if you download the app and you click and get the message NETWORK IS UNAVAILABLE its because VIRGIN MOBILE blocked it since it violates their terms and condtions!! this only affects the new optimus v 2.2.2! if you have 2.2."1" then you can hotspot but be careful because if virgin mobile detects that your hotspot-ing they can terminate your service/account if your really want to hotspot then ROOT THE DEVICE!

this does not work with my lg optimus v. When I turn it on, my 3g notification symbol goes away and then a window saying network unavailable pops up. the widget turns off by itself, then the 3g symbol comes back. Someone Help!

You *do* need root to use hotspot on the Samsung Intercept. If you want to use Hotspot without root then you'll need to purchase the ability to do so from Virgin Mobile using their Mifi device.

You gotta be careful though. If VM finds out you're using tethering, they could possibly take away your data, because it violates their Terms of Service.

The hotspot does indeed work, VM just doesn't offer tethering.

So, use at your own risk.
