Don't kid yourselves folks. Americans, Russians, etc. had their own technology and knowledge before the Germans defected. Also they often looked at and worked on similar ideas during the war. There may have been some cross polination from post-war Germany but it's far less signifacant than you'd probably care to think. Also, any fruit from that time was long, long, long past its sell-by date by the time this aircraft flew. No composites and fly by wire in ww2 folks!
opposite sweptwing is verygood for maneuver but the stool speed is very higher than any other plane which has other wing types, so the landing speed must be fast, it must be dangerous awww
@tripwire76 If I came out onto the runway, saw my plane, and thought " Crap! The wings are on backwards!" it would probably increase my stool speed as well. It's wholly possible it might increase my stool volume, and stench coefficient as well. These are all very important measurements to consider when flying at supersonic speeds.
@cCcTuraniacCc Landing on a forward swept aircraft is actually a lot safer because the ailerons are still receiving airflow even while the aircraft is approaching stall levels.
@fared70 yeah but this wasn't. You notice any Russian plane that took after this one? And so what if we stole tech from the Germans? Our newer stuff is made by us.
They found that it didn't work for their application. So it got shelved. The Russians found this out the hard way after building the Berkut, though they won't admit it was a failure either. However they both learned something. They learned how not to make a fighter jet.
As things ironed out in the X programs, we now have the F-22 Raptor.
@RacerXGTO ; Russians and Chinese rarely do any research, they say to themselves, Ze Americans did it and zey are hinding somezing, we make one just like it....

@cCcTuraniacCc "but the stool speed is very higher than any other plane which has other wing types".
By higher "stool speed" you mean that pilots crap their pants faster? ;-) SCNR

most of the american invention was stolen from nazi germansdont laugh at ur self

@fared70 that's cause most nazi scientists hated their job and defected to the US as soon as possible
look at Dr. Von Braun, one of the Fathers of our Modern Space Capability

@mbukukanyau America mostly does that though. They get help all around from the world!

Its probably not the forward-swept wings that made it unstable, its CG is behind the point of attack of the aerodynamic forces!
vplehweIT 1 year ago
almost if not all modern fighter jets have "negative static stability"
this means if you tried to fly one with out a computer helping it would most likely crash
what makes them seem stable is the FLCS or Flight control computer system that moves the control surfaces
the pilot effectively "flys" the computer and then it knows what to move and how much
were in the past move the stick had a direct link if even assisted to the surfaces

Thanks for explaining forward swept wings. I always wondered why they did that........

Instability means quicker manuverability. Easy as pie. Or cake. Or even a rock.
