@Zellulose Psh. This game was on 5.25" FLOPPY DISK, bitch. Shit was done in like 15 minutes with that motherfucker. With those blazing fast loading times you only had time to make ONE sandwich.
I remember being absolutely blown away and recording this onto a tape to listen to in my Walkman all the time, SPEECH ON THE C64??!?! it was that good
there was plenty more games that used it.Ermm check out arkanoid / combat school / game over music by Martin Galway... Hubbard did some also , mega apocalypse etc. but JT's one was really cool in this.
I did exactly the same thing ;-D I was so shocked/impressed that I took it a walkman to school with me and listened to it all day on the bus. Crazy wasn't it?

When I heard this song for the first time in the late 80's/early 90's I was really amazed of the quality! It was so far ahead of it's time! It also was one of the first C64 songs I heard using samples like this! ... And I still love it! Thank you Jeroen "freejaytea" for creating this song, and brizzleboi for uploading
i agree, but how can you compare a commodore 64 to (for it's time) such powerfull hardware ? this never can be fairly compared.
and the kuddo's in all these responses go to the music. the music is so far ahead for it's time, and with such small amount of memory so much different samples, and added to it a 3 voice sid chip music tune is a technical feat that i thought never would be possible. the creators have outdone themselves with this one :-)
It's still good, I just prefered the First Outrun on the c64, I thought was even better than the Megadrive version. I haven't heard the Amiga version yet. Some of the Sega tunes that were converted to the c64 were changed from the arcade or Megadrive versions, sometimes for the better.
Agreed. Outrun on the c64 was much more fluid in terms of gameplay compared to turbo outrun, both games were difficult and kept u wanting to play more and more. I liked the fact you could choose where to start on the original outrun with the diffrerent postions which you could load from the tape!
All I can say is awesome. I recently acquired a C64 again and I am having as much fun with it not as years ago. It has always been apparent to me that the engineers who designed the 64 did so with a great passion. Also, many of the programmers were passionate. It really shows in the many wonderful and exciting games that were written for this, one of the greatest gaming platforms of all time.
Ive still got mine! I cant believe its been so long since I had it. It was my present for my 11th birthday. I recently took it down from the loft, for old times sake, but got really frustrated by the looooooooong loading times. Batman the movie was my favourite game and is still BRILLLIANT!! IK+ too.
Yeah, I understand that! Are you loading from Tape or disk? I am using a FSD Excelerator 2 drive with an Epyx Fastload cartridge and usually load times are reasonable. Some programs still take a while though. It all depends on whether the program is transparent to the FastLoad routines or whether the program has its own Fastload if it doesn't work with the cartridge.
I only have the cassette deck. I dont play on it very often anyway, so its okay. Im just glad that after all these years all of my favourite games still work. I never managed to get my hands on any games cartridges and there werent any on Ebay last time I checked-they must really be in demand.
i did not aquirred it, i still have my own old one :-) i will never ever sell it. this is history in optima forma :-P the sound was so far ahead in its time, and the arcade games are so good, i still love playing ghosts 'n goblins, or super cycle. program's like big mouth where groundbraking in giving the c64 speech with the "SPK" command. i still return to this song once in a while to remind me how good the sound really whas/is.
man, the sid chip and c64 was so ahead of it's time. Shame that it started to become unpopular when the games and demos started to really push the limit of the 8 bits, such as mayhem in monsterland, and even lemmings! I love this song.
yeah, i also still have my commodore 64. i still use it once in a while. its amazing to hear the sid chip ad work. this game truely kicks it to work ! and the composer did a marvelous job on the extented version of "the magical sound shower" !
i still have my commodore 64, but its the newer model, witch had problems with the sound ballance between the samples and the sid chip. the samples where to soft to even be head when the sid comes alive :-)
man, this surely is bringing back memorys of good old times :-P
Music: Jeroen Tel (Maniacs of Noise) .. amazing game also, mark kelly was a good coder. but this is a prime example of Jereon's amazing work. u can download the tune at HVSC sid website, but if ur a lame sid stealing/no paying/ no talent producer.. stay well alway from that site, or read the copyright msgs on the screen/website =)

Good use of the SID sound chip. Too bad it was recorded on cruddy VHS that deteriorates. Although, that was all that was available obviously.

Yeh, the VHS makes the sound worse.
But it makes the picture smoother, more friendly to the eyes.
