i think that transition work on a fizzy pony can just make the problem worse, like its a tease as the horse just wants to go, but i guess if you dont try you dont know, gotta love a horse with spirit lol :)
@sammysyrett yeah all horses are different, at this stage we were trying to stop her from bolting off as it was on a common and transitions normally calm her down and she listens more, guess she was just super hyper lol
I find it funny when i see cobs in tob thumb bits and strong bits when i ride my ex racer in a snaffle and he rears, takes off and stag jumps, or he used to, he also trampled me and landed on my face, he was reschooled in a snaffle i think strong bits aren't necisary lol also why didn't she just take it for a gallop and tire it out? just curious
@DeathKitty123456 First, All horses are different and there are alot more severe bits that i could have used and strapped her mouth shut, but that wouldnt have worked. In the wrong hands yes, the tom thumb bit is severe, only if the handler rides rough, I on the other have and my new loaner (not this girl) have soft hands, so its not severe on her as we only use the shank rings when riding out.
@DeathKitty123456 Secondly, my pony would get exited and put her head down and steam off when out galloping, as younger children such as a 12 year old ride her, this is not very ideal. so i used thi combined with the sweet copper rollers my pony gladly opens her mouth each time for the bit, she also is able to stop and we do not have to pull at all. Also, galloping her on the common to tire her out isnt ideal, we were working on the pony listening to her and not wanting to gallop off.
Bless my friends horse does the exact same :L, is it just me or did you notice she only started to buck as soon as the rider kicked her on?, next time maybe your mate should just use her voice? i know you didn't ask for any advice or anything but just thought i would mention it :)
@iammadaboutdogs hey no problem thanks for your advice :) some people say 'advice' in a horrible way too lol if only everyone suggested like you lol :)
it doesnt matter anymore as she doesnt loan my pony anymore lol
Very good use of transitions ! I have to do this with my horse when she isn't paying attention/is misbehaving. It's so much better then someone yanking on the poor horses mouth to stop. You have a very nice seat and you handled and rode that very well. Nice job (:
@Vanderpost97 im glad someone agrees, this person just said why you using a tom thumb on a cob and you shoukd have galloped it to tire it out... umm i dont know but maybe the rider didnt want to go off galloping? haha anyway yeah normally youve just gotta give her some transitions and let her do her own hing and calm down lol
@ilovesparkyboy haha i know the rider did have a habit of having her heels up lol! i think she was just concentrating on holding her back at this point lol!
@horsrider4ever OK YOU KNOW WAT!!! I AM TALKING ABOUT THAT DAMN HORSE!!! KK SO STOP BEING A BITCH TO ME!! GOT I AM SCARED OF YOU! U WHO IS RIDING IS NOT FAT THE GOD DAMN PONY IS SO STFU! AND LEAVE ME ALONE!!
@iluvmywb The pony or 'DAMN HORSE' as you refer my lovely pony to... is a 13.3hh cob x, its the middle of winter so she is fluffy and her build makes her compact and she is stocky, so i suggest you stop answering back which causes more answers and arguements, they said that you should not say anything if you havnt got a nice thing to say. So your outburst was not necissary.
I love my pony to bits and i do not put videos on here for her to be insulted or damned. thank you.
@PrettyFlyForARicePie uh look up Gypsy Vanner it's a draft horse. Most people don't know about them but if you type in Gypsy Vanner you can find them and yes there is a horse called Gypsy Vanner
@PrettyFlyForARicePie I suggest telling that to someone who breeds gypsy vanners mate, you are VERY uneducated! I work at a gypsy vanner stud ranch in texas and for half my life i spent it in england working with irish gypsy's dealing gypsy vanners.
Eh I'm Irish - lived in ireland all my life and have been involved with horses since I could walk. Trust me you're being taken in by a fad.
Those hairy cobs are being given away at the moment, I can point you to at least 5 who are 'free to a good home' why, because no one wants them. I might take all 5 and sell them to you for $7000 each what do you think. I'm not the one who is very uneducated, love.
@PrettyFlyForARicePie It depends on the breeding, something that goes back to a horse like Lion King, Gypsy King, The White Horse Of Kilburn, The White Faced Horse, Lloyds, The Boss, the are VANNERS, normal irish tinkers/cobs aren't gypsy vanners it is all down to breeding. A welsh cob can't be a proper welsh cob without papers and will get no where without bloodlines, same with a vanner.
All of those horses are imports from the UK/Ireland (Europe) where they go for nothing, I have heard of many, where most would be lucky to sell a 100euro covering. You cannot create a new breed just to say you have something 'special'. We have pleanty of hair cob shows here, horses that you americans would drool over, they're still hairy cobs. Over here bloodlines are nothing unless breed specific registry. We have no vanner regestriy because the breed does not exist.
hah, hah. I'm english clever clogs. I work with the breeders of those horses, and they certainly don't go for nothing, these horses are worth thousands in england, ireland, scotland, wales and all over the world! We recently sold a stallion to Scotland for a hell of alot of money, no americans there. You are just in denial of a breed, it's like saying a pony of the americas doesn't exist or that a palomino can't be a breed, it if has unique traits/colours/markings/features it can be a breed.
