To make a suggestion if this is going to be indoors. Cut the whole smaller then the tubing for a more "snug" fit, and perhaps use some silicone/acrylic caulking. The ice melts after a while, and having a hole 1 inch off the ground will cause leaking very quickly. especially with the heat from the fog.
We make ours with a plastic cooler. it keeps the cold air in, and has a little spout to drain off water from the melted ice. :D
your voice is cool!!!! great vids, lets be friends on youtube. I do a huge halloween display at my house and we can share ideas and pic, vids I'm 19 turning 20
Doc, my fog machine seems to be blocked, i cleaned it last year and this year it would not work. it heats up i get the green go light but no fog comes out. What do you use to clean your fogger.
@garrie1969 Sorry it's been so long. I've never cleaned it before. My just went out too. Look online for 'how to clean fog machines.' I know there are tutorials!
@garrie1969 I have an 1000 watt fog machine, and to get apart the heating element ( where its usually block) we have to to a 10 ton press... Its rather difficult to unclog
@Shadowmaster939 no i want you to stop replying to 8 month old comments. and all i said was i have the same fogger as dr kreepy. stop being such an asshole troll.
Dry ice works good on it's own, but I don't know if it works with the chiller. Someone said it will. The only prob with dry ice is that it melts fairly quickly due to the sub zero temp you need to freeze it.
im a stage technician so I get to play with dry ice all the time dry ice will last quite some time if properly insulated and in large amounts
we had a 50 pound block that we needed to save for a show in 3 days we wrapped the block in styrofoam (the thin flexible stuff used for shipping) put in it an igloo cooler and wrapped that in moving blankets we probably lost less then 3 pounds
head banger aust cooling the fog juice wont do anything because it will just need to be heated again
also kreepy seal up those holes fill the cooler with ice and put a couple pounds of dry ice on top of the wet ice and seal the top with duct tape the dry ice will keep the ice below it frozen you can buy small amounts from some grocery stores
THIS will be sooo awesome in my yard this year! We're hanging a wig over the top of the roof and dropping it on people's heads! This will add to the spookiness! Thanks for posting!!!!!!!!!
Hey drkreepy1 I have the same fog machine that you have. I don't like the switch either. In the instruction manual on page 2 it says that there is a timer remote is available separately. Just telling you. It might not have said that 7 years ago.
Dry Ice works better, it's MUCH colder, and you can get it at the grocery store. It lasts longer also, and wont melt as quickly. When using a single transit, large diameter pipe like this, colder is better. Great video though, I loved it.
dude!..i tried this over the weekend, and let me tell you this little cheap way works like a fuckin charm. i set up some stones and lights and ran the fog machine...WOW! MY YARD HAUNT IS GONNA BE OFF THE CHAIN THIS YEAR!!!! thanks dr. kreepy...youza haunt pimp!!!!
Nice job explaining how a fog machine works. It was fun to watch. I'd suggest coiling the drier hose inside the container to give the fog more of a chance to get cold and so it doesn't shoot straight thru. You can see evidence of that with the little more expensive $45, 26 gallon trash can chiller called "Fog Chiller Trash Can Style with Bag on Outlet Halloween Yard Haunt How-to" on my Yard Haunt Channel. Best regards and Happy Haunting!
would it work with an irrigation hose instead of a dryer hoze? And if not where can i buy and how much is dryer hoze? And this video is awesome, thanks for sharing this with us, it's really easy to follow.
Hey DR. I am looking to have a creepy cemetary in the yard this year. I plan to use your cooler technique. Do I have to buy a "low lying fogger" or can I buy a regular fogger since I am going to be cooling it anyway. Please let me know - or anyone else who may have the answer.
I love your videos. You sure know how to take a simple task and make it fun. Because you made this tutorial, I would assume that you've seen or tried other methods to fog chilling. Do you think that this method that you showed works better than filling a PVC pipe with ice and putting it over the machines nozzle? Just wondering if you knew. Thanks for this video. Halloween's just around the corner! YEAH! XD
I wouldn't say it gets a better result. The cooler helps to keep the ice longer, that's why I use it. If you use a long pvc pipe with a lot of ice, You might get fog that stays low longer. PVC is definitely a good choice.
man your videos helped me alot but i live in an apt, and i was hoping that we would move out of them before halloween... so now i think i might make the probs but just save them till next year..
I have this problem with my fog machine. It makes an annoyingly loud noise and fog has a hard time coming out. I've had it for a few years now. Do you know of a way to fix that or do I need to buy another one?
I use those same fog machines and it works great to set the button under a flower pot or some thing heavy if you don't want to worry about having to press it yourself.
You're right, sorry 'bout that! It all depends on how long you're gonna use it, but a small bag of ice from the service station would do just fine. I used 5 small ice packs last year.(Like the ones in a luchbox)
For all those that just want to build a chiller use a double Wadsworth.

I need some input Dr. I followed your instructions word for word. Yet I'm not sure I'm using enough Ice or do I need dry ice? Thanks brother.

So if you have one without a timer can you just tape the button down?

i don't get how this works :O

@derrago Heat rises, cold sinks. The fog is usually warm so it rises, chill it and it stays low. :)

Hey doc is it possible to refrigerate the fog liquid till it will hover above the ground on its own?
HeadBangerAust 2 years ago
no because it will be heated up with the hestsink think so it will rise.
also if it goes in cold into the heatsink it will not pump out fog for as long

actually, dry ice does not melt...it sublimates...goes from solid to gas...passing the liquid stage...
but, yes,,, dry ice is much better fog and it is suuuper cheap!!

They sell cheap timers for that exact same fog machine. You can set the duration up to 30 seconds, and the interval up to 120. Works like a charm.
