It was a devastating massive historic punishment to the Dems.
Obama has virtually no chance in 2012 and Dems will lose even more seats.

I don't think Dems really understand what happened on election day yet:
20+ governorships, 60+ house seats, most of the senate seats, and 18+ state legislatures turning RED. Reps won 700 state legislature seats and Dem won 1. 1 SINGLE SEAT. We got Penn, Ohio, and Florida, and even Obama's senate seat in IL.
It was a devastating massive historic punishment to the Dems.
Obama has virtually no chance in 2012 and Dems will lose even more seats.

@jumpwedge - Presidents who lost Congressional seats during term - Bush2,Clinton,Bush1,Reagan,Carter,NIxon, LBJ,Kennedy,Ike,FDR,Hoover,Colledge- I could go on but wouid run out of room.
Presidents pretty much always lose seats in mid-terms but then win re-election.
For the GOP to win in 2012 they need a good bill to create jobs (not huge tax cuts for richest 2% - tried that under Bush & it failed) & a comprehensive immigration bill w/ path to citizenship to get Hispanic vote.

Comprehensive immigration is gone, are you kidding. Even if immigration reform comes around it will not allow new immigrants to vote for years and years till they assimilate.
I pray Obama and Dems go hard left so they lose big in 2012. They already are going to have to defend 24 senate seats to our 9. We will swallow up more of those seats as well.

And then they came back to win re-election.
They usually win because the mid-term folks come in with big promises, but can't deliver.

Clinton lost 52 but you are right that you have to go all the way back to FDR (70 years) till you get to something as historic as what happened this week.
It was an absolute devastation to Dems and they will lose more in 2012 because of so many Dems up for reelection.
FYI Bush actually gained seats in his first mid-term.
As Chris Matthews said with unemployment at 9.6% even Pailin could beat Obama in 2012.

Five kids, one of them with downs, a great husband, she puts people in seats wherever she goes, and shes a proud conservative women in an age where that sort of unabashed conservativism in women is usually meant with scorn. You'd think women around the country would be proud of her and men holding her up as an example of what women politicans could be.
