  • The decreased level of ceruloplasmin for wilson's disease is due to a point mutation on ATP7B gene which causes a misshapen ATP7B ase protein. When in the blood copper is bound to albumin which then binds to a hepatocyte. ATOX1 transfers the copper to ATP7Base where it is either bound to ceruloplasmin to be maintained in the body, or the protein moves to the to the to secrete the copper into the bile where it can be excreted.

  • "are usually kindda CRAZY?" ...what incompetent and insensitive language! care to read a medical dictionary for better and logical choice of words!

  • How rude! patients go "kindda CRAZY"? medical dictionary is full of better descriptive and logical .

  • Gluzin is my zinc of choice!

  • My cousin was diagnosed with WD 5 yrs ago. He has been aggressive on WD treatments from early rollercoaster copper chleations to being finally stable with Zinc only. He was on Galzin for 3 yrs, but it gave him nausea & vomiting. He had switched to Gluzin/Zinc Gluconate 6 months ago, and is doing well with no more upset GI. I have been taking Gluzin as a precaution, since WD possibilities are high. Gluzin is the recommended generic Zinc OTC by the WDA.

  • Can Wilsons disease be acquired?

  • Hmmm. i've been reading in several professional medical books that only one type of Wilson's Disease affects the mental health (or craziness)--one just affects the liver itself --the other the nervous system. This doctor is a bit haughty. I know someone with Wilson's disease--and they are as sane as I am.

  • Would have liked to see the EM findings of Wilson, and maybe some copper staining! Otherwise, great mini-video, as usual.

  • I love that you said that we people with Wilson's tend to be kind of crazy. It's absolutely true, in a way. Although I haven't really presented with any 'crazy' signs or symptoms... if you give me LSD or Psylocibin cubenesis- look out. I tend to lose a moderate deal of autonomic control over vital functions, accompanied by extremely vivid out-of-body experiences.

  • do you have a feeling of loss of facial muscle control? Especially after something like orgasm? I look really high sometimes, and normally i look fine.

  • Thank you so much for posting this video :) I found out roughly one year ago that I have Wilson's Disease, and there information is a bit scarce. Every little bit helps.
