hahaha overthinking no confidence bad self esteem my situation niggaaaaa
i dont believe in social anxiety or any disorder of some sort of that kind i think its just all in ur head like u just gotta keep facing ur fear cuz fear keep u thinking these negtive thoughts
Again, crazy as - I do EXACTLY the same things. Especially when playing sport! Its interesting to see other people out there with SA a nd how similiar all our thoughts and actions can be.
i do the same thing of replaying events in my head and trying to find what happened. its such a hassle to have this anxiety. in general im a happy person just im scared out of mind.
I can relate to everything you speak of, I really appreciate you posting these videos.
I play soccer twice a week and whilst I enjoy playing I also get really anxious about messing up and letting others down.
Sometimes the anxiety is so high I feel like it's not worth it, other times I actually almost feel normal- I think its the intense exercise that helps lift my mood somewhat.
I hope claire weekes books and mindfulness meditation will help me get over this illness.
Every video you make, i can relate to, so it forces me to write a paragraph, i was very good at baseball, i played it for years, but once i got to high school, i didnt wanna play, i was so anxious that the seniors would hate me or not want me on team, my dad made me try out, i did, and quit the next day, i wanted to play, i was good, but it drove me away
Hey Pat, I really admire you for posting these videos. I know you've heard this so many times, but you are descibing what I go through down to a tee. I've had S.A. for many years now and about two years a go I heard Travis Tritt singing the song "Take It Easy" I think The Eagles originally sang the song and the one line in the song that really struck a cord with me goes something like "Don't let the sound of your own wheels drive you crazy" and I think that's what people with S.A. do.

advice: dont ever think people arent thinking negatively of you in the back of their minds. all the little voices in your head are true. you miss a ball, 9 times out of 10, they are thinking, 'wont have this little shite butterfinger f^cker on my team again.' so catch the ball or dont play at all.

who the hell discusses their SA on a public forum, for all to see, on youtube? whats wrong with you? thats basically like saying "i have aids, fock children in my spare time, and like the taste of fried human fingers" on live television being shown on every channel. its called a therapist. see one.
hey man, good shit with going out and playing frisbee. you're taking the small steps necessary in order to overcome your social phobia! keep up the good work. =)
Manda's third stage does happen. But once in a while you don't crash and burn. "I actually had a really good time playing ultimate frisbee."
Apologizing when you screw up: Yelling "Oh S**t" (or worse) is preferable. Getting flushed: A good sign—shows you're alive. Playing back convos in your head: Nasty. Simple-minded suggestion: When you get home, do something distracting instead of lying down. Pop in a DVD or listen to some Ben Webster or try a new recipe for supper. Sometimes this helps.
Oh man that sounds pretty familiar...except that I had never joined them. I always get extra terrified if there isn't at least one (!!) day between the offer/question and the actual activity. But I know exactly what you mean with discrepancy thing as well as being ashamed about the things you said or didn't say.
That totally makes it easier to have at least a day to like, prepare myself. Although a lot of times it just gives me more time to worry myself sick over it
omg i say ''im sorry'' as well. so much so that my tennis coach was like ''STOP APOLOGISING YOU HAVEN'T DONE ANYTHING WRONG''. so now i don't say sorry :)

Is it that your trying to impress people?
is that why your so concerned with catching the ball and preforming well?
or is it that your looking for acceptance??

Advice: Join the SA community on Youtube and be constructive or get therapy yourself. For most people this IS their therapy.

haha I'm glad to hear from another over-apologizer. I'm probably biased but that sounds like a cool psych project!
