  • My Australian Shepard is pure evil lol i love him but he hates everyone hes so spoilt but hes getting so bad he wont even listen to my dad anymore and he dont like being touched hes like a wolf lol he growls at everyone .. help?!

  • We have shaved our Aussie for years now. We purchased high end clippers and cut him 3/4 inch short every spring to help with the heat of summer. His coat grows back to its original beautiful thickness every year.

  • OMG I love Aussies but I musn't have one :(

  • @akirayato border collies are known as smarter dogs.

  • which is smarter australian sheperd or border collie?

  • @akirayato for me a shepherd is smarter they are going to test your limits and if your not careful they take over

a border collie is a soldier always want to work always does what he is told

  • @akirayato Depends on the dog, I have seen some pretty stupid border collies before, but then again I have seen some amazing ones. The Same goes for Australian Shepherds. They are both known for being very, very smart dogs.

  • I need help with my aussie :S He keeps biting everyone in my house.

  • I love my Aussie "EMO" She has been so easy to train, and unbelievably smart. She can even open the front door with a thumb lever and let herself in and out. She is not a handful in the apt ether, i think most people that have issues with restlessness just don't take them outside enough. Hand a leash by the door and they will put the two together in a day or so, and from then on they will just go touch it and tell ya, hey i want to go do something. That easy. GET AN AUSSIE

  • I agree with Stubtaildogs2, my 2 Aussie's love to be outside but they also LOVE to be inside "with their humans". If they had their choice, (and they do) they'd be wherever I am. MSLarissa724 probably lives in the country. Rural type people have similiar thinking.

  • My aussie pup Lila is soooo stubborn and untrustable. Also, she doesnt really like treats, so I can hardly train her. How should I teach her to be good and do agility?

  • The wife and I have an Aussie that also has Lab and Husky in her, she is 3yrs old, and as of now, she still doesn't like to heal with the leash, is the the introduction of the lab and husky that makes her this way?

  • i just found a aussie a few days ago he was a stray he is really pretty i named him scampy my parents dont know about him yet

  • mine is 12 weeks old and lazy hates to go out side

  • @bilpayne Take a visit to the vet! Diet can also heavily effect any dog but my mother bred over three generations when I was growing up and it seems to effect Aussies pretty hard as well. (I could be completely wrong here because I'm not an expert and only know through experience but..) Males are generally more relaxed from what I've seen, and tend to have greater health issues. Females have the least health issues and are usually more energetic.

Still, food is a large issue to check up on.

  • @Vilemk0 he out grew the lazy as soon as the weather cooled down thanks anyway

  • @bilpayne Oh yeah, we shaved our Aussies when the summer came around. Short cut for the heat does wonders.. Must be hell with those thick coats they have.

  • @Vilemk0 I've been told NOT to shave an Aussie....how has that worked for you guys because I would LOVE to shave my two beasts in the summer!

  • @spd2549 Huh, I don't see why you wouldn't. If I remember correctly- I was told that some long haired dogs tend to have heart problems? (Not sure if that's accurate or completely true.) Honestly it's just a weather decision in the long run. Is it really hot during the summer where you live? Obviously you shouldn't buzz them to the skin but giving them a very short cut helps them out.

  • @MsLarissa724 do not shame someone without knowing THEIR DOG. I have an Aussie that stays inside whenever I am home, which is a good portion of the day. He is one of the most laid back, relaxed dogs I have ever met and Ive been around quite a few. As a matter of fact I am having to work at building drive in him, hes always been this way. He is very healthy and fed a good diet. Dont lump all Aussies in one catagory for u dont know them all. Thank u

  • They are inside dogs, but require LOTS of outdoor activity and exercise. Shedding could be diet, temps, lack of grooming....Good Luck

  • I love these breed, I have two and I will most likely have more of these breed. If someone in interested I have films whit the dog training here on my YouTube site.

  • MyWittlePuppy, are you feeding him on a schedule? Taking him out about 30 minutes after he eats? as soon a he wakes up from naps? If he is hiding from you to toilet in the house... are you yelling at him and telling him bad dog? That never never works! You have to get him on a regular schedule and do the work. You will see how fast he improves. Remember its not his fault.... its yours!

  • My Aussie is very smart. In fact he did my taxes and got a refund. Four boxes of dog bones a chew toy.

  • LOL cracked me up!

  • mine is very lazy, and likes to sleep.. she also barks at the mailman, UPS, and Fedex guys.. but she doesn't bark at the garbage truck.

do ur australian shepherds shed a lot? because mine does

  • My aussie sheds a lot and it's all year long. I think it's from stress though because we keep him inside all year round...

  • @EinaudiRulez Are you kidding me, your talking about an australian shepherd. you should never, ever keep an aussie inside for more then a few hors they are way to energetic for that...shame on you

  • @MsLarissa724 Well we have a fenced in backyard tht he runs around & plays in alo.t He just doesn't like to stay out there all day or at night so we allways bring back in when he starts to stand at the frech doors & whine because he's tired of staying out or thirsty or sometimes he just doesn't want to stay outside. So tht's why we keep him inside most of the time

  • A lazy Aussie???? dang I have never seen that before!

  • My aussie doesn't have the herding instinct for some reason!! Shes love to run, but she won't chase anything really! She sure is a smart lady!!! I love her! :)

  • We found our Aussie on the side of the highway when she was really young - now about a year later she is the best dog we could have ever asked for! With minimal training she knows all the basic commands, and is amazing around our newborn son. She is afraid of a lot of things too though; roads, things that make loud noises, yelling. But overall she is just amazing, and our next dog will most definitely be an Aussie!

  • @qwnbree I have heard that Aussie's as a breed tend to be very timid dogs. My girl is quite timid, but I find the more I am able to expose her to things that frighten her (buses, loud noises) the better she reacts in those situations in the future!

  • our puppy runs away randomly and goes potty in our house and he dosnt listen well

  • Poor dog you must be doing everything wrong...

  • lol

  • I have two Australian Shepherds they are very smart but they beg us for food when we're eating they jump 2 feet so far.

  • I hear ya there, myne is the same. Super sweet, but intimidates everyone passt us.

  • my aussie is very controlable he dosnt leave my side and i dont need to use a leash and he loves everyone

  • same here... never use a leash

  • I have a one year old aussie he runs after everything

  • yea my dog is pretty aggressive as well.

she doesnt allow men or little children in the house. its a pain.

  • my aussie is 14 weeks old .. loves to herd my 3 yearold .. Also I can't break the chewing on us ;)

  • My Aussie of 10wks already knows the basic commands. Very smart dogs but need total dedication to train! Not a dog for everyone, especially city-dwellers.

  • why don't you think it's train able

  • I agree Australian Shepherd are EXTREMELY smart! They catch on withen seconds and are sooo willing to please.. I love my aussie<3
