that is not the proper way to make the turn, when U make the bac hand turn this way there is nothing you can do with the puck but loose it, as you can see. While in the turn, the technique is similar but U want to keep your llower hand right against your knee that will give you leverage to control or pass the puck quickly. Turning this way will result in losing the puck more than keep it, especially if under pressure. Watch NHL players when they make this turn. Crosby does it all the time!

Actually from what've figured out, crossing your arms isn't a good way to handle why turning.
