a ton of people think that is was about "Mary" the mother of Jesus but in fact it is about McCartney's mother who died of cancer when he was 14. Before she passed away, she had told her son about a dream she had. she told him that when she passes on to just "Let it be" because life will go on after she goes on. He talked about mother mary (HIS MOTHER) and how she was a huge inspiration in his life.
