He's from planet Terah. But you dont know that in the beginning. Every one from his planet has a tail. He doesnt know what he is. The reason hes not on his planet is, in jealousy, when his practical brother Kuja didnt want Zidane to over power him, he dropped him on Gaia.

i think it made her look more mature. Short hair fits her pretty well (though her long hair was absolutely beautiful in FMVs).

I agree with you. I always liked the short hair better. Besides it was animated more realisticly. It didnt look as greecy.
