Well, two people rolled a big snowball into a river. It was their fault for making the iceberg and make the Titanic sink. Or they just did that on accident. O_o!
when it went down people started a rumor that the titanic was a murder! ismay owner of the white star line went to trial for his inncompinants with the life boats. He was proven innissent but may family still blamed him for decades to come.
same here. and many more lives could have been saved had it not been for confusion in command. Captain Smith ordered women and children first, but it was interpreted in different ways. on one side of the ship, it was interpreted as women and children ONLY, on the other, women and children first, but if none are around, men could board as well. and there was also the refusal of the lifeboats to go back and rescue the survivers. if these events were different, more could have been saved.
the saddest thing is that everyone could have been safe. a lifeboat could fit 70 people on a lifeboat safely in harsh weather, but with calm weather 1000 could fit. so 100 times 20 is 2000. plus they had 6 extra collapsibles. each collapsible could have held a good 40-50 people. giving just enough room for everyone, the dogs and the ship's rats. however, the crew were inexperienced and 4 lifeboats and the collapsibles went down as well.
Everyone could have been saved had the ship had more then 20 lifeboats, Ismay is rumored to have wanted the four collapsibles removed, which would have left Titanic with only enough space for about 700, since she was actually over the limit the laws said were necessary. Titanic was also underbooked for the maiden voyage, she was designed to carry 3,574 Passengers and Crew, and had she departed fully loaded the death toll would have been catastrophic
i meant 100 on a regular lifeboat in calm weather. but i am sure you must know what i am trying to say. however, most passengers were certain that this boat was invincible. some of them were seen getting on a lifeboat, and going to bed, and then waking up with water around them. by this point it was too late.
Theb officers off the titanic did an excellent job during the sinking of the RMS Titanic. They kept the passnegers from a panic strike and got people into the lifeboat nice and easy unlike the lusitania which a panic did strike the passengers. Still sad that not 1 soul did not get to experience a completed trip on one of the Largest and most luxirous Ocean Liners in the world. Rest In Peace R.M.S Titanic and the 1500 Souls that went down on that tradgic night.
Sorry to be an ass here but you can't compair lusitania, a ship that went down i 18 minutes to the titanic which went down in over 3 hours in terms of how they handled getting people on the life boats, lusitania was torpedoed of coures they paniced and yes they did keep the panic down on titanic but if they had done it right more lives could have been saved as some lifeboats had as little 20 people on them when they had a limit of 50 people and where safety tested with 60 men. Good video too.
true but many of these pictures are of Olympic because Titanic wasnt not in service that long. dont get me wrong there are photos of Titanic but many of these depict Olympic. they looked very much the same so many pictures of Olympic are substituted for the lack of photos of Titanic
yes but she will not always be down there. experts are saying at this rate of decay, she will be gone in 10-15 years. it's sad and unbeliveable but someday the Unsinkable Titanic will be just a big orange stain on the bottom of the ocean. and there is no saving her. she cannot be raised. she cannot be structurely supported. its too late. all we can do is wait until she finally collapses.
personally i think this is how the titanic would want it. when she is gone, people will remember the ship for what she was rather than some seaweed stained piece of iron at the bottom of the ocean. the ship can vanish and go away with dignity. just as the captain of the Mauritania refused to be on her when she was being torn down because he'd rather have seen the ship go down and still be remembered.
hey im a Titanic enthusiast i can tell you Titanic is my primary but i have a spiritual connection to her. if you put me in water and shut off the lights i tell you i react like those poor 1523 souls did some 97 years ago. RIP Titanic 1912
in the vid you sey that there were 2,208 but in the description it's 2,223. Why the difference? Anyway, this is a lovely video and I don't think you could find a better song
The reason is because nobody knows how many were on the titanic. it is a rough estimate, because personal ID wasn't required until 1916 during the First World War.

The ice berg showed Titanic's mortality, but at the same time, immortalized her.
