I think it is easier to drill a hole standing up with a hand auger. I read that you are new to the wonderful sport of icefishing and i think of my self as an icefishing expert. I am happy to give advice to people who are just starting out

It is a great Bass lake and panfish lake but not walleye...easy and fun acess in winter. Prior lake is a good lake or Minnetonka is my favorite
