My grandfather grew up in Winnipeg, and came to the States in the 50's, where he married my grandma and they had my dad. He was a professional hockey player, pretty nuts.

If any Japanese people feel embarrassed by their spelling and grammatical errors, don't be, I've seen many comments with poor English and those were made by Americans. If it wasn't for Firefox, I would have four spelling errors in this one comment.

You're right. Because the exact same thing happens in reverse with kanji. At least the Japanese don't go around tattooing ridiculous phrases right on to their own skin!!! I should post some examples of those...
