl they picked to play lily as a little girl had dark brown eyes..

  • Snape*....

  • Omg that part where Snap is holding Lily's body always gets me.:'( my eyes are blurryy! D:.and his face when he comes in the door and first sees her!! What. an. actor. Q.Q

  • 2 people were blinded by their tears and missed the "like" button.

  • *tear* cried when i saw Snapes memories... so sad.

  • In the theater, when the music from Dumbledore's death started, I lost it. Just so freaking sad.

  • stupid movie

  • climax of the series

  • God Dammit! Alan Rickman should have won an award!

  • I love this part in Harry Potter but compared to how it happened in the book, I'm not content with this. They should've actually showed how Lily and Severus became best friends but then drifted apart when he called her a Mudblood. And the part where Severus ransacked Sirius' house and took the end of a letter which bore Lily's signiture that said "Lots of love".

That way it would've been even more tear-jerking. *sniff*

  • Anyone else in tears for little-Severus?

  • @LOLover69 Are you kidding? I'v seen this part probably a dozen times and STILL cried. This is the most emotionally shocking movie ever! [Cries agin]

  • @spock101010 I agree that harry potter has a better story than twilight. But they did a bad job showing the love story on the movies

  • Harry Potter told a better love story in 8 minutes than Twilight showed in 4 films

  • @spock101010 Oh you had to mention it.

  • @Katsumoto0456

But of course. I'm stating a fact

  • @spock101010 The action of mentioning it is immortalising it -.-

  • @spock101010 You shouldn't even compare that trash to Harry Potter.

  • @Ameliadams the patronus spell is casted by the witch/wizard thinking a happy thought. In this case they are showing how Snape's happy thought is Lily.

  • WAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA lily plz come back!!!!!!!!!!!!! james breath! waaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa FUCK YOU VOLDAFUCKER!

  • (ruins the moment by talking about how awesome Alan Rickman is)

  • Best scene from the movie... and then I realised Harry isn't dead... what a disapointment...

  • It's horrible to rise alone, when you are different, just like Hary, when no one can comprehend you, your suffering, your past. It's simply heartbreaking.

  • @Ameliadams Well, James was an Animagus, and his animal form was a stag. Since Lily married him, a stag's mate is a doe, so, metaphorically, Lily was a "doe." Snape's Patronus is a doe. So he did mean that he has always loved Lily.

  • 1:31 I have that same owl!

  • I can't decide which scene I like better, this or the Resurrection Stone scene ;_;

  • "Lily...... After all this time?"

    "...Always."

    <3 best line ever

  • So I watched this movie in theaters like a month after it came out, cuz there was no freaking way I was going to just watch THE LAST HARRY POTTER MOVIE ON MY FREAKING TV. So when we got there, there were literally like three people in the audience, but gradually started to fill up until the whole place was full. So when this scene came up, and Lily was telling baby Harry how much everyone loves him, I started to cry silently. This is my all time favorite movie scene. Sorry this was so long.

  • Never before have less than 10 minutes of film touched so many people so much. I watched this film twice in theaters, and both times, when this part rolled over the screen, everything when dead silent. No popcorn chewing, no soda bottle being opened, not even a fucking sneeze! Even emotionally absent teens completely froze. It was like everybody knew that this was something special. Romeo and Juliet is nothing compared! Severus and Lily is the most touching love story I've ever seen!

  • Thats why Snape was never afraid of Voldemort, he took away the very thing that Snape lived for. Snape technically died in the Battle of Hogwarts, i say he died that very night in Godric's Hallow :~(

  • Comment removed

  • okay i'm crying out my eyes because just like dumbledore said he risked his life for harry and i also cried when he was hugging lily. i tried holding back my tears at the movies but some people behind me were already crying.

  • Odio me stessa per aver odiato Severus tutto questo tempo.

I hate my self for i've been hating Severus all this time.

  • Oh my god OMG ! Just cant describe how much I love Harry Potter :( I crack so badly at 2:04 :(:( SO EMOTIONAL :'( WE LOVE YOU FOR EVER HARRY POTTER <3

  • this made me think dombuldor is an asshole who doesnt care abwt harry

  • @gundam116 At least spell his name correctly if you're gonna call him a asshole.

  • Best movie ever. I loved it.

  • don't fucking cry.... AAAAAARGHHH!!!!! :'OOO

  • Best frickin turn of events in a movie! ;) one question tho: ive heard ppl speculating that he was in fact harry's real father. i didnt read the books so i dont know. can anyone tell me for sure what the real deal is?

  • @1ucantmesswith No, Snape is not Harry's father. That's pretty apparent even in the movies. I mean... Harry looks EXACTLY like James Potter.... Lily and Severus hadn't talked since he called her a mudblood and they had their falling out. She married James and then Harry came along.

