I purchased an Origin about two weeks ago and had to return it back to the store. The Origin sounds very good and the front panel layout is well thought out and easy to use but the software was very buggy. Screen freezes, jumpy encoders, loud pop's when turned on & off, abruply cut off notes even in poly mode. For a piece of equipment that has been out in the market for over two years there sure are a lot of bugs crawing around this thing.
I own an Origin, and you really don't get how incredible and fantastic sounding it is until you've lived with it for a few days, and compared it to your favorite rompler or VA. I use it more than any of my still-excellent synths, and have created more than a dozen emulations of classic analog synths with it. And it's a freaking polyphonic, programmable MODULAR!!
@rhodes1986 yes, this machine works best with an advanced synthesist. if u understand how synthesisers work and how to get to the sounds you want, eg. type of osc, filters, and match them up, u can pretty much get almost anything u want. i made a nice tb303 out of it, 12dB filter, envelopes, accents, glide, sequencer and distortion included :)
@rhodes1986 vangelis for sure, the signature vangelis brass sound was the CS-80 synthesizer. you can make a patch on this using entirely CS-80 modules and get pretty much the same sound
"imonitiharatori minimog hottowaa!!" )) when i hear japanese it always sounds to me like "draw swords and to battle" ... sorry, terrible prejudice i know
this guy is really fantastic, even if i don't understand a word... i watched every one of his video, and it helped me to build my studio...great! and THANKS!
I love this device, I do want one but it's too expensive... :-(
I'm pretty sure that it costs the half price that it costs, you could see thousands Origins around the world.. France is too expensive, If someone takes the risk, you could manufacture it in China, so Arturia can deal with the margins... heheh
I dunno if you already have , but : Checkout Arturias plugins like : Minimoog V and Jupiter 8 , they sound awesome and you might propably get same sounds out of them.
@darksideofdarkness They should make a small keyboard version with the same power, but less interface. It would be a compromise, but I think if it made it more like $1000 then it would be worth it.
I really enjoyed this overview. Even though I don't understand Japanese, it was easy to grasp the language of music. Wonderful demo and playing of one of the best synths on the market.
great item and playing (press CC and get the subtitles or what ??)

So this is like a hardware combination of Arturia's VSTi synths? Sounds sweet as lovers first 'love ya' confession! ^^

I liked the video, but I wish I knew japanese; the reviewer is obviously smart and enthusiastic about this machine--I'd like to know what he thinks!
