  • They copied Toyota IQ

  • WHAT THE FUCK IS THIS SHIT? WHATS WRONG WITH YOU ASTON&

  • I bet this guy shits gold.

  • price ?

  • Its a Toyota Aygo with abit of Bling, or a 107 / C1 with afew posh bits. How can Aston Martin lay claim to a car, its like a tuning company claiming to be a car manfacturer.

  • Finally Aston Martin for midgets.

  • Toyota IQ they let Aston Martin restyle it now is £20,000 more than the IQ. Wow

  • yes same experience...while you are just sitting in there, start it and everything is gone -.-

  • If you see a Lamborghini Aventador (for example) you can describe it with one word - Speechless.

Here we have the same situation...still one word - Pointless!

    Shame on you AM

  • @TheMystrafanx The Cygnet is one brave gamble for Aston. In theory it did'nt seem bad. But this Aston Martin makes almost no sense whatsoever. Rather than build thier own car they instead glued the Aston Martin badge to a Toyota Aygo, which in itself was a decent car. (they probably shoud have given this car a Lexus Badge, not Aston Martin's beloved badge!!!) The car is pointless!!!

  • @TheMystrafanx In addition, this is fairly the same as Rolls royce putting thier badge on a Yugo. The Cygnet would have been a great car, if it had not tried to be an Aston Martin...

  • its a toyota IQ

  • Comment removed

  • the engine on the 2011-present Aston Martin Cygnet

    Engine

    1.3 L petrol I4

  • Any resemblance with a real AM is pure coincidental.

  • a car for when James Bond got bankrupt

  • this is the damn EU's fault with their stupid emissions law to be enforced soon, forcing Aston to make a heap like this!

  • a toyota

  • James bond's new car.

  • Comment removed

  • @MrMe1280 Don't write bullshit, it is not based on the smart f2 ! It's a Toyota IQ with diferent badges!

  • @dustz33 yes you are correct. i was set straight by the ever helpful topgear. sorry i don't research much on shitty lil cars i would never buy so i took the first info i got and by looking at the car it made since.

  • @MrMe1280 Amen and all hail Jeremy Clarkson.

  • omg this thing is so fuckin ugly, i hate small cars!!!

  • Funny how they didn't show the car completely...

It was like here's a mold, here's the Aston Martin insignia, here's the bonnet, here's the windshield... oh and the finally, here's what it looks like in front view...

SHOW US HOW HIDEOUS IT REALLY IS FOR BLOODY SAKE!!!

  • Saying Toyota sucks is like saying Aston Martin sucks: Everyone will laugh at you.

  • It looks like Aston Martin DB9 and Smart had a child.

  • @Herrasmiesvaras and it didn't get enough oxygen during delivery...

  • It's a freakin' Toyota iQ with an Aston grill

  • @IanEduardoMeneses and the tailights are different

  • Smart ForTwo + AM DB9 = THIS!

  • is fucking shit this car. a copy of smart and others. the prize is horrendous. fuck this car and aston martin and the brits!

  • 7 people don't have enough money to buy the Cygnet

LOVE THIS CAR I DON'T CARE YOUR NEGATIVE PERSPECTIVE !!!

  • why not just buy a smart car for every day use and buy a DB9 for the weekends?????

  • loved the video until they actually showed the car :S

  • i think they wont lose ther exclusivity so much the people who will buy this care will buy it for the label and not for the car as it is a toyota iq with an aston on it . the type of people who will buy it are the glamour and young prefetinal people who would love to be a ferrari but instead go for a bmw or land rover or cheaper mercades or porche boxers so instead they might go fo this car . i think it would do way way better if it looked more like the mini than the toyata iq and would appl mo

  • Wow, the crappiest Aston Martin ever!! This is a Toyota iQ, engine and all with aston martin interior. Get a real Aston Martin like a DB9 or make one thats not a Toyota!!

  • @JonElevator Are you calling 'Toyota' crap? You don't know much about cars, right? Well, no necessary to waste time with you.

CONGRATULATIONS ASTON MARTIN, YOU GOT THE BEST PARTNER!

  • @bstcars Are you kidding, I have 2 family generations working in the auto industry, so I do know about cars a lot from experience. All I'm saying here is that the gap between Toyota and Aston Martin is so great that it makes the car seem worthless, even if it was made by a company I like, such as Nissan, I would be dissappointed. Besides I know so many people that had issues with Toyota ranging from the engine malfunctioning to issues with the service dept.

  • @bstcars (cont) The worst part is Toyota not admitting their fault with the recalls, on almost every model no less!! We also lose our economy to them, they may have made in USA models but that money goes to Japan as well. Also look at the comments that say the same thing that I am. Not to point fingers but I have feeling that when a US company gets recallls, you blast them about it. You probably have also said that Lincolns are just Fords when platform sharing is used in every luxury division.