  • @1ucantmesswith

why bother watching the movies if you dont bother reading the books? you dont even get half the information from the movies.

  • @theaxylum Well, I ended up watching the first two movies first - and years later after they came out. By the second movie, I wanted to watch them all (I was hooked), so it was too late by then to read the books. besides, i heard the movies were great even compared to the books.

  • Must not fucking cry...

  • This scene just got me the most :( I tried to hold the crying back, but i couldn't. Alans acting had me in tears and just watching him hugging Lily, kills me :,(

    R.I.P Severus

  • The 'always' got me :'(

  • @geekvsworld sorry but i'm not very good in my sense of understand, but what does it mean when snape cast the expecto patronum spell ( the deer shape ) and dumbledore said ' lily ' and then snape said always....does it mean he always love lily, but i don't get it, what is the connection with the expecto patronum spell ???

  • @Ameliadams it's not explained very well in the movies, corporeal patronus are also referred to as Spirit Guardians, The particular animal the patronos takes form of reflects the personality of the caster, it is rare when a patronous changes form and it symbolizes a deep change within the person, Nymphadora Tonks patronus also changed when she fell in love with lupin and was conflicted by it, also Lily's patronous was a doe too, i trust you can see the correlation now. =)

  • @geekvsworld Same here. ; _ ;

  • Nice to know I'm not the only one who cries everytime...

  • Pussies, LOL.

  • If you didn't wept in your heart when Snape hold Lily's body in his arm, you are not human.

  • @genelin1995 I'm the Devil then jeje, but after this scene Snape becomes one of the greatest characters in Harry Potter's world, personally he's my favorite character.

  • @nvsmp I think there is a mistake, what I was trying to say is if a person did not cry when Snape saw Lily got killed it would be quite heartless to do that. I like Snape, he sacrificed a lot for his love for Lily and it is very admirable.

  • Snape's Death *Cries*

    Snape's Memory Scene *Cries*

Harry Sees His Family and Lupin Again *Cries*

    Harry Dies *Cries*

    Voldemort Hugs Draco *Dies laughing*

  • @rraacchh2 i lol'd at the end lmaao

  • @rraacchh2 I thought he saw Sirius?

  • Damn why do I always cry like a baby watching this... always.

  • *Don't fucking cry*

  • That awkward moment when you find out your creepy teacher has the hots for your dead mom.

  • This very scene tops twilight

  • @ronweasleyandharry

its not too hard to do that.

  • Snape: *Holding Lily's body and crying*

Harry: *Crying in the background* Get away from my mother you creep.

    Even then Harry hated him.

  • This video deserves to be in this PLAYLIST!

  • i wanted to marry snape on the spot when i first saw this

  • @jwade12361 tough he's dead lol

  • that's how a true, brave man loves, embracing the pain and misery himself with open arms

  • I can always make it until " Lilly? After all this Time?", "Always"

  • I hate how they didnt put in the part where he bargained Harry and James lives just to saved Lily's. And they never show where James saves his life and tries to be his friend but still Snape still becomes a Death Eater. And how Dumbledore had to beg him to protect Harry and doesnt ask Dumbledore to hide them all , just Lily/ They make Snape to be this perfect little boy scout when he's not. They amended this scene just for all the Snape lovers and so they can praise him and down James

  • Happy Birthday, Severus. You are one of best fictional characters around. Without you, I wouldn't have had a reason to enjoy JK Rowling's series. Snape: Don't tell me now you've grown to care for me. Me: Expecto Patronum. A silver doe appears and goes around, then it vanishes. Severus: (Touched, tears well up) An homage… To me. (A beat) After all this time? [This refers to me being a fan of him.] Me: (Nods smiling) Always. We put a hand on each-others shoulders, we smile.
  • Snape should have said "Yippie Kai-yay! Motha!" When he last encountered Voldemort

  • I swear.. I cry every freakin time during this scene. :'(

  • I very nearly cried in the damn theatre, it was really really close to happening.

  • After all this time? Always.

  • I almost cried when I first saw this scene. I think one of the really touching parts is when Snape is cradling Lily, but what I noticed is that Harry was in the background as a baby, and he was crying too. Like, when there's just a scene of baby Harry, he has tears in his eyes and then when Snape is cradling Lily, Harry's crying. He's so sad. :(

  • i think it is really cute that Snape and lily both have a doe as a protonus

  • Severus should have got lily because he had endless love for her and in the book she's a bit of a bitch and treats him badly but that never stopped him loving her-/3

  • Can someone explain to me why lily and snaps both have a Doe? I know he says always but I'm a little confused on that part.

  • I didn't understand the conversation at 2:38???

  • @angrypooch The patronus is supposed to be a representation of some core part of the caster. Here Snape's is a doe, which was the form of Lily's patronus too. So in response to Dumbledore's question, Snape shows he's still doing it all for Lily.

