How to Turn off/on Windows 7 or Vista Auto Updates

thanks,those automatic updates are annoying there was a computer expert on the radio that said automatic updates are a way of slipping you a mickey on your comp.i finally was able to download norton and it god rid of viruses but damn autmomatic updates put the virus which was a backdoor trojan and another one called win 32 the virus was hidden in microsoft NET framwork 3.1 sp1

@mexitalian1000 and to top it off the norton i downloaded (free trial) is gone from my comp,and it keeps saying application cannot be executed when i try and run progtam again it keeps saying exe programs infected