Shot yourself in the foot a bit, says earlier you're working in a yard in texas? Point me to one of those horses going for thousands in Ireland and I'll concede defeat. I have an ad for a foal out of 'The boss' guess how much he's going for here? 500euro. They are not going for thousands here. What is popular here are sport horses, oh but you'd know that too. I can pull many other examples of hairy cobs not going for thousands, prove me wrong.
@PrettyFlyForARicePie Just because I work in America doesn't mean I'm American so no shooting anywhere actually. You guys use euros? Weird, but if people don't want that type of horse people won't pay for it. Here showjumpers go for Tens of thousands, as do childs ponies, but in America child's ponies get given away as no one wants them. It's all down to the market, nothing to do with a breed. Modern riders don't like hairy cobs they like pretty warmblood types. Kinda obvious that
How is using euros weird? And how has that got anything to do with this? I agree people won't buy something if they're not looking for it, just proving a point that these big bloodlines are not valuable here. Their is a slaughter house in Leinster outside of sallins 10mins from me, what mostly goes through it? Hairy cobs and ex racehorses. It's sad and a horrible fate for any horse, but the market has no demand for them. I personally love cobs, I just don't like glamourisation
@PrettyFlyForARicePie Just weird to me as I hate euros, nothing to do with it just surprised that ireland uses them. It's like saying th QH's aren't a breed because they get basically given away in america and most are dirt cheap as there are so many. But yet you get some that go for thousands and thousands as they have the bloodlines to die for. In poland mostly polish horses go to slaughter, in france mostly french and english TBs go to slaughter, doesn't mean they aren't a breed.
Well I havn't heard sight nor tail of these expensive horses. They are common out west as they can withstand the cold and such, but to sell those horses for so much is a rarity, I know of people who keep cobs for driving purposes, they would never dream of spending couple thousand on one unless it's an extremely well built stallion who would further their own breeding stock.
@PrettyFlyForARicePie@xXeMokiDXxMCRXx To a gypsy breeder/dealer these horses are worth more than gold, an irish cob won't cut it, has to be a vanner. They are different from irish cobs, gypsy cobs, gypsy horses, gypsy ponies and tinker ponies. If you worked in that sector you would know that, people who don;t work with vanners don't know much about them and just see them as cobs.
@WildStarPro haha she cant be naughty!! no shes not a gypsy vanner, shes a cob x trotter, but because shes all fluffy as its winter then she does look similar lol!!!
@Molleliz Oh I love cobs :) I was laughing at the one person you told me there's no such thing as a Gypsy Vanner -_- idk about people sometimes. Well anyways she's a cutie :)
lol that pony needs a good gallop to get its energy out!!! i would gallop her untill YOU want to stop NOT when SHE wants to :) i had pony like that and it worked :) xox
Lol bless her! Nice to see another cob full of energy! My Gypsy Vanner is exactly the same at the moment and she reared up with me last night all because of a covered barbecue next to the school! She bombed around the school, shyed, napped etc etc! I'm planning on moving to Wales with her one day and can't wait! Those fields look lush to ride in!! Beautiful horse by the way! :)
I wasn't talking about your heritage..I was talking about the riding style...And yes,it is human nature..But even beginners are taught NOT to hold onto the reins when you fall. When I fall,I never hold onto the reins because it can severely hurt a horses mouth. Plus, you can get your hand, foot, neck, head, arm,or whatever caught in them. And if the horse bolted, that could break both your's and the horse's bones,or even kill you. I'm just giving you a helpful hint.
@nateandjenna2011 ive just told you its human nature to cling on! and when it happens its hard to let go, what if the pony had galloped off aswell? theres a 60mph road next to this field..
@nateandjenna2011 Not just english riders. Although the safe choice is to let go, like the owner of this clip said it is natural for ALL humans to cling onto something when possibly falling.
@nateandjenna2011 we are too scared of the horses injuring themselves I'd expect, I only let go if the horse freaks out as then it is safer to let go, but if i am just falling off and gonna get back up again I hold on.
@nateandjenna2011 Bit steriotypical? And anyway, it is called ENGLISH RIDING, so back off? Go do some western, as they all seem to be cowboys (steriotypically)
@faithandhorses haha well the trainer really cant do much! haha shes my pony see and she sometimes listens to me when im on the ground so i though quick make some noise?!?!! lol..... yeahh didnt help did it?;D
ignore the crit!! i completely agreed with everything you said about the bringing her back to walk after doing a bit of trot so that she realises "actually this isn't too bad, i'm just being excitable for no reason" :P ahaha!!!
hope shes ok!! like i say ignore the critters you both seem great :) xx
@TheSpottypony awww thankyou so much! :D haha my pony is just super exitable and just wanted to let off some steam! haha the girl whos riding is loaning sally the pony and they have just started riding then, so i bet sally was testing her out! :L
thankyou for your lovely comment :D haha is my accent really welshy? xxx
@Superrwham i was trying to give advice and the camera was by my face making me sound much louder genius. (Y) and your bossiness is really helping here go give shit to someone else yeah?
Haha! All I can say is, I own two of these! There so much fun and he is a very brave rider!

@nateandjenna2011 we are too scared of the horses injuring themselves I'd expect, I only let go if the horse freaks out as then it is safer to let go, but if i am just falling off and gonna get back up again I hold on.
xXeMokiDXxMCRXx 4 months ago
@nateandjenna2011 Bit steriotypical? And anyway, it is called ENGLISH RIDING, so back off? Go do some western, as they all seem to be cowboys (steriotypically)
