@jerkass411 To be respectful, The Chariot's "Everything Is Alive, Everything Is Breathing, Nothing Is Dead, and Nothing Is Bleeding" is damn close. And you you can't deny that converge has some influences from the genre. BUT, look up Lye By Mistake sir, you will like it I'm sure
Do you write riffs first, or just toss out some odd time sigs and fill them with notes? Do you try to make it anything but 3/4 and 4/4 ? I'm really trying to understand the gist of math metal.
The beauty of writing math metal is that there is a certain flow to it. Even though there are many polyrythyms, rotating and such, the good bands keep the flow going. If you're just throwing in random time sigs for the sake of throwing them in, you'll lose the flow almost instantly.
The basics alternate time signatures are 5/4, 7/8 and 7/4 (which is 7/8 times 2).
The best bands, imo, for mathcare are Protest the Hero, Between the Buried and Me and The Dillenger Escape Plan.
Thanks, I've been a fan of Dream Theater since their early days so Im familar with the craziness in some time sigs, but some of the more modern stuff gives me fits when I try to find the groove in it.
And as a side note, try to get Guitar Pro 5.2. Get it through torrent if you have to, but it's a fantastic program for writing music and you get to experiment. That way you can get GP files through UltimateGuitar com or something and see how the song is constructed.
Yea, its not so much the amps that handle the tuning, thats more based on pickups and what not. But the 5150 is a power head that offers intense amounts of distortion and can still maintain a clarity.
you could prob play for veil of maya lol
