Seen'em open for Ted Nugent in '77 (I think) (ticket price $7.50).....needless to say I was in the record store the next day lookin' for this album. BTW....I think they blew Uncle Ted out that nite. Thanks for posting!!

Not trying to put a damper on anything but, I'm sure these guys might sound better live because I didn't hear anything spectacular on this studio cut. They kind of sound like a really good garage band but nothing more for me. Sorry..
@superscott48 If you were from texas,NOBODY forgets about the GOOD ole r-n-r, so go back.......or pronounce it M.F.!!!!! YEAH, I'M FROM SAN ANTO PURO !!!!! rock on Joe Anthony Cj S.A. TX. :D P.S. I am LINSCOTT!!!
I agree. I have listened to this 1,000,000 times. My all time top 10. They must of had the worst manager in the world. Saw them live in 77. The Hellcats album had a couple of cool tracks. This rocks front to back. So Young that I love may be the worst track.
Man...this brings back memories...I'd never heard of STARZ...seen them in 77' as the warmup for Ted Nugent. And, as big a Ted fan as I am...These guys blew his doors off that night. I think it's the only album I ever bought the immediately after hearing. Soon followed by buying "VIOLATION" and "ATTENTION SHOPPERS".
@apotter63 pioneer super tuner II with jensen 6905's, 30 yrs and my ears are still ringing, lol, the most spoken word in my car in high school...what?
Oh hell yeah! What a great flashback. I used to love cruisin around roastin and listening to this on 8 track. It sure brings back some great memories. One of the greats from back in the day. They should have been bigger fame wise but they were big to me so I guess that's what matters. Thanx for posting this song.
Great song, I sometimes wonder how big Starz would've been if they've done this album after Violation, I wasn't too crazy for the Attention Shoppers album but really liked their first two albums a lot
@patlavert They are stil around my friend. Starz is playing in Pennsylvania in October and Cleveland Ohio (Beachland Ballroom) on October 2nd. They still kick ASS. Some of the nicest guys in the music biz.
Loved this album my LP's trashed but can't throw it way for whatever reason, haha. What happened after this killer debut album that made them drop off the radar so quickly? Drugs? Creative "differences?" Seriously I'd like to know. This was Arena Rock at its finest in the late 70's early 80's. I guess I'd describe "arena rock" as like Boston, Kansas, etc...
@TheJordanProductions I don't know?! I've been looking for tabs for Starz as well, so if you find anything, hit me up lol... If not I'll try to tab it out myself
Starz definitely should've been in the same league as Aerosmith, KISS & Ted Nugent, these guys absolutely rocked and deserved much greater success than what they've gotten
@Doobie1975 Its funny, they opened up for all of those guys. Saw them when they opened for Kiss and Nugent. They blew them away live. That's how I got hooked on them. :)
Joe Anthony did know good music. But ... I met him at Sound warehouse one time when Scorpians were signing autographs and Joe was a straight up dick. Rock On!
I think Starz will be forever associated with this song. Many people may recall this song but nothing else Starz did. They were never a household name. It may be that they didn't get as much airplay as the Scorpions, Judas Priest, Rush, et al. It seems that even fellow lesser-known artists such as Budgie, Legs Diamond and Riot got more recognition than Starz.
@PorkyDorky Unfortunately I have to disagree, their highest charting hit was "Cherry Baby" off the Violation lp some 2 1/2 years prior to this being released. It is also a much better overall record.
This song reminds me of the old days when all seemed well in rock radio land. San Antonio then had local legendary DJ Joe Anthony on KMAC-AM/KISS-FM. He broke many artists: Judas Priest, The Scorpions, Rush, Budgie, Moxy, Riot, Axe, Def Leppard, Triumph, Helix, Accept, Saxon, Iron Maiden, Metallica. When the KMAC/KISS owner Howard G. Davis died in August '80 KISS went corporate and has remained so ever since. Sister station KMAC went off the air shortly thereafter.
@PorkyDorky kool kikk assit was what it was &will never again be...so be glad you(I) were a part of rock n roll history.... we had the COOLEST god father of all time...The GODFATHER of Rock-N-Roll THE LATE,GREAT, JOE ANTHONY............Cj :D SA TX

You're right. I blame it on the promoters and their agents. What a great album! If anybody would have heard at the time it would have gone gold
xfxs1 2 years ago
You're right, and "rock radio" sucked back then, I lived in LA, and they always played the same 5-10 bands and 25-50 songs over and over and over. lol
There were a lot of Great bands from the 70's, 80's, that no one got to hear.
That one of the good things of things like YouTube, where a lot of "new" people can hear great old stuff.