  • Snape represents everything that's unfair about life. Falls in love with a Gryffindor he has no chance with because he's a Slytherin (even though Wormtail was a Gryffindor), constantly bullied by the guy who stole her from him, forced into Voldemort's army, makes a deal with Dumbledore who fails him, but he has nobody else to rely on. Lily murdered by the guy he served, her kid is an ass, forced to murder the only man he could rely on, hated again, knew Lily's son needed to be killed... damn. :(

  • @bassetts1899 It's not because he was a Slytherin that he couldn't have Lily. It was because he got into darker things that Lily didn't like, and she drifted away from him.

  • :'( I told myself I wasn't going to cry

  • finally, the fucking original video and not some shitty fan made crap !!

  • Gives me the chills everytime

  • not gonna cry

    not gonna cry

    not gonna cry

    not gonna......

    FUCK...

  • I was cried when he said "always" T^T

  • After all this time?

    Always......

  • Sry i meant he faces the way of the patronom before it goes its way

  • Look at Dumbledores face when snape do the patronom, he doesnt know where it goes :D

    Sry for my english ""

  • I cry everytime I watch it...

  • R.I.P Cedric Diggory, Sirius Black, Albus Dumbledore, Fred Weasley, Hedwig, Dobby, Remus Lupin, Nymphadora (Tonks) Lupin, Lavender Brown, Severus Snape, and everyone who was murdered by Voldemort and his followers. R.I.P. those who died fighting Voldemort.

  • Everyone went silent after this scene. A lot of the deaths throughout the series were quite tragic, but not as peculiar and touching as this one. Even before Harry saw the memories, Snape's death had struck a nerve. I didn't cry, but only because I was on the verge of tears but determined not to bawl in front of the whole theater. I don't know why I cared, everyone was crying. But the beautiful thing was, they were silent tears. Respectful, even.

  • sorry guys, I think half the views on this video are mine

  • He never Hated harry he ptoected him lily was his everything he should of been his son and thats the awful thing !

  • I found it unfortunate that they didn't schow the death of James and Lily in part 1, but this scene has really surprised me!!!! AMAZING SCENE!

  • ALAN RICKMAN DESERVES AN OSCAR

  • @uglytwat123 agreed, im even crying in anticipation for the vid to start lol

  • Albus: Lily... After all This time?

    Severus: Always.

I'm a Man But those are my Favorite lines in the Entire Film Series

  • THE BEST SCENE OF ALL HP!!

  • now one last request: turn to page 394

  • I wil never forget when i was at the cinema

after this scene the only thing a could hear was the people crying

that moment was something i'll never forget

  • Eat your heart out, Twilight!

  • Oh god Snape I'm sorry for hating you all this time! Thankyou JK Rowling for writing the greatest love story ever told right there.

  • Chose to honour him as a brave man even after he was gone :) i also love and respect his true loyalty and devotion to lily, even when she ahut him out and moved on, and he knew he would never truly be happy, he held on. Amazing scene.

  • Ive never been a harry potter fan, but my sister owns the whole series and just got part 2 for christmas and was begging me to watch it with her (shes 11) so i did just to make her happy but i actially enjoy it and i found myself really torn up when snape died and when hary watched his memory. Hes one of those ppl who seem mean on the outside but on the inside, they are this whole other nice person. That one scene alone showed everyone severus snape's true colours :) and i was very happy harry

  • @MsFatcat13 I hope you saw the other ones or atleast read the books if not youre punishing yourself

  • :(

  • @MsFatcat13 :D

  • I watched this clip over and over again and by the time he said "Always" I burst into tears. A few minutes ago, I pressed play, determined not to cry while watching the scene. I failed once again.

  • Poor Snape, loving a girl who fell in love with a guy who bullied him in school. He protected her only child because he was the one that told the Dark Lord about the prophecy and killed Lily. Killed the beloved Dumbledore, pretended to be a Death Eater, was called a coward constantly, hated among everyone, but without him..Voldermort would not have been stopped.

I can't help but cry during this scene, it kills me what Snape went through.

  • Alexandre ***Desplat*** I mean, not desolate. ftw

  • Have to give Alexander Desolate some credit for making this extremely touching music as well. Most would't have shed tears without it.

  • Everyone in my cinema applauded after this scene. I hope Alan Rickman wins the Oscar. He must.

  • Pause at 2:18

  • 1 dislikes ? who is this voldemort or james potter ??

  • Comment removed

  • this is without a doubt the most heartbreaking scene in the entire series...

Snape was the one who suffered the most from day 1... during each scene there was a different reaction in the theatre, boos, screams, etc... but with this scene the audience went completely silent... the only scene that truly left both guys and girls in tears.... the moment when Snape says "always..." was the epitome of endless love...

hats off to Alan Rickman... masterfull performance from start to finish...!