  • @bstcars And BTW, if Toyota is so "good", why are Camry sales at a record low since 1995 and Fusion and Malibu sales up?

  • @JonElevator I'm not so sure if you are able to understand how the market works but no necessary to talk about the anti-Toyota movie made by the American government to "save" Chrysler and GM last year, right? Don't make a relation between 'sales' and 'quality' if you want to pretend (at least) to know what you are talking about. The best thing is, Toyota US is not just more American than Ford and GM but also better (I hope you don't even doubt it). Keep believing on TV

  • @JonElevator Anyway, I don't think I need to waste time on you since you even called 'Toyota' crappy. Do you know what's a car or you are just fanboy? Don't write nonsense. Calling Toyota 'crappy car' is showing a huge leak of knowledge. Don't be so ignorant, please.

  • @bstcars How are you wasting time with me, you replied to my comment first. Like I said, 2 generations working with autos I just happen to not like Toyota, due to those pesky recalls, which seem to never end and the fact that they try to hide it from th media, thats selfish of them. I know every company gets recalls, but almost 1 million, wow. The sales are a record low, and the multiple sources proved that. I know plenty of people that had issues with Toyota, engine stalls, rattles etc.

  • @bstcars And also, I didnt know a video existed by the US govt, so I cant relate to that. Bottom line is that I just dont like Toyota, and you'll have to accept that, Like I said, I know so many people that hate their Toyotas and had issues with them. I've had almost every American brand over the years and had no issues at all. The big 3 have sales increases while Toyota lags behind and its prob b/c of recalls. Dont try to turn me into a Toyota fanboy, because you will fail miserably.

  • @JonElevator What do you mean with 'recalls'? The invention created by the American Government and GM to damage the Toyota's reputation? That was already discovered (you probably know it and you can't accept it). Man, be realistic and try to focus on our reality, not just your dreams and movies. I suggest you to not see so much TV, they brainwash you and you don't even get it.

  • It looks a lot like a Toyota iQ

  • I've been pondering why Aston would ever make such as stupid mistake. The only reason I can think of is that these guys have gone all Marxist on us.

  • @nottinghamization They've been more less forced to bring this out so they comply with the EU emissions standard, it's a new ridiculous pointless law that caused this, all manufacturers (YES including exotic manufacturers) have to offer there customers a of choice of something with low emissions, as if Aston Martin would do this out of true choice, it's a pathetic law because if someone doesn't want a thirsty car then the biggest likely hood is that they won't even bother looking at an Aston lol

  • i saw one in france

  • no fucking way , imagine seeing a ferrari that looks like a yaris

  • No matter what anybody says, I absolutely love this car. I prefer having this one rather than a iQ or a Smart, this one for the week, and a Range Rover hybrid for the weekend. : )

  • The only classy thing in that video was the German guy's suit.

  • @Samhain35 and the rolex hes wearing lol

  • I hope there will be a kit avalible for the Toyota IQ so you can build a very cheap Aston Martin Cygnet. LMAO.

  • LET'S BE REAL...The Cygnet is the result of new European legislation that fines automakers whose cars (on average) have high emissions. Top Gear said that Aston intended to give bicycles away with every new car, but I bet that loophole closed. Hence, the Cygnet. Tragic brand dilution due to legislation. :(

The European Commission delineates the specific policy on their website under Climate Action>Policies>Transport>Road Transport>CO2 from Cars. Thumbs up for research and understanding!!

  • the cygnet is uglier than a sack of assholes :D it looks like a little rascal strives to be a big masculine car. but actually it rather looks like he works hard at having a crap xD

  • Image driving a Bugatti Smart car...lol

  • EPIC FAIL!

  • Imagine in the future, there will be lamborghini smart cars or maybe other supercar brand names?

  • The marketing department at Aston Martin is genius!!!

Soon, this will be the vehicle of choice amongst the famous celebrities to replace their stupid Prius! Then, when they get invited to the talk shows, they can give the excuse of gas mileage and co2 emissions and all that, but at least they will be driving an ASTON MARTIN surrounded by leather and wood, instead of the cheap plastic and cloth of the Prius.

Really, this car is gonna be a success to Aston Martin, mark my words ;)

  • REALLY EXPENSIVE SMART CAR!

  • This cars only sold to owners of the existing Aston Martins...

  • WTF IS THAT...????????

  • where aston martin is going?

  • is the car any kind of tuned? if not the point with aston martin gone!! they are and should be fast cars

  • @Autofilkis Mechanically the Aston Martin Cygnet is standard Toyota IQ - all the changes are purely cosmetic. And it's all because of yet more stupid laws from that bunch of boring, overpaid, interfering arseholes in Brussels. Sodding EU...

