Even as a long-time Lawler fan, living in the CWA territory, this was a screw-job of epic proportions. Von Erich is alert, walking around in disbelief of being disqualified, and Lawler, out cold laying in the middle of the ring, doesn't even know he's the champion until he "wakes" up. Awesome angle, but still, I agree with Mp25DIII, this was the best resolution for all parties involved? No matter what, WWF owes a HUGH debt of gratitude to this, for it gave them a blueprint for the future.

worst screw job ever! put the Montreal Screw Job to shame. Lawler was practically dead and the ref stops it for bleeding? Von Erich is alert and walking around while Lawler was practically dead on the mat. this still pisses me off as much now as it did when i first saw it live.

@mudball35 Not really it goes down as another "screw job" Montreal Screw job was a little different. Here it just made another match between the two. I have personally seen two "screw jobs" one being between sgt slaughter and bob backlund for the belt slaughter had him but the ref didnt call it 2nd lex luger and ric flair luger had him in the rack at gab 1988 but "the MD State comission" called the match cause luger was bleeding cause he slit himself to much lol
