  • Fantastic tune. A PM Dawn production/co-write if my memory serves me correctly

  • She only just made the top 20! Besides, with Craig McLachlan doing much better, the people buying records back then was obviously teen age girls and our parents! The guys and girls with taste were out off their heads on acid or Coke at raves or concerts. Also, honestly, the Yanks had FAR better music to choose from...!

  • i know this song, i'm american lol

  • Lovely track !!!! "Down that down.... it's freedom at a price" !!! Uplifting song. Billiant vocals from Shara.....

  • @GBRGraham

Not sure if it ever made it big in the US but I do remember it. A DJ friend of mine taped his set (back in the 90's) and this song was on it. I love it.

  • Great song!!! I say it again, There is nothing that can beat the 90´s music.=)

  • I really wish that Shara and Massive Attack would kiss and make up so that they can work together again. Shara is the best singer Massive Attack has ever worked with!

  • Excellent track!!

Who cares if the Yanks didn't get to hear it. Why should everything revolve around the Americans or any other nation?

As long as there is decent quality music [like this] then that's what counts.

Children and young people these days need to listen to quality like this, because all they are getting now is low quality ''music'', from so-called ''musical artists''.

  • @geography27 Who cares indeed!!! - they've got ears, its their problem if they missed it.

  • The British Arethra Franklin!

  • Hit in the UK and not in the U.S. Don't know why. A great song !

probably because she did unfinished sympathy with massive attack.

  • This is my favorite. I love it to the max. Sharah you are the best. It brings back some good memories Bev x

  • Brilliant track, off a great album.. Was hud in Australia.

  • best listened to in the car on a road trip full blast 110km down the freeway! a fav

  • shara nelson is truly awesome, one of the best albums of the nineties "what silence knows", eclipsed only by the truly legendary "blue lines". Good times ???

I think so my fiends, i think so...............

  • I too am left scratching my head as to why this perfect slice of soulful pop didn't break the US charts. Brilliant tune!

  • I recall this song on the radio in the US and I really liked it. Thanks for posting.

  • I got a $1 CD comp at a pawn shop that included this song-I can listen to it 3 or 4 times in a row, love it.

  • love her voice, love this song..

  • No doubt its a great song all her work is, probably didn't make it in the US because she isn't sporting a long weave and is not caramel skinned.

  • americans dont get to hear this music because their record companies are so controlling... this was huge in ozstralia

  • @deejaychip To be fair, it was a turntable hit only in Oz, EMI failed to persuade the public here to part with their cash and buy the record. Shame, deserved to be a monster hit, as did a number of other acts on Cooltempo, which was a seriously good label.

  • I live in USA...I bought the Shara Nelson album...maybe I was the only one?

  • No, I bought it too :-)

  • Que buen tema!

  • Love this song and have for years. But I can't find anywhere to legally download it. Any suggestions?

  • 'Hit in the UK and not in the U.S. Don't know why. A great song ! ? .. Easy, cause the Yanks know fuck all about good music, hahaha.. (only kidding guys)...

  • @polarsequence No need to apologize. You're at least 100% correct.

  • I love this song and have done for years. Truely inspirational! A real "lift you up" song! Great vocals and lyrics.

  • Very Nice!!...thanks

  • Absolutely wonderful tune

  • truly underated and better solo

  • Yes! I used to have it on a mix tape a friend made me in the early 90s - just her voice, and the trumpet - it was glorious!

  • DurocDiva wait till you hear the album its truly fab one of the best ones that got away a real shame shes one of our most underrated singers :)

  • thank god after all these years i am able to put a name and title to this absolutely beautiful song...had that "i swear i never knew" hook in my head for years and couldn't locate it! thanks you

  • Same here!

  • Haven't heard this in years! Had that 'I swear I never knew' bit in my head for years but never knew what it was or who sung it until last night,

  • I loved this song I was just about to go to Uni when this came out. Tunnnne

  • aint it always at a price?

  • whatever happened to shara nelson?this song, well in fact all of her tracks on what silence knows, are outstanding.

  • wow haven't heard this in years!

the greatest vocalist of her generation.

  • Spinetingling!
