@MrTexan505 the storyline it self isn't based of one event. But multiple. (with some added things of course... Different planets, etc) as well as the Helghast leaders are all based off of multiple dictators over the past 300 years.

I dont watch Machinima so I wouldnt know about that series. 2 i just looked it up, and it is a completely different style of history, it talked about the history of the game and the developers etc. mine talks about the history that is used in the game, in comparison to what really happened in real life.