  • people who says this car is ugly must be driving a Toyota iQ

  • APPLE STYLE.....COMMERCIAL?....JUST SAYING

  • You can only buy this car if you already own a "real" aston martin. So it's still exclusive

  • @maxfactor9

That's not true: sales are not restricted...too bad :-/

  • the worst way to spend 30.000 pounds!

  • The next james bond car

  • aston won't loose its exclusivity. Cygnet will only be sold to existing aston customers

  • @emishore Yeah, to begin with, but then it will be realised to the public to buy after a couple months, maybe a year.

  • when they decided to make a small car why didnt they design their own instead of sticking an aston badge on an iq and doubling the price?

  • Looks pretty nice. Better than the Smart/Brabus ones. But this won't sell at all. Consumers who are opting for these environmentally friendly city cars are looking for an overall cheap option not a premium priced mini luxury option. If they want luxury they will get it from a full-size luxury manufacturer not a city car with illusions of becoming a luxury sedan. What's next? a full-size SUV that will cost more than a jumbo mortgage loan ?

  • I like that even Aston Martin is making an enviromental friendly car. keep on the good work!!

  • don’t mourn, its because of Euro VI legislation.

you can’t blame Aston Martin mate...

  • This car does not deserve that badge. They could have atleast made a 4cyl version of a vantage i mean seriously or maybe even a diesel (efficient and can be fun).

  • Comment removed

  • @markitube94 They wouldn't be a brand if they didn't come out with this (CAFE laws)

  • @markitube94 They WERE your favourite brand.. learn to spell

  • Comment removed

  • @Rayportugal YOu do know they didnt want to make it right? <,< .... they have to make it thanks to new emission laws D: ...they have to have less emissions and the only way to balance it is to make a small car <,< ...sooo thats why the cygnet was created x3

  • @a01087483 Thanks I didn't knew that ;) so what about the other sports car manufacturers like ferrari? Should we expect cars like this from them too?

  • @a01087483 Under the new law...I guess o. o,altho who knows o. o the last ferraris have been praised for consuming less gasoline than before so who knows maybe with cars like the california they sort of meet the standards? <,<

Besides they do have that modified Fiat 500 that they give to customers so mayyybe thats their cygnet? o. o...altho to be honest... that 500 they modified is soo cool <3 ...not like the cygnet :3 , the cygnet is pretty but it has an aston martin xD thats not right o. o

  • @Rayportugalthey gonna produce 4000 each year and it costs 30000 pound AND 99bhp nobody is goiong to propely buy it

  • @patko1610 LoL so its s Smart but cost's like a second hand DB9

  • @Rayportugal not quite. they will only build four thousand Cygnets a year (by comparison, I believe they produce three thousand V8Vs per year). Also, I'm not sure whether they've reached a final decision yet, but they might only sell them to current owners. Lastly, with a price tag of $45 000- 75 000, only people who are already wealthy will be able to pay that for a city car.

  • @Rayportugal bullshit! you need to own an Aston to buy it :D

  • @Rayportugal

Mah boi that ain't true, this thing is still way too expensive for most people to afford it. It isn't like what the Porsche brand did with the 924, this is different.

  • @Rayportugal not really,

its still 40,000, out of reach of normal people, and who would buy this toyota for that price?, only rich people will

  • @Rayportugal well they start at around £30,000 and they are limited in production so its not too bad

  • @Rayportugal it won't, this is $50,000 US. I doubt if anyone is going to buy it lol.

  • @Rayportugal dont worry you can only buy this car if you already own an astin martin

  • @Rayportugal with 60000 eyro I don't think so...

  • 60000 EYRO FOR THIS CRAP? FUCK U! I'LL GO BUY A TTS

  • @Rayportugal False. They are 50k and you can only own one if you currently own an Aston Martin. Stupid move for the company.

  • Comment removed

  • @Rayportugal it costs 60.000 euros man ... how will you see it everywhere?

  • @Rayportugal not really cus it costs £43000 unless smart people will buy a Toyota iq and change the body panels

  • @Rayportugal omg

  • I'm soo digging this! all the feel-good and non-creakynees of a high end car with the size and efficiency i want. of course i expect the engine to be moddded by aston martin for higher output, read some kind of multiair valvetrain, turbo and direct injection, and the suspension and brakes be upgraded. i can really see myself in one of theese

  • an aston martin citycar that has the same power as a normal citycar no no no no no no this doesnt sound right.

  • This was a surprise, but I'd rather see Aston Martin adapting to the marketplace rather than fading away. Hopefully this will be profitable, and help fund the exotics.

  • @Roadsterscom it was forced on them its not a financial decision.
