too bad flying is almost unaffordable. i took a b17 flight recently. the b17 was at a fbo. so i asked them what it costs to rent a 172. $150 per hour, well i cant afford that. i love to fly, but i havent been able to do so in 10 years, its so expensive. the good news is not all is lost. im a member of a flying muesum. they have a L16 and offer lessons in it. its a very slow airplane, no flaps, tail dragger, minimal instruments. the price, 65 bucks an hour, instructor is free if your a member
i greatly miss flying so im going to do it. i can afford 65 per hour but i certainlly cannot afford 150 bucks per hour. the l16 might be a very minimally equiped, simple airplane. but its still flying and probably even more fun. im looking forward to going. its been a long time
it will be a huge contrast from the c152 i was used to, but at least its flying
I would say fiction... I own a Cirrus SR20 stationed at Rotterdam Airport and the security policies nowerdays are rediculous. It takes me 15-30 minutes to get to my plane with passengers. This gets even worse when flying outside Europe. Also taxes and surcharges like ATC and landing and parking makes it impossible to compete with alternate transportation. Unfortunately General Aviation still is an expensive hobby for the few lucky ones here...
